One of the best Dr.'s in my lifetime. Has not left any stones unturned in giving me a live time review of my health and body condition. I have been with him for last 10 years and never ever found him to be arrogant or a waste of time Numbers only Dr. He has always practiced due diligence in a very very responsibly way! I tried calling today to make my colonoscopy treatment to sadly finding out he either retired or taking a much needed Sabbatical. I trusted him without an ounce of fear or question. I try to find the best in a bad situation. With Dr. Sandhu, I could not find anything positive to report. I first presented with extreme pain (10/10) in my chest, radiating from the nipple under the armpit and to the backbone. It took days to get an appointment because apparently, his staff was too busy to take my call so it kept forwarding to the answering service. And no callback either. When I finally got to see the doctor, I described my symptoms, medical history and the drugs that had not worked. (This is a 7-year problem that has been getting increasingly worse.) Dr Sandhu did nothing to relieve my pain and ordered a GI scope. When the results came in, he told me that I had a "sensitive stomach". He wrote a script for a drug I had not yet tried. When I tried to get it filled, the insurance (as they ALWAYS do) balked at filling the script and demanded preauthorization. This is a ploy that doctors understand--submit the requested document and it gets approved. Not Dr Sandhu! He changed the script to a drug that I had told him I was on for years with absolutely no relief. I attended the follow-up visit and recorded the session on my iPhone. I asked him point blank how 10/10 pain could be a sensitive stomach and not a more serious problem. He spouted some BS. I asked why he did not look into Gastroparesis or any of the other problems that can cause the same symptoms. He relented and ordered a stomach empty study. In the meantime, my primary physician heard about the problems and started me on meds for Gastroparesis. I did not bother to return for a fourth visit. It turned out that I do have Gastroparesis complicated by a partial intestinal blockage (bezoar). If I had not found a different doctor to treat me, I might have perforated, become septic and died. This is gross and serious malpractice, folks. This guy is lazy, rude and has absolutely no empathy for his patients. He orders basic tests that are extremely profitable for him and will not delve further without a lot of resistance. I believe he is incompetent and should lose his license. I am in the process of reporting this to the authorities, so hopefully they will investigate and keep anybody else from falling into his clutches. Find a shaman, faith healer, snake handler or blood-letter but don't let this guy anywhere near your loved ones. If you do have to see him, record every session. Trust me. read more

I would give more stars, but the front desk is the worst! I have to agree with the others, the wait time is beyond ridiculous! My hubs has been going to Dr. Sandhu for awhile, he has always been nice and to the point. We went to get hubby test result and waited for 1 1/2 hours listen to the receptionist talk about her son and the 49ers. She was rude, unprofessional. When they finally took us back they told us the results were not in and they would call us. Are you kidding, why didn't someone call us or tell us when we checked in? Then I called back to get the test results and they said we had to come in but the Dr. was gone on vacation. Really, we were there yesterday! They set us up with another Dr. Got meds and was told to come back 2 weeks after taking all meds. Got a call confirming the appt. Asked if we had to come in or can we do this over the phone? The lady on the phone didn't understand what I was asking, so I asked to speak with someone else. I explained that it was a short week at work, and wanted to know if we could do this over the phone. She kept me on hold for 9 min. to tell me that we had to come back in. Back again to the RUDE receptionist (this lady has no personalty!) nothing more frustrating the to be told, "You took the test to soon" You have to come back in 4 weeks. Really you couldn't tell me that over the phone??? The office staff needs to get it together!!! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Sandhu for the past 5 years for my health issues. One thing I like to point out from the last post from (John S.) I get your complaint but there is no need to be entitled to excellent service if things don't go your way. I agree with prior post, wait time can be terrible so do expect 30-60 wait time including consultation time. As a patient if you are expecting a happy go lucky personable doctor he may not be the one. Dr. Sandhu does not waste any time, he goes directly to the source of your problem and tries to rule out any possible diagnosis by ordering all the tests that are available. I am now feeling much better after he diagnosed me and treated my symptoms and he makes sure i follow up with him every 6 months. read more

