AJ'S Amazing Review- The Good- Dr. Bhandari is a nice doctor very knowledgeable. He seems to genuinely care about this patients. He treats you well, and provides sound advice. The Bad- The location is old now, smells, the space is shared with several other doctors to minimize spending. Their equipment is also really old. After going through Dr. Bhandri's review. I must say that I haven't read such contrasting reviews about anyone. A few years back, my mother was diagnosed with Hepatitis C, Dr. Bhandari was referred as her GI. She visited him once and refused to visit him again. She waited for three hours and doctor hardly spent a few minutes with her. Doctor suggested a biopsy and instructed to get admitted at a hospital. Last year she was admitted due to variceal bleeding and while talking with another patient we found out that she agree's with my mother about Dr. Bhandari. According to that lady, he misdiagnosed her mother, too. I am thankful to Dr. Bhandari who banded my mother's variceal bleeding but she strongly believes that the doctor lacks compassion and is very quick in making decisions. Another important point is my mother had a liver mass which was never diagnosed by Dr. Bhandari. An Oncologist suggested that a biopsy of such a liver can be seriously life-threatening. read more

I was referred to get an endoscopy from my primary care doctor and go see him. Now the thing is, they made me wait about 1 hour until I saw a doctor. He was okay, but then they just asked a few questions to schedule me for an appointment for the endoscopy. This office is very unprofessional. The door was left open waiting in one of the rooms and I could hear all the medical issues of a patient next door. Furthermore, the chairs had stains, walls were peeling off... I've been referred to Dr. Bhandari a few times recently, based on my insurance coverage. It is no more pleasant visiting his office than it was in 2008. I have yet to be seen within an hour and a half of my scheduled appointment. And, while the staff tries each time to suggest its an aberration, long waits are SOP. Today I arrived at 1:50 for my 2PM appointment; they indicated the Dr. was not even in the building but was on his way. At 3PM they indicated he had been delayed at the hospital, but would be there in 20 minutes. And I would be the first patient seen! I was seen promptly at 4:05!! I will ask here the same question I asked Dr. Bhandari. "Dr. If your practice was based on patients choosing to see him, rather than him being the option based on their insurance and referrals, just how much business does he think he would do, based on patient experience in his office?" This doctor's office is notorious for telling you whatever will get you to hang up; at least as far as their medical records and billing department. I work in a professional capacity with them and I have made a legitimate and professional request (office to office) more than 7 times over a 10 month period for records and bills for clients of ours, and they have not provided ONE record or bill on ANY of their patients. Do not book an appointment here! Choose a different GI Doctor for your own good! Everything is awful about this place. Dr Bhandari misdiagnosed me for financial gain. He told me to take the more expensive & riskier route (endoscopy & colonoscopy) rather than just get an ultrasound first. Then he & his staff failed to advise me that my costs would include a separate bill fr the Surgery center and laboratory. He ended up costing me over $5,900 for absolutely nothing!! You wait in an ugly, old waiting room with seats so close to smelly people for HOURS & then you are sent into another waiting room for 20-30 min. He only talks with you for 5 min. His front desk staff are the rudest human beings I've ever seen. They don't even make eye contact with you to acknowledge you. They speak rudely to you & it's just an overall horrible experience. The facility operates as a fully functioning organ with each component cooperating with the next. The teamwork concept is an attribute that is evident both inside and outside of the facility through referrals to specialists. Terrible. Long wait, rude doctor. My insurance was supposed to go through the next day but I have gall stones and possible kidney infection and I at least wanted to get an initial assessment and thought he would then schedule some of the follow up testing I needed to get the ball rolling. Nope. $75 to wait 2 hours to have him tell me I should just go back to the ER which is where I was referred to him. He was not a nice or caring person. I kinda got the feeling he may be a bit racist since I'm Hispanic and everyone else was Indian, but I'm only speculating, trying to did some excuse for his incredibly cold and callous behavior. read more

