The resort is in Santa…read moreAna Pueblo, which is about 25 minutes outside Albuquerque and another 50 minutes from Santa Fe (though with the conference schedule, I was unable to make it to Santa Fe). The property itself is beautiful and expansive, sits on Tamayame land, and at the outset of the conference a member of the Native American tribe welcomed us and shared about the land and setting. The property has with multiple event spaces, an on-site trail, a large gym, and several pools. It is a fairly large resort (our room was at one end, so it was about a 7-10 minute walk to the main lobby area). Each day began with a large breakfast buffet, and lunch was similarly well done. One of the highlights was being able to sit outside during meals at large tables overlooking the grounds, mountains, trees, and fresh air made for a really peaceful setting. For breakfast, I enjoyed the red/green chilies chilaquiles (New Mexican style breakfast), it was very flavorful and I enjoyed trying but was very spicy/heavy. From a conference and events perspective, the resort is very impressive. There is a large main conference room with a stage, and the room can accommodate over 100 people (at round tables), along with many smaller breakout rooms. Over two evenings, we attended events at different venues on the property, one about a 10-minute walk away (with hotel mini-bus transportation available), and another closer to the main area under a tent. The more distant venue was quite large and set apart, likely used for weddings and larger celebrations. That evening included a buffet dinner, DJ, dancing, and multiple bar setups. The second evening closer to the main hotel was a seated dinner under a tent, with music and performances in a more contained setting. There is also a nice bar and restaurant in the lobby, as well as another more casual restaurant by the pool. Given time constraints, I was not able to fully take advantage of all the amenities (including the spa, horseback riding, and longer trail walks), but I would absolutely recommend this property. It is incredibly scenic, serene, and feels immersed in nature, and I would gladly return.

When it was finally open, they wouldn't even allow a small child to have a sippy cup in the pool area, which seemed excessive and unnecessary for families with young children. Overall, the customer service was disappointing, and the experience was nothing like it used to be. Unfortunately, because of the poor treatment we received and the lack of amenities, we will not be returning, and I cannot recommend this place to other families.

I gave them a try, the owner whose name I believe was Marcos, was very kind and patient and explained how the prices worked and what kind of cars they had and the whole process. The day I got picked up, the car showed up 10 minutes early, the driver helped me with luggage, asked me if I wanted any music or keep it quiet. Honestly the chauffeur was first class all the way. It honestly really made the start of the trip that much more enjoyable.

With one stop, halfway through, at the Apache Nugget Casino. Soon, they'll be offering shuttle van trips from Albuquerque to Sante Fe, so keep an eye out for that. One thing to mention, is that when you are arriving or departing from the Albuquerque area, pickup is near the Amtrak station, there is a sign near the road with the phone number. You can purchase tickets on the website, over the phone, and with the driver (bring cash). Currently the prices are $55 one-way. Another thing to keep in mind, is that the area in Albuquerque is a bit shady. There are a lot of homeless people near the bus station, and drug dealers. You can wait inside the Amtrak station, or Alvarado Station nearby. Also, the Amtrak station has clean restrooms, a small cafe, and free WiFi.

The cars tend to be safe if left over the weekend thanks to the tribal police and there are security cameras. It's also picturesque for your wait! They have benches in the shade while you wait for the train and it's never too busy. It's close to El Pinto and also Sandia Lakes for fishing!
