When you head out to the North Fork, make sure you leave yourself time and head out to the Sang Lee Farms. They have many different varieties of herbs, tomatoes, watermelons, non-GMO corn and squash among other items! We wanted some garlic and had to sort through the multiple varieties to find the best one for what we needed. That's where their amazing staff comes in. The team here is wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable. Besides all the wonderful certified organic fruits and veggies, lot of Asian vegetables (Chinese string beans, kohlrabi, young ginger, bok Choy), they have plenty of plants for your garden. This was a great spot to pick up some nive varieties of tomatoes, parsley, etc,, They also offer refrigerated items and baked goods. They have a great selection of pastas among other items. We drove all the way from massapequa Long Island to sang Lee farms. The website is misleading. The imaging of the vegetables and fruits on there website is miss leading it looks like it's a much larger bigger selection on line. I will say the it's good quality. My wife purchased 8 tomatoes beef steak style and they came out to $45. I think that's observed ridiculous yes it's ok wanting to pay more for organic but not get ripped off. We went to buy a melon, a small melon yellow watermelon $10 per pound. It came out to almost $30. We put it back $30 for a small Mellon. You have plenty of fresh farms out there that are much more reasonable. The quality is just as good or better. J. S. read more

Incredible fresh and organic produce with very knowledgeable staff. They will help you with explaining what each produce is and how you can use it! The location is covered partially by a tent so when it rains you can still stay dry when shopping! The location itself it also beautiful and they have great frozen foods as well including many vegan options. read more

Fresh produce stand with a small amount of plants, meats and prepared foods. I would like to give 5 stars for the selection of items you can't find elsewhere but giving 4 due to high $$! So I come to visit friends in this area and like to stop by here for a great organic selection. I paid $11 for a pound of organic spinach. It was good and fresh, which is how I justified the purchase. In reality, you can get organic spinach much cheaper at the grocery store. I also got some arugula- 6 Oz triple washed for $6. It was very peppery, with great arugula punch, which I do love. I wouldn't pay these prices regularly but it is a good occasional stop. read more

The staff here made my stop for groceries so pleasant. They are all personable and very helpful. I believe I met the owner, and we chatted about a variety of topics for a good while. She recommended some great pre made food they carry. I grabbed a bunch of tomatoes as well. All of the food I purchased there was fresh and perfectly cared for by their staff. Beautiful fresh produce, all organic, and unusual varieties. They had the biggest white peaches (so juicy), artisanal cherry tomatoes (so sweet), young ginger (so mild), and French radishes (so crunchy). In the little store, we picked up some of their home-made kimchee to take home in addition to our produce choices. There's also a bin of "ugly" veggies, which are at discounted prices but maintain the same flavors as the unblemished ones. Bring your own bags and you get to pick from their free produce bin (which changes daily). We saw this place profiled on Victory Garden a couple years ago and it was great to visit finally and appreciate this wonderful farm. read more

My must stop places when I visit. I love all the Asian vegetables, and other items they have. They put together salad or stir fry kits. They also have great sauces they sell in the cold case. If your looking for plants, you can also pick them up here. In the summer they have yoga classes on the farm, such a neat space to do yoga. I don't know what they have during the winter since I've only been there in the summer. Definitely check it out and try their mesclun with with flower petals, it's my favorite. read more

Super cute and loved this farm. I found them online and decided to order a weekly box of veggies. Peconic is a drive from me so I think I'll go to the farm once a month. I plan on going to farmers market on Saturdays to pick up my veggies instead. I like that they give you the option of picking up your veggies at the farm on Fridays or Saturday at that farmer's market in riverhead. I got a ton of fresh veggies some that I have never even cooked with. I am learning to cook with new produce and loving it. The veggies paired well with an organic whole chicken I made. Everything was top notch quality and tasted amazing. I'm so glad I found this place. I also got fresh blueberry muffins which were delicious and made healthy with the good stuff. I also bought an amazing hummus. I can't wait to go back and try more things. read more

