Long review from a long-term camper, but if you're considering staying here, it's worth the read so you know what you're paying for. My husband and I have stayed here for the past three years, and this year has been, without question, the worst experience we've had. We prepaid for a 6-month stay, expecting a quiet, well-managed campground. Instead, we've dealt with inconsistency, poor communication, and management that seems focused on the wrong priorities. Before the campground was even fully open, we came to prepare our camper because there were already other campers on the property. While we were there, a woman repeatedly followed us around and watched us before finally approaching us. Rather than treating us like returning guests who have stayed here for years, we were made to feel like we didn't belong and were questioned as if we were trespassing or trying to live here for free. Ironically, people who don't even pay to stay here regularly park on the property to use the lake without anyone questioning them. Apparently, paying customers receive more scrutiny than people who aren't customers at all. Because of that interaction, we were told we couldn't return for weeks. When we were finally allowed back, our electricity hadn't even been turned on, and we had to wait while no one seemed particularly concerned about getting it working. Then, completely out of the blue, we were told we had a past-due balance that had supposedly existed all along. At no point were we ever notified. No phone call. No email. No letter. No conversation. Yet somehow we were expected to fix a problem we didn't even know existed. Meanwhile, the issues that actually affect paying guests continue to be ignored. On weekends and almost every holiday, large groups takes over the campground with 20+ tents, blasting music well into the night and early morning with absolutely no respect for the people who actually pay to stay here. They spread out wherever they want, take over common areas, and even park in front of occupied campsites to the point that we've had trouble getting into our own site. Even worse, people were plugging into our electrical service without permission, causing our camper to repeatedly short circuit. We eventually had to install a lock on our own electrical box because management did nothing to stop it after it was brought to their attention. That's what makes this so frustrating. Management seems incredibly quick to police long-term residents over minor issues, yet has no problem looking the other way while other people take over the campground, block campsites, disturb everyone around them, use utilities they aren't paying for, damage property, and ignore every basic campground rule. The former management understood that people who spend thousands of dollars to stay here deserve a safe, enjoyable, and well-managed campground. Rules were enforced. Problems were addressed. Paying guests mattered. Now it feels like the people causing the problems face no consequences, while the people paying to be here are the ones expected to tolerate them. I also wouldn't recommend this campground for families. The "playground" looks like it hasn't been properly maintained in a very long time and honestly looks like it could earn a child a tetanus shot instead of a fun afternoon. The basketball hoop has been broken, and the laundry area is tucked behind some of the dirtiest bathrooms on the property, surrounded by overgrown grass. None of it reflects the kind of campground this used to be. It's disappointing because this campground had so much potential and used to be a place we genuinely enjoyed returning to every year. Unfortunately, poor management and a complete lack of consistency have changed that. If you are looking for a campground, there are way better options in the surrounding area with better amenities and better people. read more

This place is not a resort it's a disgusting non-cleanly poor excuse for a campground. We were there for four days and the bathrooms were not cleaned once they have dumpsters on the side of the road that stink up the place the pull through site that I was given had a big dip and there was no way for me to pull through. The seasonal sites are very nice because of the people that rent those sites keep them up but the rest of the campground has been let go for years or maybe decades. read more

Staff is friendly, and our visit started out nice. But then we got to our site and it had trash on it and no picnic table. The sewer line had no cap on it. Neighbors on a nearby seasonal site were very loud. Then the neighbors that showed up on the site behind us were loud and (I'm assuming) had a few. I figured that it was Friday night and people just wanted to get their yah yahs out, but it continued the next night at a much higher volume level. When we called the office to complain, we were obviously on speaker phone and whoever was in the background came out with sarcasm, specifically "You want me to come up there and murder them." We left a day early and didn't bother to ask for a refund. I didn't even try the bathroom since the experience I was having wasn't all that great. The playground area has equipment from the 1970s and looked unsafe. A pile of broken glass was on the street by the bathroom/laundry and wasn't cleaned up the entire time we were there. The lids of the dumpster were left open allowing animals access. This place was a huge disappointment. It's too bad really. The property is really large and the campground has a lot of potential, but there is no control over who is entering the property, and little to no oversight of the grounds and it's inhabitants. It became blatantly obvious that no one here cares. I agree with other reviewers that it is NOT A RESORT by any means. I wouldn't stay here again, and I would never refer anyone. read more

