I was looking for a specific bedroom set from New Classic Furniture. Not only was Furniture 42 able to order the exact collection I wanted, they beat the price I had already negotiated elsewhere. What really earned this review, though, was the people. From the moment I walked into the store, it was obvious that owner Jackie Robinson Jr. has built more than a furniture business. He's built a team that genuinely cares about customers and takes pride in doing things the right way. Every interaction felt authentic. There was no pressure, no games, just honest people who wanted to help. I had the opportunity to work with Angelo and Thomas as well, and they left just as much of an impression as Jackie. They were respectful, hardworking, communicated well, worked together seamlessly, and took genuine pride in what they were doing. As a customer, it was easy to see they had been trusted, mentored, and given an opportunity to grow. One moment really stood out to me. After my furniture arrived, Jackie called to let me know everything was ready. During that conversation, he asked if I already had a foundation for the bed because he wanted to make sure I had everything I needed before delivery. As it turns out, I did need one. He had them in stock, added two Twin XL foundations to my order, and delivered them with the rest of the furniture that same day. The previous retailer never even mentioned that I would need a foundation. Jackie anticipated a need I didn't even know I had and solved the problem before it became one. That's customer service. Everything arrived together, was assembled professionally, and was exactly what I ordered. Furniture can be purchased almost anywhere. Character, integrity, and genuine customer care are much harder to find. If you're shopping for furniture in Albuquerque, I highly recommend giving Furniture 42 a chance to earn your business. Almost a year ago, my husband and I bought our futon here. Being futon aficionados, we continue to love it! The owner and staff are genuine futon experts. They only carry top-notch furniture, including synthetic futons for those who are allergic to cotton. Futons are not something you should purchase just anywhere, because most futons out there are flimsy, watered-down versions of the real thing, which won't hold their firmness for long or are made with inferior materials. Update: My husband and I recently went to Sachi Organics to have small throw pillows for our couch made. We had these pillows made with flax seed and they come with their own slip covers made of organic, non-bleached canvas. The proprietors, though busy, made these quickly and skillfully.

I wanted a quality mattress made of natural materials, and I felt good about supporting a local business, but I regret buying it. I asked about the option of returning for half-price thinking maybe they could resell it, and also about having the mattress cut into twin mattresses, but was told this option would be "quite expensive." I was told I could resell it myself, but the 12 year warranty would be void for the purchaser. We visited the store several times before purchasing, but I had trouble finding reviews of the mattresses as opposed to the pillows. The latex mattress seemed comfortable in the store, but that is not the same as sleeping on it for several months- my back and hips cannot be persuaded that the feel-good quality of the mattress is worth it. Also, there are also no exchanges for mattress covers which may shrink with washing. I asked at purchase what would happen if we really didn't like it, and was told it could be returned, but I didn't press for any conditions- rookie error, it is a business no matter how nice people seem. I think the store should have a large sign saying "no returns." I finally decided to post a review to give a more balanced opinion for anyone wondering about comfort in addition to ethical production and organic materials because it is my most expensive mistake.
