The place was very beautiful and very nice for the cabins there but the campers and staff there were extremely disrespectful and rude to the point were they yelled at me as I'm leaving and gave looks if you're not a seasonal camper they treat you like an outsider or like they own the place over you I will never camp there again read more

Sandy Pond has become a go-to spot, with several trips here per year - generally four times or more. Their rates are reasonable and fair. It's a clean, simple campground with RV hookups at many sites and some welcome extra amenities, such as the bounce pit and family programming. This is a family-run business, and we've always found the staff to be pleasant and professional. The few times we've had to cancel last-minute, we found them to be more accommodating than expected or even warranted. There was one occasion when they didn't have a charged battery available for our rented electric golf cart; they lent us one of their gas-powered carts and waived the rental fee for that first day, turning a very minor inconvenience into an overall pleasant and welcome memory. We regularly recommend Sandy Pond to friends and family and have brought many here, as well, including some first-time campers. read more

Literally the worst experience I've had camping or really doing anything ever. They are a complete ripoff and will find anyway to get more money from people. I booked a site tent only site online for 2 people. On the day of check in my roommate decided to come with us. At check in, I asked the girl working if it's okay that we added another person and asked if it would cost more. She said no if they are in the same household as you. So I didn't think it would be a problem and I made it clear that we had 3 people. I also should have known by the $10 gate key deposit only being accepted in cash (despite the email the Doonans sent to me saying that it would be tacked on to my credit card and then refunded) that things were not going to go as planned. Luckily I had cash. The issue arises when my boyfriend arrived at the campground. The gate was down so he went in to ask to be let in. They ended up charging him $20 for the extra vehicle fee. First off, it says NOWHERE in their policies or in the handbook they give you OR when you're making a reservation that there is an extra fee for another vehicle. (Like, are we parking in Fenway or are we parking our car in the middle of the woods?). The woman at the front desk asked my boyfriend if he was the second or the third one for our campsite arriving. So she knew that we had 3 people and remembered me from earlier. Fast forward another hour when our roommate arrives. He goes to the registration as well to ask to be let in and they REFUSE to let him in because you can only have 2 vehicles per campsite and my registration was only for 2 people anyways. Which, once again, is not stated ANYWHERE. I rechecked every email, every fine print on the website and in the welcome packet they gave me. Absolutely nothing says that. They also wouldn't even let him onto our campsite because the girl never updated it in the computer that there would be 3 adults. So instead of doing what any respectable company would do (which is just simply adding him to the registration and having him pay the extra 20 bucks for another person and saying hey you can park somewhere and they can pick you up) they said the only way for him to be allowed in is if he BOOKS AN ENTIRE CAMPSITE HIMSELF. Lets also not forget that its 8:30 pm so there's really no other options. And the cost for another campsite for 2 days was $89. On top of the almost $100 I already spent for my own site. Plus the $20 my boyfriend had to pay for a second car I called the office and the extremely rude woman said that that's just their policies and that they can't do anything about it and that my registration was only for 2 people. She was there when the other girl was checking me in and was listening to the whole thing. She said the girl must have misunderstood what I was asking. I thought I made it pretty clear that I was adding a person. For $200 for 3 people to camp for 2 nights is absolutely ridiculous. They literally swindled us and knew exactly what they were doing. I can understand an extra fee for the 3rd car, and I can even understand an extra fee for a 3rd person. But to say he's not allowed in without booking his own site is such terrible customer service and just straight up deceitful seeing as these policies are not listed ANYWHERE. Especially because it was their mistake and not mine. So, buyer beware. They are scam artists and I am not the kind of person to write a bad review. I bartend for a living and deal with this kind of thing on the daily, but this was the worst customer service experience of my life and the owners should be ashamed. Giving this place two stars because the younger girl In the registration office was rude when we registered our kids to jump on the jump pad. They were supposed to turn it on in the morning and decided to not turn it on. When we asked to turn on the pad she said she would when she's not busy. Like come on! Then when we went to the camp store they were power washing the building with bleach and it was dripping from the roof and it dropped on our clothing. When we complained the older lady disagreed with us and said it's not bleach. It bleached our shirts! I don't know the only thing this place has going for it is the pond. read more

Worst campground I've ever been in. They charge an arm and a leg for a tent site with no electric. It's crowded with people on top of each other so if you want privacy, this isn't the place to go. The bathrooms and showers are disgusting, they don't maintain them. Some kid smeared poop on the walls. The bathrooms by the park/office smells like mold. Tiles are falling off the walls, shower rooms have no proper ventilation or drainage. None of the campers have good camping etiquette and play harmonicas at 7am while their dogs bark for hours. Water pressure in the showers are horrible. Felt like I was showering in a small sprinkler. I'll never camp here again. Don't book here. Take your hard earned money else where. read more

