I ordered over the phone for a bagel breakfast sandwich with scrambled egg cheddar cheese and sausage patty on a toasted everything bagel. Plus an order of home fries with gravy. Plus they said they take cash or credit and it was for a pickup order that I was going to pick up. It was a good breakfast and I would order from there again. read more

Feel bad that I didn't snap a pic, but we were hungry and when we got our order, we just started eating! The service was fast and friendly. We sat at c the counter so able to watch Brenda cook and chat her up too. We ordered breakfast because heard it was good. It was! Just like home, but better because I didn't have to clean up after. I had the Farmer's omelette, was loaded with peppers, onions, potatoes, ham and was covered in white gravy. We also had the French toast, the everything omelette, and the chicken sandwich. Everything was so good, eggs were nice and fluffy, & teeming with ingredients. The French toast was prepared with sourdough bread so it was nice and thick with crispy edges. Came here for breakfast. I think it's a place for regulars cause honestly, it's not that great. Coffee was awful. Come on, it's a breakfast place, at least have good coffee. So we ordered the regular bacon and eggs and brown toast, with a pancake to start. The waitress brings our meal but there's no home fries. I'm like, I don't get it, where's the home fries? She goes, you didn't ask for them. Excuse me? I'm suppose to say I want bacon, eggs, home fries and toast? Good gawd. Finally an INEXPENSIVE breakfast spot!! Originally from Michigan, we're used to good cheap breakfast places (ie. Diners & Coney Islands) but in our 5 years of living here we have yet to find a place anywhere comparable until now. Since it was our first time here, we wanted to sample quite a few things. We got a traditional breakfast. Eggs were cooked perfect, hash browns were nice and crispy (like I requested) and it came with a nice thick piece of ham. We also got the French toast, corned beef hash and biscuits & gravy. French toast appeared to be on Texas toast so it was pretty big and tasted great. Biscuits & Gravy were one of the best I've ever had! All that amazing food plus coffee & OJ was only $30 and we came after the morning specials had ended. Family owned and super friendly. I always see this little place, next to Hurricane Eddie's on my way to and from honeymoon island. We decided to stop in for breakfast after an early morning of shelling. Three kids in our party thought it needed a serious remodel, and I told them all about "dive restaurants" and how they can be the best kind. But Brenda's is somewhere in the middle. It doesn't really have enough personality to be a cool dive, but it also isn't nice or new. There is some kitschy decor, which I like. The two waitresses and the woman on the grill are reminiscent of Betty White. Our waitresses complimented the kids in our party on their behavior, but the other one sneered at them (for no reason). Ours were the only kids in there, and I jokingly asked my husband if this was a 55+ restaurant. Food did not come quickly. It took a little while, which is ok, but we were definitely all ready for it. I had french toast, which was eggy on one side, but still pretty good. Bacon was crispy. Pancakes were bigger than the plate! Corned beef hash was crispy, and there was a different hot sauce on every table to choose from. Home fries were good but without seasoning. I couldn't believe our bill for 5 people was $50. A bit steep, I thought! Next time we'll try another place nearby, but I would come back again I guess. read more

We found Brenda's on YELP this morning while trying to find a new breakfast spot. We were surprised to find we've passed this hidden gem many times but never noticed it tucked away in the little strip mall near Frenchy's in Dunedin. We were a little worried about the wait after reading a few reviews saying it took a long time to be served but we arrived around 12:45pm and found we were eating within about 25 minutes of being sat which isn't too bad in my opinion. The place is small, it seems like the kind of place that has lots of regulars but the food was good and the prices were great. The staff were friendly and attentive. I had the special which was a breakfast sandwich that consisted of a perfectly cooked over medium egg, american cheese, and crispy bacon on a soft and flakey croissant. It was really good but it did not come with a side so I am glad I ordered a side of home fries because it wasn't huge and I was pretty hungry. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich on a bagel - scrambled eggs, american cheese, and a thin sausage patty on an everything bagel. His was good too but I would definitely stick with the croissant and bacon. He also had two blueberry pancakes that were pretty big and very tasty with a side of grits that was also very well cooked. Both sandwiches, side of home fries, side of grits, and two pancakes for about $20. I can easily see someone passing Brenda's and thinking it looks like a hole in the wall so keep it moving but I would suggest you stop and give it a try. Did a 1.5 light run from my front door with Brenda's as a halfway goal from breakfast. I was reminded of all the great homemade eats AND great prices. You on your way to Honeymoon Island? Breakfast at Brenda's! Breakfast Specials Every Tues thru Friday! 2 Egg Omelets are the perfect size for me. Grandma's Biscuits & Sausage Gravy are a local fave as are the Blueberry or Chocolate Chip Pancakes! Corned Beef Hash, Steak & Eggs, Smoked Sausage, and more great menu items. I had a two egg Veggie Omelet to die for! Onion, Green Peppers, & Mushroom in melted Swiss with a half order of Grandma's Biscuits! After that, I had to reassess my review UPWARDS! Lunch? This is the sweetest little breakfast place. It's like going to grammas for a meal. All prices are reasonable and I got a beautiful rose for Mother's Day! It's a solid four stars, it's a little hole in the wall that we have been passing for sometime now and decided to try it out, very small place, nice people,, food comes out a little on the slow side at the time we were there, but it was very busy on a Sunday morning and there's only one lady cooking on a small flat top so that is to be expected. They have lots of regulars as we could tell, coffee was very good, blueberry pancakes were excellent, I had a spinach and feta omelette which was fantastic, loaded with fresh spinach which is rare. I wasn't going to write a review but because there are so many four star reviews, someone needs to to provide an accurate guide. I had breakfast recently on a Saturday. This is a very small restaurant, a main narrow room and a small side room and it's hard to find a seat. It takes a while to get a menu let alone order. There is one cook and a couple of older servers. They are overwhelmed but doing the best they can. I ordered Bacon, a pancake, biscuit, hot tea and an egg cost $10. I applaud them for adding fresh blueberries to the large pancake but it was flat as if they forgot the baking powder. Bacon was over cooked. Took me 10 minutes to get my check. There are other much better breakfast restaurants within one mile, Benedict's, The Covered Bridge for example. Compare and write your review. read more
