Myself and Most of family were at our nieces (my god daughters) wedding at The Sands. I usually don't write reviews but in this case I had too. When we first arrived we were all greeted with fresh fruit and wine spritzers. The outdoor ceremony was beautiful. She was right to plan it outdoors because it was just so pretty. The fresh beach air ended up adding to such a wonderful and romantic feeling for her ceremony and our entire family enjoyed it a lot. The ceremony was beautifully decorated with flowers all around her gazebo, which was held outside on a very pretty patio. My sister told us that our niece and her bridal party went down to the beach to take pictures. I would have loved to have seen that because it was such a beautiful day. She looked stunning and I'm sure those beach pictures added to her special moment. All night the bride and groom were full of smiles! I can't stop saying that it was such a beautiful wedding . The dinner party was inside and to me was perfection. After the ceremony we were escorted inside to a beautiful cocktail room that was so elegant with really pretty lighting and decorated lovely. I am from out of town, so this to me was some spectacular room. We have a huge family and the room was big enough to hold a large party. This catering hall out shined themselves with the delicious food and my nieces choices were excellent. At the cocktail hour we were all so fully stuffed and didn't know what to go back to eat, it was that good. The cocktail hour had the most delicious choices, I also had the most amazing sushi. The food stations were well stocked with such great choices. It was one of the most beautiful affairs. The reception room was huge and elegant, and the room was big enough that the music didn't annoy us older people. We figured this was because it was such a spacious sized room. For dinner I had a delicious chicken dish and some of my cousins at my table had a tender piece of steak and fish that was seasoned beautifully and looked perfect. We were raving about our meals. The dj was so much fun and we were all up dancing, the dance floor was a very nice size. The ballroom was also decorated lovely. When the desserts came out we were so impressed again, they were beautifully displayed and so delicious, once again there were so many choices that we left very full. I felt I had to write this review to compliment my niece and her husband for making such a beautiful wedding and a very memorable party. We were all honored to be part of this day. I would like to start by saying the banquet manager/sales person, that we met with, Rachel, was the most knowledgeable sweet and professional lady. My wife and I are paying for our daughter's wedding and we looked at 3 others catering halls. Rachel simply was the best to deal with and we are all so excited in our choice. Let me explain why we chose The sands On Lido. Our family attended a Wedding there last year and decided to look there also for our daughters 2017 Wedding, because the food and venue and decor truly amazed me. The rooms are plenty large and the venue is beautiful. The food choices were outstanding. The place is elegant and spotless. So, with that being said, when my wife and I came in to visit our daughter who lives in NY, we made an appointment and met with one of the managers, Rachel who was lovely and a pleasure to deal with. We went back and booked the wedding and have no doubt that since we have already attended an affair here, that we chose the right place. In addition they chose to book the "wedding package special" that also comes with a company owned by The sands On Lido, called Dream Events, for all the "extras". Rachel sat down with all of us and we decided to already pick out the menu choices so we could be a part of the excitement while we were in NY and while we all were together, so we could plan it all in advance. We chose to upgrade to a sushi station and extra dessert stations and a cordial bar since that was also what we had at the Wedding we attended last year. The way Rachel treated us already left me to believe our daughter will be in good hands on the day of the Wedding. My daughter and future son in law even went back to show her future in-laws The Sands a few weeks later, and once again Rachel took her time explaining everything to them. For dinner that evening after booking the Wedding, we all went to Peters Clam Bar in Island park, which Rachel suggested since it is also owned by The Sands On Lido, and located down the road, and the food was delicious! I had my reception party at sands. Management was nice until it was time for the party we hired outside caterers because we heard bad things about dover we paid for a full bar sands served drinks for about an hour then stopped we paid for a full staff. Staff did not pick up one dish fill one glass or clean anything we cut our own cake because staff was no where to be found nor give us a knife or bring out plates why did we even pay for staff. Our caterers got into a dispute about something because our caterers and the owner had a bad history together,catering competition i guess, that i did not know about so the owner came to me told me to pay him 3500.00 dollars more or he will shut down my party right smack in the middle of it i said no he threatened me then he called the police who was his friend that was on duty in the area on lido blvd and they are very close a 911 call was never made he the called the officers personal cell phone i didn't know business owners had personal police officers on there pay roll police came and had my guests and my wife and i removed from the premisses i told them i wanted to clear out our belongings and i caught staff and management trying to steal our gifts envelopes and food and decorations the police did not care because they were friends with the owner and kick people off the premisses all the time for him we made that place beautiful and they trashed there own name FUCK YOU sands the owner is a bum who does not pay his bills and has hundreds of law suits against him for the same reasons google him and you can find out everything his filthy history sands filthy history and his other filthy business history involving other places he owns and other guests he mentally damaged and scared you will also see the name he uses is not his real name do not give this disgusting place money nothing but lying thieves read more