Horrible checking in process. The "security" guard at the gate was a Class A A-hole. Nearly caused damage to our combination unit and talked rudely to my family. Regardless of the rest of the visit the poor hospitality at check in will mean this is our last stop at this campground. DO NOT VISIT. This camp ground is run by idiots. They are completely rude and favor seasonal campers over anyone else. We had a group of seasonal campers scream in front of my children. ALSO apparently if your new, seasonal campers will send their children over to live at your campsite the entire time. If you try to report anyone the office will not listen to you and will actually yell at you. They have an old grumpy man who drives a red truck and kisses up to the seasonal folks while if you even sneeze after 10 PM he'll throw you out for bad behavior. This morning we were harassed non stop by their staff about "checking out " . People literally came to our lot with threats and attitude and demanded we " get out right now !". Something about check out at 11 am but if we stayed until 6 pm we would just have to additionally pay for half a day . We had paid upon entering for the 2 nights , but assumed we would pay for " extended " checkout so to say when we left since we also gave cash refundable deposits for each car parking/gate pass and obviously we'd be checking out to get those back. Several people kept coming over the course of an 2 hours and even started taking pictures of our plates for when " the police get here ". After such a great weekend camping this really left a sour taste in my mouth. In all of the years we have gone camping ( in NH, Maine , NY campgrounds ) I've never experienced such unprofessional, disorganized and unpleasant staff. Every time we interacted with the staff was A+ We were late in arrival but they helped us check in after hours and checked up on us later the next day etc. They know how to run a campground and it was appreciated by my party. I've done a ton of car camping and know what to expect and Sandy Pond delivered in every way they could. Campsites were exactly as advertised. Sites were tight. More than 75% season employees that work on Cape Cod, which meant from about 5-630am you are listening to all the trucks leaving as people go to work. All day the place is completely deserted, the events that are listeddont happen. At around 530 to 6:pm everyone arrives home has dinner by 8 o'clock it's quiet time you can't have a fire anything because all the people around you are trying to sleep so they can work in the morning. The campgrounds WiFi is non existent making it impossible to work from the campground. Cell phone service is also sketchy. The camper parked next to me had no hook ups so It was forced to share the same electrical pedestal and water as I had causing my electrical cord to heat up excessively and my water pressure dropped to half of what I had when I first got there. Check out was a back up. No one to check you out at the gate so you are forced to abandon your tv on the exit road blocking traffic to turn in the gate card and check out. Also got charged an extra 30.00 for a second car. Tom bad about the above items because the campground is conveniently located to the cape cod canal. Don't think I'll be back though. read more

This campground was very clean and the staff was excellent! Even during Covid there was plenty to do. Having been to other campgrounds, the only thing I would say is they don't have a lot of activities for the kids or adults, but possibly that's due to Covid. There are plenty or hiking trails which we enjoyed. The beach/pond area was very impressive. You can tell they cleaned it on a daily basis. I highly recommend and will be returning! read more