This review is specifically for my experience camping during Levitate Music Festival weekend: My group overall had an excellent experience camping at Indianhead for the festival weekend! Coming from downtown Boston, we appreciated the friendly people, starry skies and open areas that we encountered upon arrival. The grounds are quite large, so we only wish that we had been placed nearer to fellow festival-goers for the social aspect of things, but we were still very happy with a huge, quiet group campsite! The pond is great for kids and for the adults who are braver than myself, but I still enjoyed laying on the beach relaxing by the canoes under the shade. My only real criticism might have been about the bathrooms, which could use some TLC. However, I've camped festivals where a gallon jug of water is your bathroom, so this was really a non-issue for me personally. The toilets, sinks and showers all function here. We primarily chose camping so that we could utilize the shuttle services included with purchase. Although I wish the buses came a bit more frequently, they got us to and from safely every time. We even made some of our most fun memories during the commutes (just bring a good attitude with you)! The staff went above and beyond to be kind and helpful during our entire stay. We were offered safe rides back to our sites at night, firewood deliveries, and consistent, but not overbearing, check-ins to make sure we had everything we needed! There were even a great group of staff serving up hot food and fresh fruit every morning and night. Extra special thanks to Tina and Kelly who helped us out often and with a smile! My husband and I booked a site in March. 2 weeks before our arrival I needed emergency surgery. 3 days before we were in the middle of a heat wave, so I called to ensure the wattage would be good enough to run the AC so I could rest when needed. To our dismay, we booked a tent site, not an RV site. It was the weekend of the levitate festival, so the campground was fully booked. I was devastated that do to my medical accommodation requirements I was going to miss the weekend. Jenny from Indianhead Resort worked tirelessly over those 3 days to set up a spot for my husband and 2 of our friends. When she could not find any options she spoke with the owner and ended up allowing all 4 us to stay on her site. I read a review that the team here was not empathetic, but, in my experience is was the complete opposite. I highly recommend Indianhead, it beautiful, clean and quiet. read more

My first time camping here and my last..Friendly employees gets one star.Decent sites earns another but that's where it stops.I can't believe nobody has posted pics of this place or more reviews.If they had I probably would not of gone camping here.Out of three showers in the women's room only one worked and you have to pay a quarter to use.Oh and forget about adjusting the water temp because you cant and that water is beyond hot.Every toilet but one was flushable so just imagine the smell and I'll spare you the pics.No hand soap ,bugs everywhere because they made it so you can't shut the front door.No handle on the inside.The playground is from probably the 70s, those lovely metal slides to burn the kids butts and all.Won't be back because of these things.Put some money into the place and maybe it would be nice. read more

Our first issue was that the website uses stock images to make the campground look appealing, none of those images are actually this campground. We quickly learned the playgrounds are rusty 1970's jungle gyms certainly not up to code. The pond was not as advertised and we would not let our kids swim there. We spent most of our time pulling ticks off ourselves despite using bug spray and not walking off pathways. The bathrooms were covered in dead bugs and cockroaches. When we ran the water at our campsite it was brown and filled with bugs which shows the pipes had not been used in some time, however if there was a reservation they should have run the water. The electricity at our campsite did not work nor did it at the surrounding campsites. We woke up to roaches all over our chairs and tent which was the last straw we packed up early and headed home. We should have known something wasn't right when we arrived and were the only campers in our section on what should have been a busy week. I would not recommend families stay here. It's a shame because it sounds like other people use to love this campground before it changed ownership. Clearly it's being neglected and not well maintained. read more

