Words cannot express how AMAZING of a photographer Sandy is! I reached out to her super last minute, just 3 weeks before a trip to Kauai, about maternity photos. After emailing back and forth, she luckily was able to squeeze me in for a sunrise maternity shoot. And it was magical. First of all, she is so energetic and fun. Photo shoots can become tedious for the person being photographed due to all of the different poses and facial expressions, but Sandy keeps the vibes going strong. Second, she nailed every shot! It was so hard to choose my favorite photos because they were all just so beautiful. Even though the sunrise was a little muted due to cloud coverage, she was able to manipulate the background and give us the natural sunrise of our dreams. Third, her closet of gowns is so dreamy. Our babymoon was scheduled for the week of Thanksgiving and I thought how nice would it be to do our maternity shoot on the beautiful island of Kaua'i so I started my search for a photographer. I found Sandy's website and yelp page and loved her photos so I reached out to her and received a quick response. I was a little concerned about her availability since it was during the week of Thanksgiving but we were able to book a date and started exchanging numerous emails discussing our plans on location and backdrop styles. She also has lots of gorgeous dresses you can borrow which was a lifesaver for me as I was stressing out on what outfit/maternity gowns to take with me to wear. I checked online and those maternity gowns were so expensive especially to be able to have a few outfit changes. When we met with her on the beach she was so warm and welcoming. We went to Kauai in the summer of 2022, coincidentally the summer before our daughter started her senior year of high school. I recently had the pleasure of having my wedding photo and videography done by Sandy Swift. For those who are not fond of long reviews, allow to me state that I am beyond impressed with Sandy's talent and professionalism. My wife and I decided on our wedding date only a month prior. Despite such short notice, Sandy was happy to do the shoot for us. Her communication skills were quickly made evident, and almost immediately she was asking for any special requests we might have, or what schedule we might like to follow for our pictures. She offered numerous ideas and suggestions, including locations for the actual wedding. Her knowledge of the island gave us complete confidence that our wedding day was going to be exactly what we were dreaming of. On the days leading up to the wedding, we met with Sandy multiple times and went over some of the details that would make our pictures perfect. She had many great ideas for creative shots we might enjoy and gave us helpful tips that we never would have thought of. On the day of the wedding, Sandy arrived before the wedding party. She got to work immediately, capturing the day as it progressed. Her friendly and vivacious personality made her presence feel very natural, and as such she was able to capture truly intimate moments without the feeling of being staged. This was a big deal for me, since the groom doesn't usually get to see the bride getting ready! At the ceremony, Sandy's tips and suggestions really came into play. Having already received her primer on how to look good in wedding pictures, we didn't require many cues or instructions to get great shots. We never felt like we were posing or modeling. We were able to enjoy our special day in completely natural intimacy. Just as our ceremony concluded, it began to rain. Normally this is when you would take most of your pictures. Instead, the majority of our wedding party was seeking shelter. Sandy didn't mind at all! As long as we were willing to stick it out, she was there to capture the moment. Since our wedding day got rained out, Sandy schedule a follow up shoot, which we decided would just be myself and the bride. While being photographed, Sandy encouraged us to relax and be ourselves. Laugh, smile, and be silly with each other. Even for someone who doesn't particularly enjoy having their picture taken, it was a fun and enjoyable experience. I couldn't have imagined how beautiful Sandy's pictures would turn out. When I saw them, I was astounded. The colors and detail in her pictures are absolutely stunning! I got married on January 15th 2020 at shipwrecks beach and had a wedding planner to help me since I was planning everything from a distance (I live in California). He had sent me a list of photographers and out of the list I chose Sandy, it looks like she does beautiful work. However, I did not get to experience it because I got a dreaded phone call from my wedding planner THE DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING that Sandy backed out!! The worst possible thing you can do to a bride that planned everything from a distance and had just flown in two days before the big day is cancel on her the day before her wedding! I couldn't believe it. Her reasoning being that she didn't want to be apart of it because we had "too large" of a group. Mind you we had 48 people and 1 beach permit allows for 30 people so my wedding planner got two, one in my name and one in my now husbands name.. so technically we were cleared for 60 people. But 48 was "too large" for her and she didn't want to be apart of it. THE DAY BEFORE MY WEDDING. I had planned photography and videography at least 4-6 months in advance and the fact that she wait until the very last minute to cancel is just unbelievable. I should've known when she also didn't return my call to go over wedding day details. Very untrustworthy and unreliable... it looks like she does great work but think twice and check your options before you book her I would hate for someone to go through the same stress I did the day before my big day. read more