I used to love this farm and would always recommend it to others, especially their CSA program. However, this farm seems to be going downhill as they are growing in popularity. Sang Lee was already expensive, and throughout the years they have become more expensive. I have witnessed first-hand their CSA get more pricey, rising in price and not becoming more affordable. Now it's at the point I will not be purchasing a CSA share from them because the cost is rising too high for my budget and there are no customization options available, like other farms give. While I used to get the full share, last year I purchased the partial share because it's only for one other person and me. Weekly, we would get more of what the farm had as surplus and not the needed staples, such as lettuce. While the full, which gives too much, had lettuce almost every time. I didn't like that I had to buy the full, which risks produce going bad because I can't eat it that quick, just to get the staples. Also, both of us also noted that the quality of their produce in these shares had gone down from previous years when they only had one size for their CSA. Luckily the amount of organic farms is growing on Long Island and others offer produce, products, and their CSA at a much more reasonable price, and their produce is just as good. Their farm staff used to be much friendlier, but last season I ran into a lot of rude workers. Young kids that would huddle around the produce, talking to each other about non-work subjects as people were shopping, when they should have been working. I would get dirty looks when I would say excuse me so I could pick what I wanted to buy like I was disturbing them. Last year for the first time I experienced "roll of the dice" while buying watermelon. In years past they had stickers on their watermelon, but last year when I went they had them organized into three sections, one for each color. But there were no stickers on them. I purchased what I thought was one of each, but once I cut them I realized I got all reds. Clearly, the watermelons were not organized correctly and there's no way to double check since there's no sticker. I tried to confirm with a staff member, but they were no help. If I am spending an arm and a leg on a watermelon, I should be able to get the watermelon that I want. Which was such a disappointment because they do have very good watermelon, but for that price, you need the service to match. Especially when I drive over an hour to visit the farm. If you are thinking about purchasing from these guys, I would look around at some of the other local farms first, or at least keep it in the back of your mind. If the price and quality of service makes you a bit uncomfortable, know that there are other options. We have quite a bit of farms here on the island. But, you might have to dig around on the internet to find some of them, as some the farms are small. There are even other options on Sound Avenue, such as Garden of Eve and Ty Llwyd. Also, keep in mind some farmers can not afford the Organic seal. It's expensive, and there are land requirements that take time, but they follow organic practices. Don't discredit those farms, keep them as an option as well. Many farms (local and non-local) have become MORE affordable as their business grew, not more expensive. I've lived and worked on an organic farm as a manager when I lived out of state, and we became more affordable when we grew, not more expensive. read more

Excellent seasonal organic produce. They also have delicious prepared food, baked goods, salad greens/dressings. I really like that they clearly mark what came from elsewhere (usually very little -- eggs, cheese, maybe one or two produce items but I'm not sure) vs what is their own. Also enjoy the educational signs when they have lots of varieties of melon or squash. Great selection of in season products including Asian produce hard to find out east. It's hard to say exactly how expensive it is since I rarely buy *only vegetables* at the grocery store. Anyway, it's good stuff and I'd rather spend that $$$ directly w the farm! read more

A nice space and plenty of parking. I liked being able to see people working in the fields actually harvesting the produce. Makes you feel like it's the real deal organic. Not sure that can justify the high prices though. I think I spent about $40 on three herb plants and a couple (3-4) squash. Not sure how that adds up and I left feeling a little bewildered. One thing I will say is that you're more likely to find exotic produce here that you wouldn't be able to find easily on the North Fork. As an asian-american it's nice to see some asian vegetables available. I got some ginger as well which seemed fresh and is still good even though I've had it a week so far. They had a bunch of vegetables but no fruit at all. I was expecting at least some blueberries but none were available. The one thing I didn't really try were the products they make in house and store in the fridge inside. They seemed to have a couple of sauces and salads, as well a some vegetables that had been pre-prepped. All available for a premium. I would have tried them out but was already worried about my bill. Needless to say if you are on a budget, this is not the best place. But if you are an organic, fresh food die hard then go to Sang Lee. It wasn't for me but it might be your cup of tea. read more

They always have such amazing produce every time I stop by. The outdoor garden section is just wonderful. Beautiful laid out with a huge selection of vegetable plants and herbs. Their store features the freshest produce as well as other specialty foods like their delicious salad dressings. The quality just can't be beat really. The people, like most farm stands on the North Fork, are that neighborhood-type friendly that are always helpful and welcoming. The location and the farm itself are beautiful, definitely one of the more aesthetic ones around here. It's a foodie's (and a nature lover's) paradise. read more

For pumpkin picking, this is the real deal. Only came here once on halloween a few years ago, but their selection was great.

We stopped by while out on the North Fork. They offer lots of organic vegetables and fruit. A knowledgeable and friendly staff was welcoming to us. The owner gave us a tour of the farm and her passion for the the farm, lifestyle, and organic philosophy was so evident. It's definitely worth a visit. read more
