I'd give this place six-stars if I could!! First off, the location of this salon is phenomenal…read more Conveniently located in the heart of La Jolla, right on Girard. Tons of foot traffic to observe as I enjoy my service. Second, the ambience of this salon cannot be understated. Modern, cool, extremely artistic. You can see the pride in ownership and of the staff by the way they maintain this business. Location and salon aside, the stylists are incredibly talented, thoughtful and artistic. Passion and style seeps through their scissors and brushes. All staff members are professional, kind, and eager to help. I came in for a cut by Hannah, color by Jerrod and keratin tx by Dan. I walked in with extremely difficult hair. My hair is wirey and frizzy; it looks extremely damaged-- as if I put my hair through a lot of damage when in reality, I'm very low maintenance! I came in seeking a haircut and some golden tones to brighten my hair up for summer. Right when I walked in to this salon, I knew I was in the right hands. Jerrod was very attentive to my coloring desires; he took his time answering all of my questions and when assessing my hair. He was extremely knowledgeable about color. In just one session Jerrod was able to bring light into my previously dull hair. The process wasn't overdrawn and was very comfortable. It can be extremely hard to find the right shade of blonde for my olive skin tone but Jerrod did NOT disappoint. The color is perfect and the babylites give my hair dimension, light and much needed change. Next I had my haircut by Hannah. Again, she too was very attentive to my needs. She really took the time to listen to what I was seeking out of this cut. Hannah was able to bring my ideas to life and elevate them to the next level. I have never been able to rock a blunt, short haircut. But Hannah was positive I could. I was soooo surprised. She took the time to add dimension to my hair with layers. When I walk, my hair moves! I am absolutely thrilled with her ability to give me previously unobtainable results. Last, I had a keratin treatment by Dan. He was thorough and detail oriented. He took pride in ensuring every last hair had been treated. In the end my hair was blow dryed and straightened to integrate the keratin into my hair. The keratin Changed my hair texture from coarse to silky smooth! The keratin treatment really tied the cut and color all together. My hair was now manageable and beautiful!! I couldn't stop admiring it in the mirror. Dan checked over my hair cut, color, and keratin treatment and BOOM I was finished. The whole process was seamless from start to finish. I have never been one to care about hair but after this treatment I see my hair as the ultimate accessory. I will be sure to refer Dleux to all my friends and coworkers. Truly this whole process has been incredible. Thank you dleux!!!

I came in with a clear inspiration photo of a rich brunette with soft, blended caramel highlights…read more Before we even started, I explained that I understood my hair would not turn out exactly like the inspiration photo because my hair is not virgin hair. I've previously colored it with Redken Shades EQ and Cover Fusion on my roots, so I knew my results would vary. I was never expecting an exact replica. I also understand that the inspiration photo was taken in completely different lighting than the photos of my result, and I know lighting can dramatically change how hair color appears. I took all of that into consideration. Even with those differences, I still feel that what I received wasn't simply a variation of the inspiration--it was a completely different color direction. I wasn't expecting perfection, but I did expect my hair to be moving toward the look I had requested. Instead, the final result was much lighter, warmer, and more orange than the rich brunette with soft, neutral caramel dimension I had asked for. The inspiration photo and my final result weren't just slightly different--they looked like two entirely different color goals. My hair also felt noticeably drier afterward, to the point that I ended up cutting about four inches off the ends. I called the salon and scheduled a correction because I genuinely wanted to work together to get closer to the look I originally requested. Unfortunately, the correction appointment was even more disappointing than the original service. Instead of listening to my concerns, the stylist immediately argued with me and insisted that this was exactly what I had asked for. He told me my hair was already "caramel enough" and refused to do lowlights because he felt my hair looked fine the way it was. He then tossed several color swatches onto my lap and told me to pick a color. When I asked if they were semi-permanent, he told me the salon didn't carry semi-permanent color, only a gloss and permanent color. The swatches he gave me were all dark browns, which wasn't what I was asking for, and when I questioned them, he responded that I knew color theory well enough to know what my hair would turn out like. He also told me my ends were compromised and that there wasn't much he could do for me. Before this service, my hair was healthy enough that I wasn't concerned about the ends. Leaving that appointment feeling like I was being blamed for the condition of my hair after a highlighting service was incredibly upsetting. The most disappointing part wasn't just the color--it was the way I was treated. I expected a professional conversation and a collaborative effort to find a solution. Instead, I felt dismissed, argued with, and made to feel like my concerns weren't valid. By that point, I no longer trusted him to work on my hair, so I left without any correction. I paid $350 for this service and walked away with hair I'm unhappy with, hair that feels significantly drier than before, and no resolution

I told him I wanted to go lighter, more blond.. well he did the most amazing golden blond and still kept some of my light brown low lights. It's 100% up to the base of my hair so I show no regrow, which was always a concern/complaint with my last stylist of 15 years. The gray undertones, ok, all my gray, lol. Has complete coverage, where my last color would fade after the second washing. I was referred by a La Jolla local, beautiful, pro surfer who's color and cut is out of this world. My daughter and I have both switched over to Jaylin and Jaylin, I hope you don't mind your new family members, we'll be with you for a long time!
