This place can't decide if it's an English tea cafe or a Jewish deli. I came for brunch and I did not get a brunch menu. I was so excited when I heard about this place. I brought my family for an April 5 2026 Easter brunch. The food quality was mediocre. They even ruined a simple matzoh ball soup. I ordered the "Dill combo" and I got a small 1/2 of a pastrami sandwich it looked like a quarter of a sandwich and the pastrami was over processed and bright red looking and floppy and disgusting it was low quality. I will definitely not go back here. The matzoh ball soup tasted like dish water it was in a "chicken " soup" with no flavor and the matzoh ball was hard and uncooked properly in the middle: very unprofessional. A matzoh ball should be yellow and fluffy and light. This was dark colored and looked old and was hard The pastrami tasted overly processed and I didn't like it Coleslaw was not tasty or salted The salmon was not on point and didn't taste fresh or have capers. They served it on a brioche bun. Seriously? A brioche bun? The challah French toast was tasty and my son appreciated that it was hot and fresh. The water had an actual mint branch in it and it was room temperature. Glasses looked dirty There was no sign for it when we were driving. It's located in a plaza. Every store on the strip has a sign under the plaza sign except this place. There is very limited parking and this place can't decide if it's Jewish or French with the decor of bright yellow wallpaper and small English tea cups. They blare loud music nobody knows why. They have a gigantic TV on the wall blaring . To go to the bathroom there is 1 stall for the whole restaurant. In order to get there you have to pass the kitchen window with the food to be served waiting to be picked up at the counter. Unsanitary! What a wonderful find. Place was recommended by a family member. Still can't believe we hadn't heard of it sooner tho. Very nicely decorated "tea shop" that serves brunch. Small and intimate but they do a great business. We ordered the egg, cheese and pastrami sandwich, with Russian dressing, but swapped for the brisket as they ran out of pastrami. It was delicious. Matcha tea was great. The coffee was very good too. I find too often that you can't get a good cup of coffee in many establishments. Also ordered the Challah French toast, with a side of bacon. Butter was melted in the syrup. Absolutely delicious. Service was great. Friendly staff. Bill was reasonable. I had a disappointing experience at Sandwich & Pickle. About an hour before arriving, I called to ask for a table for two and was told there was no need to make a reservation and that they could seat us about 30 minutes later. When we arrived, however, we were told they couldn't seat us because there were reservations coming in 40 minutes, even though there were three empty tables available. We tried to explain what we were told on the phone, but the staff didn't seem interested in hearing us out. They told us we can be on a wait list but we ultimately left. It's adorable but unless you want to book the place out I don't suggest large crowds. It was late lunchtime and I chose the half sammich and soup option. This comes with a potato salad or cole slaw as well. They have a generous drinks menu including coffee drinks. They were "out of corned beef for the day" but the brisket on the sandwich was moist and delicious. The potato salad is actually a Salad Olivier; classic to me. I've eaten here twice so far. As far as menu goes it's an updated Jewish deli menu with extras. It's a genre of food that is most sorely needed on Staten Island. I've had the latkes, matzah ball soup, corn beef, pastrami, palmeni, and Israeli salad. All very good. Food is served on china and the interior of the restaurant is adorable. I think a needle point similar to what was in my grandmothers house was hanging on the wall. Service is friendly but the second time around not as attentive as my first time there. One dish was never out in and server never checked in on us until I mentioned the one dish didn't come out. I attribute this to the place becoming more popular. I've been wanting to come here cos this is like the only place with good ratings for brunch on SI! Its a bit hidden, i've drove past this small lot so many times but never noticed it ! They have a tiny lot, white laced curtains at the door. Inside is a small and cozy restaurant. Think floral wallpapers, chandeliers and vintage shelves, baby breaths on the table. Such a cute decor! The grille special said 2 grilled knockwurst sausages, with "steak" fries, sauerkraut, pickles, and mustard. It was just 2 large hot dogs, cut fancy & probably microwaved.