When eventually I was called in there were 3 people sitting in on my consultation, without my approval. Has he never heard of patient privacy? Do yourself a favor and demand another colon Dr. This guy packs his waiting room with as many customers as possible and does the same thing on the day of scheduled colonoscophy--he gives you a time and if you arrive early and are lucky enough to be in 1st group--they line you up in the hallway in 5's and you WAIT, WAIT & if someone says some magic word they hurry them in the back door while you sit out there, waiting...I was SO ANGRY and hungry and stomach upset from all that stuff to get you cleaned out--I was sick and Waited...I waited almost 2 hours & found NO surgeries had even been started, 5 people on gurney's in hallway WAITING...I left, they turned in my Medi-Cal referral papers for payment!!!(YES, they did because I got a paper from Medi-Cal showing my portion and what he charged) all for services NEVER performed at the hospital!! Dr. Bhandari has an odd personality and an awkward bedside manner, Also, his clinic is over-crowded and dirty. I wasn't at all comfortable with that. However, he excepted my insurance and had time in his schedule to give me a colonoscopy screening before the end of the year, which is what I wanted to do. I had an appointment for a 6 am procedure at the very clean and comfortable Fremont Surgery Center. I arrived 15 minutes early. He arrived 1 1/2 hours late, and I was his first patient of the day. He did not acknowledge or apologize for being so late and keeping me waiting. Having an awkward bedside manner is a one thing, but this doctor also neglected to discuss what to expect during the procedure, which in hindsight is really not OK. When I was in the treatment room and he began to insert the camera, I experienced intense pain after the first few seconds. I told him to stop, but he did not. The pain and pressure was so bad that I ended up yelling out to him to stop or to at least slow down. But he did not stop, or slow down. He did ask the nurse to give me more pain medicine in my IV, but that did not begin to dull the pain right away. It took a long time to kick in. And considering the pain I was in, it was completely inappropriate for him to not honor my request, no my insistence, that he slow down or stop. He did not stop and wait for it to start working. He didn't even address me about the fact that I was in pain. The only thing he did was to instruct the nurse to increase the pain medication. This is unacceptable behavior for a doctor, especially when a patient is impaired and defenseless, It is cruel and should not be tolerated. I am supposed to go in for a 4 week follow up appointment. I am not inclined to go. I re commend you find someone else, or at least address the issue of pain in the procedure room and how he will handle it, in advance. read more

I have been a patient with Dr. Bhandari for more then 10 years. He is a knowledgeable and caring person and takes care of his patients. Over the years, I have gone to him, he has answered all my questions patiently and made me feel at home, Yes, whenever you go to his office, it is crowded. Lots of patients to see him or one of the other Doctors. My experience is if you have an appointment usually I have been seen in good time which is usually less then 1 hour. The waiting time is similar to average waiting times I have experienced at other doctor's or medical facilities in SF Bay Area. Dr.B has been my Gastro Dr. since 1997. People are right bout the waiting in the office, but that was the only thing I had a problem with. He is a wonderful Dr. I haven't seen him since 2003 until 3 days ago. I needed a endoscopy and a colonoscopy. When he walked in my Hospital room he remember me like I nevered stop going. With all his patients I didn't think he would remember like that. My dad used 2 always be there for the procedures well this year he wasn't he passed a year ago on November 9th, 2016 and I don't know how Dr. B knew, he gave his condolence and told me he remembered my dad always being there. This guy is awful. AWFUL - be careful. This doctor was working at urgent care, I brought my young son in for what I thought was bronchitis or something. This guy diagnosed my son incorrectly AND THEN prescribed him a medicine that a child of my son's age was not supposed to use. Thank God for our pharmacist who questioned what was going on. Problem was the pharmacist tried to call Dr. Bhandari and he wouldn't return her calls. Then she thought she'd check what doctor was on call - and it was HIM. And he STILL wouldn't call back. Never did in fact. If not for the pharmacist, I would have given my son something very dangerous. After the holiday weekend was over and we saw our regular doc, he was furious when he saw what Bhandari diagnosed my son with very incorrectly and then when he saw the meds Bhandari prescribed. I agree. Horribly overbooked and busy office. He also came in with a group of junior Dr.'s after waiting for 1.5 hours. He's always late coming back from lunch. I've been to this place twice. The 2nd time the answering office said lunch from 12-1:30, but when I drove there the sign said 2:30. So I returned at 245. Doctor came back from luch at 345. I asked if how much longer I would have to wait, one of the receptionists said " maybe an hour". I figured it would probably take another hour and a half before he would see me because this place just puts you into their patient rooms to wait. Horrible horrible place. Don't go here. read more

There're better doctors out there...... could've avoided if I have yelped about him before the appointment. I was referred by my PCP for an endoscopy. Very busy office and horribly overbooked. My wait time in the waiting room was over an hour. About a week after scheduling my appointment, i got call a few times telling me that the appointment was shifted to earlier time without my agreement. After the procedure, he left so early that i didn't even know how does he looks like... don't even expect to ask him a single question. He wrote me a prescription without noting the dosage so pharmacy's trying to contact him for clarification but no luck yet. It's been over a week now and still no update from the pharmacy or him. I tried to call his office but not getting through... For those who already have appointment with this doctor, GOOD LUCK! you need lots of it. read more
