This was a great place to go to for breakfast. I loved how cute it was inside plus it is a family owned restaurant. They roast their own beans and their coffee smells amazing!! I had the Cuban Egg sandwich and that was delicious! I wanted to try something new and different and I'm glad I did. Went around 11 and was seated quite quickly. Staff were wonderful! Very unpleasant experience. No host stand so we had to wander around looking for a waitress to get seated. Then the food took forever. Maybe 30 mins+ for food to come out, with nobody checking on us. We had to specifically ask for coffee refills. We asked for a waffle to be served after our entrees so we had something sweet, and the waitress brought it out 15 mins before the rest of the food. Very strange. To top it all off, the food wasn't even very good. My omelette was fine but the potatoes were all undercooked and very oily. You get one slice of toast, but it is one of those brands that cuts it super thin to save calories so your one slice is more close to a half slice. The breakfast bowl also came with 1 egg. Who eats 1 egg for breakfast? read more

Cute brunch spot in the heart of downtown dunedin. My dirty chai was a delicious treat on a chilly Florida morning. I split a quesadilla with my sister and it was enough food for both of us. I liked that they had a closed in balcony with heat so we could sit outside on a colder day. Will be back again to sit in their outdoor courtyard soon. read more

My husband and I have been visiting the Clearwater area, for vacation, for years now. The Sandpiper is one of our most favorite breakfast spots! Their outside dining area is too cute, and the food and coffee is always great. This morning when we stopped in, before heading to the airport, we found a table inside. It was a little too chilly outside, and we had our 9 month old with us. Our waiter was a younger guy who was super friendly and eager - he was working hard with a big smile on his face! I ordered a latte, that was delicious, until it got in arm's reach of my baby. He spilled it all over the floor which I felt terribly about. Our waiter came over instantly and happily began to clean up the spill. The owner was working this morning as well, and he joined in cleaning up the spill - both men were so kind. Our waiter then brought over a fresh latte for me, which I hadn't asked for. So sweet! We already loved the Sandpiper - but even more now! We will be back of course! read more

I lucked up on this gem by searching for breakfast near me. This is a great little café and gift shop and I am glad this lace popped up on my map! The food is delicious and I would recommend sitting outdoors as the inside has roughly enough seating for 15 people. Their coffee menu is delightful and offers everything from espresso to chai lattes. And yes, they have guest WiFi so bring your laptop and get some work done! I had the bacon egg and cheese croissant and my husband had the breakfast quesadilla. The portions were big enough but not oversized as to require leftovers. They have more traditional offerings as well if you are an American breakfast fan but also offer simple bagels and English muffins for light eaters. Service is very friendly and is enough to coax you right back another visit. If you are near, stop in for a quick bite or a coffee/tea break and refresh yourself. Nice little breakfast/lunch cafe in Dunedin. Love that they roast their coffee in house. I had the cinnamon cappuccino. It was well balance & very tasty. Eriq insisted on us trying the pretzel bites since it was brunch time;) They came with mustard & cheese sauce for dipping and they were very solid. Entree wise I had the eggs Benedict with a citrus Hollandaise. Tasty and the hint of orange flavor was a nice change of pace. It doesn't come with home fries or anything more of an a la cart type menu which is good with me. Next time looking forward to trying their Nutella latte read more

I got the BMT bagel sandwich to go for breakfast. Maybe this particular item is a miss based on the overall rating for this place. The bagel was very soft and seemed like store-bought. The ingredients inside the sandwich were pretty bland too. It sufficed to hold me over but wasn't a tasty breakfast. Parking is limited in the back. read more

Our server Julia was very rude to us when asking for a kids menu. We went there to enjoy our last meal before going home from vacation. We saw this place offered breakfast and lunch options and was only given a breakfast menu when others who were seated next to us was given a lunch menu. We brought our two dogs with us and they were not even offered a water bowl unlike another patrons who brought there dog and was offered a water bowl. We only only ordered a bagel, waffle, and a breakfast bowl which took a long time to come out of the kitchen and was mediocre to say the least. We vacation in Dunedin often and this was the first time we had ever had this kind of experience. Needless to say we will NEVER be coming back to this restaurant again. read more

We were greeted by a young man who was very kind and polite. One staff worker was bothered for some reason that we were getting a to go order saying "does this look like the type of place to get to-go?" Under her breath. Even though the young man had given us the to-go option. Nonetheless, the restaurant was cute and if we had time we could have enjoyed dining in. Our breakfast sandwiches were delicious but the rude worker was the overarching factor of our experience here. We were never pressuring them to hurry or making a fuss over waiting, we simply looked around at their postcards and other items. read more

Cute place with great service. We sat outside. Reluctantly giving 4 stars due to the ham skillet I had having very little ham and it was tiny squares. Also very greasy at the bottom of the bowl. My wife's bagel sandwich was perfect though and coffee was great. We'll be back and potentially bump up to 5 stars. read more

I've been coming here for years, mainly because of the solid food, great coffee, friendly owners and cute indoor and outdoor seating. They have a good sized outdoor area out back, which is great for Covid, because it's never too crowded and everyone is spaced out nicely! My go-to is their breakfast Cuban, which is on a yummy croissant. It comes without a side, so if you're hungry I would maybe order a side or pastry. Their sandwiches are also very good and Iced coffee is solid! Prices are reasonable. read more

