My first time there last night and the atmosphere was amazing, the food was better then 5 star. The customer service was top notch as well.

Stopped by this place after a hike near Mt Hood and it was exactly we needed. The service was amazing. The Mama Sweats - dish with an array of different meat cuts was spectacular. Why you would take a nice tri-tip, cube it and regrill is is beyond's me. When it's this overcooked it could have been any kind of meat. Not a fan of the chipotle crema. Hardly any pickled onion. Meh. Wife tried the smash burger. $17. OK. Prefer the protein with crispier edges. Otherwise it's just 2 skinny patties stuck together. Bun was somewhat overcooked on the top. Saturday night and the place was maybe 1/4 full. When we first walked in I wasn't sure if we just sat ourselves or not, but decided to wait to be seated. When seated at a booth, we sank into the bench seats so I spent the rest of the time sitting at the edge so I could eat. It was not comfortable. Since it was our first time there we decided to give Mama Sweats a try in order to taste a bit of all the meats. Upon ordering we were told that they were already out of ribs. "Already?!" I asked in disbelief. The menu said ribs served after 4pm and we arrived just after 5pm. And like I said, it wasn't even busy. Not sure if I was disappointed with the fact that they ran out of ribs just an hour after they began serving it, or maybe the uncomfortable bench seat, or that there was so much salt in our corn that we couldn't eat it. The dry rub on the chicken wings was a bit much. The sauce on the chicken was interesting. It wasn't bad. Actually the citrus provided a refreshing taste to the platter. The pulled pork was probably the best, but it would've been nice if it had a bit more sauce. Sauce was extra. They had more than a handful to pick from, but paying to taste each one didn't make sense for me. Our waiter was nice, but I just didn't have a pleasant experience. Lots of beers to choose a flight. They also had a Bulliet whiskey flight that I would have tried but couldn't pass up the beers. I had the sriracha wings and they were fantastic! Not spicy just good flavor. My husband said the brisket and Mac and cheese were both good. Completely unrelated to the food or typical restaurant experience...There was an incident while we were there that required the staff to call in law enforcement. Ate here for the first time last night for a birthday dinner. Had the Tri-tip sandwich. We also ordered a 1/4 rack of ribs to try out their BBQ. As well as an order of their pulled pork egg rolls. The staff were very friendly and attentive. It's a little loud as far as background noise, but not unbearable. Let's just say WOW!!! The tri-tip was a good size sandwich and was absolutely, positively, 1000% hit on the head as far as the cook went. It was moist and the flavor was amazing! I could have ate 2 of them it was that good! The pulled pork egg rolls were also very good and flavorful. The ribs, I ordered with their chipotle crema sauce on the side. The ribs were done to perfection and fall off the bone. They didn't even need a sauce but the chipotle crema was a nice addition to the amazing flavor of the ribs. For dessert we had a blueberry crumble warmed up with a scoop of ice cream and it was also on par with the rest of the amazing food! I would definitely recommend The Sandbar to anyone that is looking for great food and service in Sandy. read more

The waffle fries were excellent and I even enjoyed the homemade ranch which always has me worried. The atmosphere is quiet for Sunday at 1PM. There are televisions playing sports. There are limited tables and even more limited parking. The menu options for what I consider for typical bbq is missing at least on the lunch menu. I am curious about what's on the dinner menu. We have frequented this location for lunches for years but ha never tried the food since new owners opened Sandbar BBQ. We called in a large order for pickup to feed four of us at a nearby house. The service was excellent but the food was even better. The steak was amazing as was the pulled pork and salad. Oh my goodness! Phenomenal! We had been doing the Fruit Loop all day, and then Timberline, and looking for dinner. We were famished and this was the perfect choice! Indoor/outdoor, spacious, but well-crowded, and we asked to change to a table with chairs--cheerfully accommodated! Our drinks from our lips to table were less than 1min!! It was eerie!, but great. While giving my card early to our waitress (Faith) I inadvertently knocked her "portable cash register" out of her hands, but she was very gracious. The food was so hot, delicious and tasty... we ordered the whole menu between us and it was SO good! I talked to the manager, Jake, about how much we loved our food and experience and even he was superb as well. I am a tough grader but these folks killed it. read more

My wife ordered the pulled pork tacos and reported they were wonderful. I ordered a tri-tip sandwich. It was stacked with tender smoked tri-tip and mushrooms. The bun was nicely charred on the grill and came together very nicely. What changed the experience for the better was I watched the chef bring a platter of wings in. I had to have some. So many wrong things tonight. We had a party of 7 and we were there when they first opened. 1. We ordered two of the meat platters and they ran out of sausage and gave us chicken wings. They didn't tell us they were out or asked if we wanted something else. They had a spicy rub which was ok. 2. We ordered waffle fries, got string fries. Out of waffles and didn't tell or ask. 3. Asked for a beer. The guy didn't know what kind of beers they have and wanted me to scan a bar code to see the beers. And told me he can't serve beers, but served beers to other tables. 4. We were rabid fans of Rip City Grill when they were around in SE PDX. There was nothing whatsoever bad on that menu. When we moved to Sandy, we found they had been reborn out here as Sandbar! Sort of. The really, really good: the tri tip sandwich is AWESOME. It is amazing. The tri tip tacos are also heavenly. The chili is also super good! The not-bad-but-was-hoping-for-more: the burger is not nearly as good compared to what I considered to be the best burger in Portland back at Rip City. Whatever is missing is missed dearly! The fantastic jalapeno poppers are also missing, as are the potatoes. The bar is just ok. Lots of brioche buns here too. Ugh. They are different restaurants, I know, and I am grateful that the tri tip is still as glorious as ever. I was really hoping for a superb cheeseburger, but it just didn't deliver, so I stick with the tri tip. The building itself is really comfortable, and is a pleasure to visit. Only 3 stars?
