Everything is made in house and super fresh. It's really cool seeing that they use everything from the farm that you could either enjoy or bring home with you. You could even walk around outside on the nicer days and see all the animals out there and enjoy your coffee or your lunch. They even have a little butcher area so you could bring stuff home bunch of refrigerator goods like butter, cream, milk, eggs, even have, honey. It's always a good time coming in here. I can't believe I didn't review one of my favorite spots on the North Fork. I dragged my Dad & Sister up & down the North Fork focusing on Greenport. 8 hands provided all kinds of delicious food goods. I tried the Fresh duck eggs which I used to make cakes. Rillettes which were delicious slightly warmed on crusty baguette. The Liver Pate was smooth & flavorful. I really enjoyed the Country Pate. Came here with my mom after she saw this place featured on Erica Marcus's Instagram Story because she had to try the Greek eggs, which absolutely lived up to the hype. Farm fresh, topped with Greek yogurt, spicy chili sauce and fresh herbs served along perfectly toasted homemade sourdough, that dish is absolutely chef's kiss. I was pretty happy with my egg sandwich as well, packed with pastrami, cheese and grainy mustard. The cafe is located inside the 8 Hands Farm store, where you can also buy goods from their butcher, farm fresh eggs, a variety of homemade pantry wares and frozen meals, along with freshly baked bread. Outside, they have local fruit and vegetable options to choose from as well. After we ate we shopped the store a bit and spent some time outside enjoying a small cup of their frozen custard, which was unlike anything I've ever tasted before. There's outdoor seating that features beautiful views of the farm and gives you a bird's eye view of all the sheep living their best lives out here. From the store we purchased garlic scapes, pickled eggs, a loaf of sourdough, farm fresh eggs and roast beef. Everything we bought was delicious but god, the prices are shocking. Every thing is priced fairly..it's reasonable, considering, all their food is grown on their farm. If you want cheap food with questionable origins, the big chain stores are just waiting for you. Since my first review, I've become a most-of-the-time resident of the north fork, and now visit 8 Hands Farm at least a few times a month. Some highlights: All of the pork sausages are fantastic. The seasonings- both the classic ones like breakfast sausage and the more interesting flavor combinations- are amazing, and they are rich without being greasy. The other pork products are great too. I used to think I didn't really like pork, but maybe what I didn't like was the colorless, flavorless factory-farmed variety. The pork they raise here- I believe they are tamworth pigs?- is a bit leaner and has a complex and sort of nutty flavor that I assume comes from being pastured. So good. The lamb is also wonderful, and when it's available we tend to get extra to freeze. The broccoli rabe is the best- roasted, sautéed, steamed, whatever. I love the duck eggs when they have them- they're a nice change from chicken eggs. And it's hard to resist the custard, especially when the flavors of the day are vanilla and coffee-- swirled together it gives me perfect Vietnamese coffee vibes. read more

During the Summer, I was listening to CBS News featuring 8 hands farm in Long Island and how professionals became farmers (2 adults + 2 kids = 8 hands) with regenerative farming. My friend a few weeks later mentioned that we should go out here since they have organic, grass feed animals. He d didn't watch the program I watched. It took me a while to figure out why this place sounds so familiar until I realized this was the place the news story was about. There was a sign saying closed though we saw 1 couple go in and decided to ask if we can quickly purchase some items. Fortunately we got there a little before they closed up shop to host their first private event. Really friendly staff, very knowledgeable. We quickly browsed through the meats, cheese, and egg selection even t though they told us to take our time. Everything was really used and nothing was wasted because I don't see innards sold very frequently. We were impressed with the meat quality and definitely will go back to purchase their items again. read more

This place is expensive, and I expected to get excellent meat. One item I purchased was a skirt steak. I cooked it for dinner and I was extremely disappointed and feel ripped off because it was as tough as shoe leather. I've had more tender skirt steak from the supermarket. I also purchased lamb rib chops and hope they are better than the Australian lamb available locally. I certainly won't be going back to 8 hands farm. We've visited 8 Hands Farm several times when in the area. They have a beautiful selection of...everything! Their bacon jam is definitely worth trying. I love their selection of handmade soaps and breads, but the real reason I come here is for their bags of locally-grown mushrooms! They come in a bag including (but not limited to) shiitake, lion's mane, crimini, etc. The bag is pricey at $12 but totally worth it! Never had their food truck or prepared meals but I look forward to checking that out in the near future! read more