Adorable place with great service. Conveniently in the perfect section of Dunedin. We sat out on the porch on this cool day where there was a heater set up and it was perfectly comfortable. We had two dirty chai lattes, a side of potatoes and a BMT quesadilla, it was delicious! We weren't terribly hungry so we split a breakfast quesadilla which was perfect! Wow! What a GEM! My server was Aria, she was quick and friendly. I had the Eggs Benedict, it was fresh, perfectly cooked and the hollandaise was decadent and delicious. So glad we stumbled upon this place! The food is so fresh, the restaurant is so clean, the service is super friendly and there's lots to look around at while you wait for your food. There is even a children's book about conquering fear that the owner wrote, and is on display. I read it to my kids and it helped pass the time. I came here with my boyfriend for brunch and it was such a good choice! We drove past it and it looked cute so we decided to go in. We both got chai lattes and they tasted amazing. They talked to us the entire time and made us feel welcome and happy. They also allowed me to pour in my own heavy whipping cream so that I had the perfect amount. I ordered an Americana and my Husband ordered a Cafe Mocha. The coffee was cheap and tasted delicious. I had their equivalent of a large and it was around $3. My Husband loved his cafe mocha as well. I loved the decor. The bathroom was really cool too because they had a bookshelf full of books that they also sell. I thought that was a neat touch for a coffee house. We loved Cappuccino and will visit again when we are in Dunedin.

This unfortunately is WAY over due...but still needs to be shared. My son and fiancé decided to get married the Tuesday before Thanksgiving...after a quick ceremony at the court house the 10 of had made arrangements to celebrate at the Sandpiper. COULD NOT HAVE MADE A BETTER DECISION. The staff was on point....I was able to get with Karen before hand to finalize details about the lunch...She knew exactly what to do and had her staff more than ready for us. We walked into the back...and it was gorgeous...EXACTLY what the new couple wanted. Plenty of room, plenty of GREAT food, and sincerely enjoyed every minute of being there. We could not have asked for, picked out and or planned a better celebration!!!! PERFECT in every way! We had an extremely disappointing experience at Wild Iris. Despite multiple open tables, we were subjected to unnecessary wait times and completely ignored by the staff. We weren't greeted or acknowledged for 25 minutes, which is unacceptable. After waiting and watching others receive service, we finally decided to walk out. Thankfully, we found a much better option just 168 feet around the corner at Sandpiper. The service there was friendly, the atmosphere far more inviting, and the food just as good, if not better. If you're looking for a pleasant dining experience, skip Wild Iris and head to Sandpiper instead. You'll be glad you did. read more

When we walked in, we were quickly greeted. Place is still bright, clean and cheery. Interesting soundscapes type music piped in also. We were told we could sit anyplace as we entered. We did and sat at a booth with a very wobbly table. A moment or two later when Ginger took our order, she replied that "we were tryin' to fix that table yesterday but we didn't have a shim." M next time a word about not having us sit there would be a welcome gesture on their part rather than letting us move all our stuff to the next table. Anyway...coffee was kinda weak too. I usually don't bother with diner coffee as it's usually hit or miss. This stuff was the latter by far. Meanwhile we got the former with our food! Queen Bee chose a daily special: one egg, two pieces of French toast and two strips of bacon. I chose the country fried steak breakfast. Queen Bee's choice made her quite the happy camper. French toast she found quite delicious; well cooked rather than goopy or runny with a nice crisp to it. The egg was perfect over medium as asked. She even told Ginger what an over medium egg constitutes. Ginger replied "I gotcha honey" with a southern laugh. My breakfast meantime was quite lovely for the most part. Country fried steak was a standard Sysco truck frozen block of breaded, minced meat. It was properly cooked (as opposed to incinerated) and not greasy. The standout for this was/is the "country gravy." Country gravy oftentimes suffers from one of two problems... 1. Over salty from too much sausage and sausage grease. 2. Floury aftertaste because the cook can't make a proper béchamel. This stuff had neither problem and was one of the better country gravies I've had in recent memory if not ever. Meanwhile eggs were scrambled properly...not too loose, not too tight (more toward the latter than the former). The home fries were quite bland (no salt, no pepper or even a hint of paprika). I wonder if too many of the old folks living round here complained about 'em. Anyway, I added a shake of salt (gasp!) and some pepper. I chose rye toast as I usually do. When Ginger dropped off our chow I even asked if it was rye instead of whole wheat. She said yes with a smile, adding the only way she can tell 'em apart is by "looking for the seeds. Ya gotta be smarter than what ya work with." Finally, Ginger herself is a real hoot. She truly reminds me of a southern version of the NYC diner waitresses I remember from my younger years and decades in the Big Apple. Sassy, funny, and quite efficient, competent and knowledgeable. After we walked in, we weren't so sure about whether we'd return here ever again. However given the balance of today's experience, I'd say that when we find ourselves in the area and in need of a feed...Pete seems to have done well with this joint and I'd say his morning crew knows their stuff!
