The review I'm about to leave is to get everyone's attention. We were robbed at this hotel. Our safe was broken into, and it was an inside job. The night before an excursion, I went to ask the concierge about the room service app. that is absolutely horrible it is down more than it works. He said they were having problems with the app. so my husband, I decided not to use it for we had to leave early for our trip. So we got out our id's and some other things out of the safe. We locked it, and in the morning, I needed something out of my purse, so I tried opening it. It kept saying low battery after trying several times, and it wouldn't unlock. We had to leave, so I put my maid service sign up since we had sand in our room, and I figured they would clean. My husband and I decided it would be best not to tell anyone about the safe til we got back from our excursion. We had a wonderful day out in Tulum. After getting back to the hotel, after 12 hours, we walked into our hotel and immediately went to the front desk to tell them we couldn't get into our safe. The concierge Erik immediately told my husband that it had been fixed. He looked at me and then said, "That's impossible. We didn't tell anyone. He was hesitant and said, or that might be someone else. He said I'll send someone up. We had dinner reservations, so we quickly went to our room. I showered, and my husband went back down to find the restaurant and stopped by the concierge again to tell them we were going to be leaving our room shortly. Concierge Erik said, "Oh no one, it has been there yet. No, "said my husband. My husband came back to our room and opened the closet door where the safe was. Wouldn't you know it? Our safe was magically unlocked. We had put our passports side by side, a stack of one's and some other cash under the ones. I immediately grabbed my purse to check my wallet. Upon opening it, the first thing I saw was that my passport was now in my purse. I opened my wallet and I noticed all of my money except one dollar was missing. The total was approximately $120. My husband went down stairs immediately to get them to our room. Security, Erik, and the manager on duty came up and took a report. They said it would take 48 hours to do the investigation. Long story short, less than 24 hours later, they called my husband down and said no one was in our room except us the whole time. My husband said 1. How did our room get cleaned and restocked, and 2. How does our safe magically work now? They had no answers. They never offered any kind of compensation a sorry or nothing. We were there with 10 other people and didn't want to make the rest of our trip miserable so we didn't push anymore. My husband, when we came back to the States, filed a formal report with our travel agent. I'm grateful they didn't take all our money, but I felt violated more than anything.other part of my comments has to be on the resort it's self. The day we checked in they tried telling us that our room wasn't available and tried to upgrade us by a sales pitch after several attempts and my husband getting mad they finally gave us the balcony and ocean view we paid for thru our travel agent. When getting to our room, I always check on the bed for bed bugs and etc. I found our bed rather old and what appears to be mold on it. Again, trying not to complain, we stayed in there. I also found light sockets, no covers on them, and kinda half ass in the wall. Lamp shade dirty. Trying to get into restaurants was nearly impossible. Which made us spend most of our meal time in the buffet, which was not the greatest. It did fill the belly, but that's it. The times we did get into the restaurants, the food was great. The room service app doesn't eork right. Drinks aren't the greatest. The phones in the rooms either are static or don't work and have wrong room number on them.My husband asked for Jack Daniel's that's considered an elite drink and only got it when they ran out of Johnny Walker and Jim Beam. Elite is what they consider when you pay extra and join their like timeshare. The place is always crawling with people up front trying to sell you the Elite Club and other things. This hotel is, in my opinion, not a place to stay unless you want to get robbed and mediocre food. The activities were great. They always had something planned, and they did a great job getting guests involved. read more