The location of the campground is it's only positive quality and it is no resort. We camped here Columbus Weekend, group of 2 travel trailers, place was 60% empty, inexpensive for being so close to the Cape. Our experience started with a call from the campground office while we were stuck in traffic driving there, they said the office would be closing at 6ish but they'll leave a map on the door. The campground has no lights, steep hills and narrow dirt roads; we arrived at 7:30pm and somehow managed to back in and down to our sites. Our site was very unlevel but we fixed that the next morning. Very wooded, only some of the sites have gray, ours didn't as stated at booking, oh and the dump site is a sharp turn most were not able to easily access. The whole place just looked old and very run down, peeling paint too. There is nice lake and the campground is minutes from several beaches, state parks and the canal. Those still at the campground were not very friendly, we finally saw an employee (we think) on our last night, they were trying to get rid of ice and firewood. The office and store were only open for a few hours on the Saturday.....it was all very strange. Another guest had a dog off leash which tussled with our friends dog (who was leashed) causing their 13 yr old son to be dragged to the ground. The person collected their dog and just left him on the ground, he injured his elbow. In all we do not recommend this campground until they put a lot of money and work into improving the very basic elements. read more

Got stuck in Maine due to a last minute issue with my transportation. Receptionist was nice but the owner seems like kind of a jerk. She is basically stealing $60 from me. Owners can bend rules to help people who are genuinely asking for help. I understand policy and if it was a more popular campground that was actually full I would understand my campsite being reserved causing them to lose money, but that isn't the case. The receptionist even let slip that they are not fully booked right now when I was trying to find a day to use my one night credit so the owner can't steal any more of my money. Do not stay here and tell all your friends not to stay here! Horrible owner! read more

Cute place. Good price. They definitely need to put a little money into the place. Has potential to be an amazing place. The pond is nice. Can rent a canoe or row boat ( like I said though they need to put money into the place. They had only a couple boats as the rest were broken). The playgrounds were old and out dated. Maybe a pavilion for a couple activities? I'm sure your wondering why I'm giving them 4 stars. The bathrooms are very clean ( cleaner than others we have been too). The sites were very clean. The price is great. The pond and fishing was great. And the staff was so nice and accommodating. I do recommend this place. Just hoping they put some money into it. read more

Do yourself a favor and look at this dump before you book, the pond is nasty - also check out the no refund policy because they have $148 of my money they won't refund even though I'm sure nobody was waiting on line to take my spot. read more

I have not stayed at this campground so I can not in all honesty comment on the facilities or the service. However I can tell you about the appeal. I am a neighbor on the same pond. Please be aware that we have NOT be able to swim in our pond the past two summers because we have had an algae bloom. This campground states on their website: "Known for its carefully maintained Sandy Beach, the swimming area of Savory Pond is great for picnics, sand castles, sun-bathing and of course swimming! To ensure the water quality for swimming, our pond is tested weekly." This is a lie. It was a family place that my children and I loved! So many different things to do on property, and still close to the center of Lincoln. Although some areas could use a little updating, it was the cozyness of the atmosphere that made it enjoyable. I recommend going, with or with out kids, and we are already planning our next trip! read more

I have been camping at Indianhead for many years The last 4 years we have made it an annual gathering here with other family campers reserving 4 or 5 sites together. NOT this year...I made and early reservation in April though I didn't get a confirmation I wasn't worried because it was still early then time went by and numerous phone calls I left messages and emails with no respond. When we got someone the Sunday before Memorial day they had no idea who I was and denied ever receiving anything! !! I didn't mention we drove down in April too and found no one. Sadly the lady told me the spot we reserved for the past 4 years was taken and didn't apologize for the bad customer service for not responding to any messages. When new people take over a family business they really should decide if they really want to so this. We loved it there and now we are going elsewhere. They could of tried to rectify but offer a free night or something but not even apology. They lost 4 families and are on there way to loosing more read more