Have to say from the first time I camped here and it became my happy place 2 yrs ago until now, this place changed. Bathroom doors off the bathrooms & even some stalls . Didn't have the preferred spot " available" even though my boyfriend & I went by it & it was empty??? Get greeted by the " gate keeper" rudely telling us we can't park at check in. We said we just arrived & HAVE to CHECK IN& then can move to ummmm ... a camp site? Started chillin in our hammock late afternoon, tried napping, but was centered between 5 different sites one couple arguing about " potato salad"& bloody kids screaming at the tops of their lungs. Never actually got to napping. There are obvi people who smoke on vacas & getaways & at the first aroma through the air, staff was circling like vultures on their golf carts. So maybe your ad should now read Camping for children, families & SNOBS. Everyone else should stay away!! This ones real life too- went to the bathroom for privacy, a woman with short hair comes in bathroom eating food from a potluck that was going on and starts shoving the mop under my stall while I was trying to go to the bathroom. I came out. She left. I went back in, she went back in. Then after all this got told to leave for noise - no questions asked / no explanation allowed. That's ok because I'm an educated person who read the code of conduct for campers- only problem is that it didn't mention how it only applies to SOME not ALL. Last trip in. Loud dirty & weird. Was very fond of this campground. Once we started back last year, Sandy Pond was our go to and actually had several trips down there in 2020. Had opened with them this year and had booked Columbus Day weekend this year as well. My family also spent quite a bit of time there throughout the year with my nieces and nephew. We had planned on visiting their campsite one weekend that we had not actually planned one to take my nephew a birthday cake for dinner. My sister-in-law actually called and spoke with the office that we were planning on stopping by for a visit around supper time and was advised for us to check in at the office (as all visitors must do). That Saturday we arrived and when my spouse started into the office to check in and pay the visitor rate, the older gentlemen as the "security booth" yelled out and asked "where do you think your going?" To which was replied "into the office". The staff then responded "No your not, the office is closed." My spouse replied by asked "your joking right? as it was only a little after 6pm. The staff member replied again by saying "no, does it look like I'm kidding?" Stunned by this, my spouse asked "well what do we do?", to which he replied by yelling "go home". No customer service what so ever, no explanation, no care. We immediately left and I called and left a voice message to have someone from the office call me, as there is no information on their website that would have supported us not being allowed to visit our family, as their guest policy states, guest may visit until 9pm. My brother in-law, who was camping unfortunately, spoke up to the staff at the gate and exchanged some words with him over his behavior, however we had not waited around to witness this interaction. The next day, a young staff member phoned me and was so pleasant to talk with and apologized for the interaction and even cited that they had closed the office early the day before. She stated that she would have the owner phone me during the business week. Still having the birthday cake from the evening before, we decided to chance it again and take the 30 minute drive back down and surprise our family Upon our arrival, my spouse went into the office and checked in, paying the rate. During the check in the young staff member again apologized, and even on the way out of the office was approached by a seasonal, that had heard about the interaction and even said she was embarrassed for the staff members behavior. The next day, I received a call from Jane, one of the owners. She immediately sounded as if she was put out from calling me, not very interested in what I had to say, as she wanted to attempt to over talk me and make excuses for her staff member (Rick) who would never say anything like that, although added that he did have a dry sense of humor. As I continued to try to explain to her what had happened, she took more interest in the interaction with my family the the staff, which I didn't know anything about. She argued that they office was in fact open until 7pm, which I told her that was not the case, and could check cameras, as well as the time that left a voice message. She then quickly wanted to "educate" me on their policies that my family received in their confirmations about them "registering" visitors. It just so happened I had my reservation confirmation for the October trip in front of me, and inquired if that was the document she was referencing to? She confirmed it was, to which I quickly began reading her the language and at no point did it indicate that guests needed to be pre-registered with the office, and that had not been the past practice just two-three weeks before when my son (20) and my mother and father-in laws visited and we never give the office any "heads-up" that they were visiting. Jane continued to argue that this was their policy, practically calling my version of the incident and the facts a lie. After placing me on hold multiple times, she began becoming impatient and unwilling to correct the action of her staff member, and my request of him apologizing for his rudeness, she stated I've been on the phone with you for 45 minutes, what do you want from me? Well numerous minutes of the 45 minutes was contributed to being put on hold, but I replied just a refund of our October trip. Suddenly she had plenty of time to help with that, and immediately refunded our trip. Very sad to have eventually learned that my family that was camping was confronted, and was to share with me that I was no longer allowed back, and that I seemed entitled. In fact, the only thing that I am entitled to is to be treated with dignity and respect, as should anyone. I did not expect anything other then accepting ownership and to speak with the staff member. Unfortunately it seems that if you are not a season camper, and are a "transient" which we had been called by a seasonal during our trip the weeks prior, you do not matter. read more

This place, sandy pond, is trash!!! No good !!! -The campsites are really small and you dont know where yours end and your neighbors start. - no one fallow the quiet time. Supposedly after 11 pm no one is supposed to make loud noises but a lot of people had parties until late at night. People next to me stay every night till 4am , drinking , singing , we compliant abut it and all they do is told them to lower the music - they cut the lights on the bathrooms after 12am, that sucks !!!! The beach at the lake was lame,!!! Dirty and really really small.. The campground has seasonal sites that appear unkept and very messy and junky looking and the owners have tons of junk thrown under their trailers.No grass anywhere and the trees on the roads have low limbs that hit your RV and actually tore my antenna off the top of my trailer. One bathroom/shower house open for the entire campground, the other was under renovation. A drunk seasonal resident on a golf chart chased my husband and came to our site cursing and yelling at my husband. When I told the office at check out they didn't seem to care. It cost me $200 for 3 nights off season and got nothing. Rip off. I would NEVER recommend this campground and would NEVER go back. read more