He is far more interested in them, than you, trust me. He has no time nor patience to listen to your ailments. In fact, had he listened when I gave him my case history, he wouldn't have proudly presented his conclusion - lactose intolerance. Uh, hello, I told you that I was having trouble with dairy in the first place. Moreover, when I asked him if that explained my other problem, which is/was far more serious, and which, by the way, I also told him the first time I saw him, he replied, "No, let's run some more tests." Too slowly, I realized this was his mantra. Increase profit by running more tests and provide as little information as possible while avoiding diagnoses that curtain the money racket. While he made more money, I suffered an additional twelve months. In reviewing my file, he did scrawl down what I had said, but did he review them or take action on them? No, he did not. Instead, I suffered while he brought me back time and time again for a three minute, if that, one-way exchange which went something like this: "Here's your test result. Let's run another test. In this way, I had an endoscopy, colonoscopy, numerous breath tests, CT scan, etc. In general, he is rude and arrogant. One time, when I asked him a question, he asked me to hold my chart for him. I was surprised and did so. Then he motioned for me to follow him, which I did, wondering where he was leading me. He then pointed towards reception and asked me to take my chart there. Oh, and don't expect him to call you should you call him. Silly me. Thinking a doctor of his stature would call me back. What is he good for: He will soak your insurance company and you: your time, your health and likely your own pocket money by running test after test, and then making you come back for a two or three sentence interpretation of the test. Moreover, he will never put 2 and 2 together to determine what thing or things might be wrong with you. The test came back negative. Gee, that's helpful. I'm still sick. PLEASE do not go to Dr. Sandhu. Let me list the reasons why: 1) Terrible Doctor. While he has the necessary education and credentials, he has by far the WORST attitude towards patients of any Doctor I have met, ever seen for myself at the age of 47, consulted with for a family member, or saw on TV or in the movies. He spoke down to me and my wife when my wife asked him some very straightforward questions with a high level of arrogance. I have yet to come across a Dr with the the lack of compassion and terrible communication skills that Dr. Sandhu has. 2) Wait Time. While patients are generally asked to wait for a Dr., his wait time is incredibly long and when he finally does receive you in his office, no apologies and no "how are you feeling, etc." Straight to business with Dr. Sandhu because after you have waited for so long, he feels like you're wasting his time to have any meaningful conversation with him. 3) Test NOT patient oriented. He is the classic example of a Dr. diagnosing and treating a "case" not a person. He orders multiple tests and does not consult with the patient and neither he nor his office staff explain why the tests are necessary. His office staff told me that I had to do a test, which my insurance denied twice after two appeals. My insurance has never denied a lab EVER but in this case, they told me that this test is known to be experimental and has been communicated to this Dr. in the past and the Dr. should clearly have known this at the time he ordered it and not used it for the diagnosis he did. Until this point, I figured it was just his patient attitude that was the issue. After this, I also believe he has a poor lack of judgement. The whole appeal process, with all of the back and forth with his office took over six months, and in the end, he took no responsibility for the fact that the test was deemed experimental, unnecessary, and not covered by any insurance, not just mine. He stuck me with a $750 lab bill and at the end of it all, he was not responsive, arrogant, and callous. He uses his staff to shield himself from patient issues after he sticks his patients with unnecessary tests, which I have no doubt he profits from. I was referred to him by my primary doctor, who is fantastic and has referred me in the past to 4 different doctors, all of who, have been great. Dr. Sandhu broke that streak as he is by far the worst Doctor I have ever dealt with. Even my primary doctor said, yes Dr. Sandhu has serious communication problems, but unfortunately that goes with "the package". While I continue to respect my primary doctor and do not fault him for referring me, I do blame Dr. Sandhu for his lack of compassion, lack of professionalism, and terrible bed-side manner. I IMPLORE you not to waste your time, money, and most of all, peace of mind, to see Dr. Sandhu. There are far too many Gastroenterologists in the bay area and I have to believe, after my terrible experience with Dr. Sandhu, that there is at least one that is better than him. If you still choose to go to him, do it at your own risk as I believe you will regret it. The one star that I gave is NOT for Dr. Sandhu, I would have given zero if permitted. The one star was for one of his medical assistants who went the extra mile to make up for Dr. Sandhu's shortcomings as noted above. read more

I agree with herky s. I shared the same experience. Dr. Sandhu gave me a 2 minutes meeting after 1 hour waiting. He didn't even examine me, didn't ask my history to see what might cause the issues, didn't know how I am doing, didn't suggest what I should do to help with my symptoms. He just explained the test results in 1 sentence, told me to take another test, let me suffer with my pain without even asking how I am feeling. This is a bad practice for a doctor. I'm surprised that he's still the same since 2008 with no improvement. I don't suggest him to any patient. It's useless to see him because he doesn't treat you, he just sent you to take the test. read more

While I think Dr. Sandhu is very smart he is very arrogant. He has done a good job of diagnosing my problems over the years but his arrogance and disrespect for his patients has become unbearable. Once again I had to wait almost 3 hours for him to show up for a colonscopy along with all the other people that were to come after me. He has no intention of being there on time so you lie with an IV in you just waiting for him to show up and then it is like a production line. He doesn't talk to you afterwards like the other doctors but has you come to office because he doesn't want to take the time to do it then. I don't think I can go thru this again with him but that said he is the easiest gastro to see when you have a problem if you are his patient. The others in town don't care if you are sick or not. read more