I have recently attended a few Bar and Bat Mitz of good friends at The Sands in Lido beach. I'm not sure what all the negative comments are. I have to assume it's competition or people posting from years back, I'm not sure, because the parties I have attended have been wonderful. There were so many choices to choose from at the cocktail hour and the food was outstanding. The cocktail hour and the variety was so much more unique than most catering halls and definitely better than the temples are. The kids were hanging in a back location, and had so much fun with various kids stations set up and their choices looked amazing too including Virgin frozen drinks that were so pretty. They had a few games set up and were having a blast. I honestly can't find one thing to complain about. The place was so pretty and all re done. I remember going here when I was a kid myself many years back. The new owner that took over put so much work and detail into it recently, it's really a beautiful place and it is also spotless. My husband and myself and the guests at our table were so happy with our dishes. Not your usual catering hall or temple food. my friend had a fabulous piece of salmon and I had the juiciest skirt steak as if I was eating out in a local restaurant. The desserts were over the top. They had the wait staff come around with all sorts of candy and fun cakes and desserts on platters going all around the room ,I can't even list the variety of items (we didn't know where to look or what to grab next). As my mom would say "what should I grab to nosh on next"?. I highly recommend The Sands in Lido for any type of affair and I am definitely going to look into it when it's my turn to make my sons Bar Mitzvah!! read more

6/15/2015 Just had my youngest son Ryan's Bar Mitzvah there on 06/13/2015. First, we chose this venue because the space was very open and was recently redone after Sandy. This had been a challenge for us because we did not have a large number of people. We guaranteed 80 and ending up having 95. Most otters similar places needed many more people (around 120) to hold at a nice big banquet space. Worked directly with Rachael (administrative assistant) about a month before the party who was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. She also had excellent follow thru with all the details. On the day of the event Nicole (Matre D) was also quite helpful and just wanted to please us and make our day special along with the rest of the staff. We found the food to be very good. The main dishes we had was skirt steak, salmon and a stuff chicken. The cocktail hour food was also very good. All of my guests also really liked the food. What is also nice is about a month before our party we got to go and do a food tasting which was done at the Choral house in Baldwin, same owners. Finally, our overall experience we were very happy and would definitely recommend this place. The only negative for me was my previous two events ( a bar & bat mitzvah) were done at OJC. Dealing directly with one person (the owner at OJC caterer) was a little easier then the whole corporate structure which you have at the Sands. The Sands IS once again AMAZING!!! I was a guest at Jessica & Nick's wedding this past Saturday. I've been to almost every catering facility on Long Island and the Sands is one of, if not the best, large catering hall experiences I have ever had. Be it the buffet type of the standard two or three choice sit down dinner the food and service do not usually scale up with quantity. At The Sands, however, both seemed to scale up beyond what many facilities offer for personal service. Everything across the board was really quite amazing. From the venue itself, valet parking, the food, the service, and so on, I kept being surprised as to how much attention to detail was expressed. Even some things I have actually not seen anywhere before like napkin changes at different course points during the meal. On drink service they remembered what was ordered and kept your glass full. Though there was wine at the table, as seems to be a regular thing, they made sure your glass was full if you started using a bottle. Even with everything being taken care of there were still people around asking if there was anything else they could do. The truly amazing experience was having a meal selection for the main course that is equal to some smaller sit down restaurant menus. Beyond this there is the crazy, over the top, cocktail hour that made me feel like I was on a TV show but all of that stuff would be meaningless without the outstanding food and service. read more

First I have to start out by saying it was a bumpy road at first but Rachel and Mike made every thing well worth it in the end! We held our wedding here on September 25, 2015. It was the first and only venue we looked at and we do not have a single regret giving the sands our business. We had a few different managers taking care of us in the beginning which led to a few complications but once Rachel and Mike stepped in and took over it was smooth sailing! They are ying and yang and complete opposites and I think that's why they work so well. Rachel is one of the most efficient hard working people I know. She crosses all her T's and dots her I's and then triple double doggy checks for accuracy! I mean the woman is amazing. Mike is super easy going and makes you feel like you've been friends for years. He really helped calm my husbands nerves before the ceremony and that to me says a lot! They really made the last two months of the wedding planning experience a breeze. As for the day of the wedding, everything went seamlessly perfect from start to finish! All of our guest said the food was superb and the decor outstanding! Do not believe any of these old reviews because now with Rachel and Mike running the show there, I can guarantee you your in good hands!!!! read more