This was my first time there..... just got a new motor home and wanted to go somewhere not to far to get more accustomed to the camper... It was a nice campground... staff helped me park...not too crowded near my site... I had the woods and trails behind me which was great for walking the dog.... they had a pig roast while I was there.. I was not part of it but it drew a huge crowd and folks all seemed to enjoy it.... they had some nice private tent sites for those to have tents.... staff was friendly..... I would go back again... We found our new go to spot! We stayed here Labor Day weekend and didn't leave until they closed for the season. It's a relaxing quiet spot full of great people who are all very friendly. The staff was great, very hard working and friendly and they have an awesome store with everything we needed. The beach on Little sandy pond is beautiful and there are a ton of hiking trails on the grounds. Very dog friendly! read more

Had the best couple of days. The restrooms were clean. Staff were friendly and mingled when they drove by on golf carts. They kept the place spotless. I plan on going back as much as I can next year. The biggest negative here was that they don't have a pool. The pond is ok (very flat so not a lot of water circulation) but the small space fills up quickly. The playgrounds are both minimal with some swings and a slide. The bouncy pad had no management nor did I see anyone clean it or sanitize between uses. A lot of disorganization in the office as they could not find paperwork for boat rentals. Positives- the music on Saturday night was nice, the sites were nice spaces with trees between but still close together. A major positive was the well stocked store. Many, many, many nice trails through the woods. Negative: No kid activities. Make sure you have a long water hose because the electric and water hook up are very far apart. The staff expects you to know stuff like to enter through the exit road when checking in and when walking to the store there is a lane to walk in (which is not indicated anywhere). read more

My husband and I go camping at Sandy pond every year, one weekend every month through the summer. Sandy pond is a great place for us to just kick back and relax. Its a friendly family campground and the Doonan family does a great job running the campground and the staff are friendly. Covid-19 has changed every thing this year, however, Sandy Pond has adapted well. They went to local government to get campgrounds opened this spring and we thank you as this gave us an escape from the craziness of this virus this year, even though we still had to wear mask to go to office & store, we practice social distancing, we were able to relax and enjoy our stay as we have always done in years past. Clean park, beach for swimming, canoeing, fishing, hiking and walking, play ground for kids, basket ball, rental golf carts, hay rides are suspended due to covid-19, limited activities, great store with grocery, liquor and deli. It's not the Hilton, if your looking for the Hilton and special treatment then I suggest you go to the Hilton for pampered service, however, if your looking for the kick back relaxing camping experience, than this is the place for you. read more

I didn't have the same experience that the other yelp reviewer had when visiting Sandy Pond. It was complete opposite for me. The staff was not by any means helpful what-so-ever while we camped. This was my first camping experience and this will be my last at Sandy Pond. First complaint-- they have a daily activity list that they hand you once you arrive. The list never says where to go-- so you walk around the campground aimlessly asking other campers where the activities are. When we finally did find the spot (this was for game night at 7pm) we waited for a half hour on the grass staring at the door for the recreational room to open. Sadly, it never did. As I tried to calm my crying 4-year-old, I had no explanation to give him for why game night had become extinct. Not one staffer (from the 5 that were on that night) came down in the golf cart to announce that game night had been canceled. So we trekked back up to the camp site with my very sad toddler to have "game night" in the tent. (We did later over hear from another camper that game night was canceled due to a late check in that needed, I guess, all five staff members?) Next issue, which I need to add is the BIGGEST one with Sandy Pond. As a newbie to camping, we stupidly charged our cellphones in the car and never started it while being there for the three nights that we were. During a hectic hour before checkout, we realized our car battery died. We walked up to the office where a very cute, shy 15-year-old handled the front desk. My husband asked her if she had someone to either jump us or give us a jump started to do it without connecting to another car. She politely said she would make some phone calls to the staff around the camp. We stood there for about 10 minutes as she called about 3 staff members. She, as any 15-year-old, stumbled with being able to reiterate what we needed to the staffers. After standing there for 10 minutes, we walked away mind boggled. Not one person was able to help us!? As we walked out, the girl at the front desk said, "Hey, you need to check out though!" :/ So I called my 8.5 months pregnant sister to drive 25 minutes to come jump me. When she arrived, her cables ended up being too short. We made another trip to the office and asked the same girl if she could ask the staff if they had longer jumping cables. SCORE! They did! She said, no problem, they would be there in a minute to let us borrow them. 28 minutes passed, we positioned my sister's car in all shorts of ways while waiting for longer cables. Finally, after moving a picnic table, having her drive on top of a tree trunk, and practically having the cars kiss-- we were able to jump start it. In the corner of my eye, I see a maintenance truck heading down to us-- 32 minutes later! The maintenance driver rolls down his window and says, "Hey, you all set?" My husband replies with a yes-- (I guess the maintenance man felt some guilt because then he gave us this huge excuse that he was told someone else had already helped us and that he was just driving by to make sure.) So to make a long story short-- I am one unhappy camper with Sandy Pond. And have no plans to stay there ever again! read more