I recently attended a sweet 16 here and all I can say is WOW!!! I am completely blown away by any bad review or how anyone could find anything wrong with this place. It was beautiful venue. The food was amazing, a cocktail reception was held in one room with butler passed hors d'oeuvres and some cold items. They have these amazing lobster tacos which are alone worth having a party at this location Then they moved us into the main party room and WOW I was blown away so beautiful. The lighting was amazing. The food was buffet style with multiple stations Italian, latin and ball park.... how cute is that?!?!? The kids loved it!! Everything I ate was delicious and I think I tried it all Now on to the desserts...... AMAZING doesn't even begin to describe Butler passed desserts.... mini cheesecakes, rainbow cookie, pastries, cake shots and cake pops The staff was right there to clear your table get you a drink whatever you wanted they couldn't be more accommodating The only negative thing I could possibily say is the DJ was a little to loud for me and most of the adults... but the kids didn't mind that one bit I really hope I get invited to another party really soon at this venue and I will definitely keep them in mind for my own future parties read more

I'm writing this review in regards to my experiences with the Sands on Lido Beach for an annual fundraiser I host every year. I am dumbfounded at the negative reviews for this place. The staff is so accommodating and willing to do whatever it takes to make sure your day is special. I will admit that when first booking, I did not know that they do not work directly on site. Once I received Laurie's contact information from the Dover Group, who by the way is extremely personable and responsive, it has been nothing but a pleasant experience. She goes above and beyond to make sure that the events I host are incredible. Before discrediting this location, think about the impact that negative reviews have on companies and the people that work for them. In my opinion, the location and the price offsets the minor inconvenience of not having a secretary sitting on the grounds of the Sands on Lido every minute to answer phone calls. Contact the Dover group and they will provide you with the necessary contact information and you will have no problem staying in touch. read more

This place was truly spectacular. I threw my mother's 50th birthday here, and it was the most magical experience! First of all, this place is truly unique, because only one party is there at a time, which we loved, because it insured our party was paid attention and catered to the whole evening. The dining room for the cocktail hour is GORGEOUS. The buffet that we picked out had truly phenomenal food, and the bar area was one of the prettiest I have ever seen. The entire staff at this location is so friendly, and all the guests loved the food. When it came time to venture into the party room, the results were better than I could ever hoped for. All I can say is WOW. I love this place. My best friend's daughter recently got married here, and it was the most spectacular thing I have ever seen. First of all, what is truly unique about this place is that there is one party at a time, which is truly incredible if you think about it -- all the attention was on our party!!! Secondly, the food at cocktail hour AND the reception blew me away. It was so tasty and fresh and delicious, me and my husband STUFFED our faces all night!!! Well, when we weren't on the dance floor, because we were dancing the night away!! I am Completely blown away by these HORRID reviews. I saw a couple bad ones but still took a chance on this place after sitting down with Jeff (at the time 2/14 he was in charge of booking). I was pretty nervous but Jennifer held my hand the whole way. My wedding 9/5/14 was absolutely wonderful and i am so thankful that i looked past the reviews and booked. EVERYONE in attendance was blown away with every aspect of the wedding. The outdoor ceremony, cocktail hour, food, drinks, presentation everything was just what i hoped for and dreamed of. My daughter had her wedding there September of 2015 and it was perfect. From the time we met with Rachael and any other staff member to the final dance my daughter and son in law could not have been happier. The ceremony was breathtaking outside with the sunsetting in the background. The cocktail hour was the best I have ever seen. My husband and I are extremely please with our experience with Jennifer and The Sands on Lido Beach. We booked our wedding two years prior to the actual event and I must say every vendor that was recommended to us was phenomenal. The staff at The Sands were extremely attentive to EVERY single detail that we planned for our wedding. We were married on 6/29/2014. I have been to many events at The Sands both before and after the renovations and new ownership, and I have to say it is absolutely at its prime! The venue is beautiful. They did a full renovation after hurricane sandy, and the entire inside looks like a glamorous hotel. its a beautiful and modern space with a classic look. Its definitely worth seeing. The best part of the sands is that only one event can happen at a time, which makes it an even more special day for the hosts! We had my son's bar mitzvah at the Sands on 3/29/14. The party was awesome! We got a bar mitzvah package and everyone we dealt with was helpful, friendly and professional. Jennifer, the banquet manager, made everything easy. Adam, from Dream Events, was easy to deal with regarding the decorations and favors, and awesome DJ! My son had a great day. Everyone - kids and adults can't stop raving about the party! I just read all of the negative reviews of the Sands and I don't understand them at all. I had my engagement party at the Sands and they did a beautiful job with the room. Victoria was in charge of my room and she made sure everything went smoothly. We had a small party so we only had the lido room, but what an impression it makes. They had said its normally there cocktail room. The nicest cocktail room I have ever been in. We had rented a DJ from there in house company as well as centerpieces and an ice sculpture. The next day people were calling saying how wonderful of a party it was. My wedding was shut down because our caterers got into a dispute with the owners so they took it out on us called the police and had our guest removed. I think this place is disgusting, management does not know what they are doing, we paid for staff and they all went home. We cut our own cake. We were lied to . The owner has lawsuits up the wazzoo becuase of all the people he screwed over. Look him up you will see it all do not have anything at this horrible place.