Not friendly, rude campground sign in people. We have been here before to dump our rv. This time we stopped to dump and pay and they said we couldnt because they were too busy. Are you kidding i do all the work when dumping, they are too busy to move their fingers and take my money? They don't even have to expend energy telling me where the dump station is, i used it a week ago, when they were pleased to take my money. I've been coming to Sandy Pond since I was a kid (I'm now 30). Sandy Pond has everything you need for a fun camping trip. The general store not only has your typical snack foods and ice but also sells beer, wine, and has a deli. There are onsite hookups for water and electricity. There is laundry if you need it and free and paid showers. I go for the free showers. There are two playgrounds, a pond for swimming and fishing and trails if you feel like going for a walk in the woods. Sandy Pond has a lot of planned activities from hay rides to movie nights to dances with a DJ. There is a small arcade for the kids to keep themselves busy. The owners seem very involved with the campground. I always see them around talking to people and making sure people are enjoying themselves. Great place for kids and adults to go camping. read more

If your looking for an authentic tent camping experience do not waste your time with sandy pond campground -small, sloped, and lumpy tent site, which were so close to one another it was hard to tell where one started and the other ended. -canping etiquite has clearly not been emphasized or enforced, loud music and loud neighbors well past the 11pm cut off and before the 8 am wake up time A flat semi secluded site and a peaceful experience are what i consider essential for a good tent camping experience. Our family bought an RV in April 2019 primarily for our family of 8. Have 4 grandchildren under the age of 9 living with us along with their parents for childcare necessities. 2 are special needs. The RV was to serve as a respite from the daily stress and a chance to relax on the weekends. Doing our homework, Sandy Pond fit the bill, and my daughter and I applied for a seasonal site which was granted for the summer 2019. Our contract was accepted, signed by Jane, the owner. Since only 2 adults were allowed on the site, I paid extra for my husband and son-in-law to be added as seasonal guests to the contract .This was also signed by Jane. We all had a blast!! We enjoyed all the eventful weekends, Luau, Christmas in July, hayrides, & Halloween. The kids loved the pond swimming & fishing. Our autistic grandson loved Halloween the best with the costumes, trick-or-treating, & the squash throwing contest, which he won a prize for and never got to use. He was looking forward to his cart ride in the 2020 season. The 2019 season ended and we all looked forward to renewing for 2020. Dick, owner, was super helping us novices winterize and covering the RV for the winter. We renewed our contract "as is summer 2019" and paid the first 2 installments for 2020. On Feb. 1, before Covid 19 became a household word, our contract was broken when we were told that only 2 adults would be on the contract, my husband and myself. I questioned the reasoning and was told to read the contract and the rules. We had a contract in 2019 for everyone, and I didn't understand the change. I was told to make the last 2 payments or I would loose what I had already paid. ($4800. total) I felt this was entrapment, but waited till the summer 2020 played out. On June 8th an E-mail said that adult children could not be added as they do not live at the same address. We all do. Jane would not speak to us, claimed I was abusive to the staff, suggested I get another campsite in the park, or leave for another campground. As a result, we could not use the RV, except for a couple of day trips with 2 grandkids the entire 2020 season. All of this was blamed on employee error or Covid. I could understand Covid, but Jane changed the contract before Covid existed, and as restrictions loosened, I still could not split grandkids to come to the RV because of childcare supervision,or have their parents come. My question: Just who was supposed to watch the other kids on the second site, and what were they going to sleep in? Why was I given 2 gate keys for 2 registered vehicles when only 1 allowed on site? As we were cleaning and closing for the season, on recommendation from the owner, we moved to another campground, one that welcomed our family of 8 with open arms. Would you believe that before we were officially off the site, someone stole our brand new rubbermaid storage bin filled with wood. I reported this to the owners, and was told this happens all the time at the end of the season. So much for surveilance cameras. After talking to other campers about our experiences, we now know others that have experienced price changes, changes in rules and regulations even in written contacts. One highlight- Cindy!!!!! She kept the bathrooms so clean, you could eat off the floor. Thank you for being so kind and helpful to our family. The camp ground was very clean and very nice my kids had a lot of fun we wish we could of rented a golf cart bc that's all my son wanted to do the whole weekend we were there but they were all rented we rented the to road bike things which were fun but pretty pricey especially when you have a few kids my kids loved the dance but at the end we had checked out a little later then we expected bc my kids were giving me a hard time and the front desk person gave me a little attitude bc of late check out and someone had and early check in on our site that we were at and I told her I was sorry I don't know much more I could of done and she just seemed pretty mad at me but other then that my kids had fun read more