8 hands is totally a foodie, hipster, farm to table junkie's wet dream. Arrived for a late lunch and darted right to the adorable food truck in the back. I could speak volumes about the weather, the patio, the clouds, the sky, my state of slight inebriation -- but honestly I know you're just interested in the food. Their lamb empanadas were flavorful, lightly spiced with chickpeas hanging out inside but greasy. Pulled chicken sandwich was delightful in all ways, from the buttery brioche bun to the slaw on the side. Now if they had pulled chicken empanadas -- my mind would be blown. Free range chickens wandering the patio were just that. They've learned to beg/scavenge for food just like a family pet. I can't deny that they're kinda cute. I also couldn't deny them some of my empanada either... 8 hands has an immensely beautiful, rustic market inside with fresh produce, coffee bar, artisanal wool products and quality farm fresh butcher items calling your name. Actually -- everything SHOUTED my first middle and last name so I walked out of there spending about $75 on 3.5lbs of (chicken + pork) sausages and a big mason jar of fresh tomato sauce. Phew - pricier than other farm stands. Was my east end grocery haul delicious? Mmmh, yeah... but not sure I'd do it again. Unless it was to try the appealing green sausage. You could say they appeal to a specific type of crowd (Manhattanites, Hamptonites etc). I hear there have been some Ina Garten sightings. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other famous foodies frequenting 8 hands as well. Staff is friendly and welcoming. They're happy to answer any questions about their food. 8 hands is a perfect spot to visit on a leisurely day on the North Fork. read more

This place is so darn amazing we've taken the trip twice from NYC within a month. It's a long drive but everything here is worth it. First of all, the space itself is open and spacious which is great when the weather is nice and especially during covid times. Plenty of room to relax and watch the animals roam free. Second, the owners that run 8 Hands could not be lovelier - they always greet everyone who comes in and are more than willing to answer any questions. It's obvious that they love what they do and it it really shows. Third, every item we've gotten here has been top notch. We've tried a myriad of fresh / packaged foods, including: Bread straight out the oven. Organic chicken eggs. Hummus. Scones. Cookies. Carrot cake. THE BREAKFAST BUN. Even the coffee bar is ridiculously good - they grind beans right when you order. We're just lucky they're far away otherwise I might spend an entire paycheck here! read more

Took a drive on a pre spring day to visit based on raves from a dear friend, we were pleasantly smiling as we entered and left the farm. First time purchases included two dozen eggs, garlic sausage, country pate, and breakfast sausage. There were many items that enticed and we will return! The Food Truck has delicious food, but at during a pandemic, food safety must be employed and the girl at the window was pouring chips from a bag and grabbing fist fulls with her bare hands to put on plates. This is BAD even when NOT in a pandemic. I will say that I contacted management and they were not happy and promised to correct that situation. The cooks were all adhearing topper safety precautions. One of my favorite places here at the Northfork. They have fresh eggs and I have to buy them every time I come. They have great pates, meats, and sausages. They have great breads ( also banana breads) and jams. You can get a good cup of cappuccino while you are shopping. The people there are super friendly. They used to have the food truck in the back but I think it is gone now and they have more selections of food indoors. I am a fan of their bolognese sauce. They also have a great egg salad there. SO glad we stopped by here when we were in the area. Seeing the farm, and exploring the farm store and butcher shop was a great experience and I can't wait to go back and schedule a tour of the farm when the weather gets warmer. They also occasionally host events and classes in addition to their tours. On the weekends (+Fridays) they also have a food truck with fresh meals in addition to the breakfast/lunch items they sell in the store. The store also has an indoor seating area if you're looking to eat your meal inside. With fresh, pesticide-free products ranging from wool, soap, frozen meals, butchered meat, pickled vegetables, homemade hot sauce, and bakery items like banana bread (which we loved!), you need to stop by and check this place out. 8 Hands Farm is a North Fork gem that is an incredible source of local vegetables, meats, and prepared foods in our home. I've worked my way through their offerings and none disappoint but a few of my favorites include the Acabonac Beef Stew, Pork Ramen, and the Empanadas. The butcher is first rate and the house made sausages are a fan favorite in our house. My vegetarian wife has plenty of choices there too, and she's a fan of the responsible way in which the meats are produced. I'm disappointed that the food truck is closed for the season but it's something to which we can look forward! read more

If you are looking for real French bread, you found the right place at 8-Hands Farm. The bread there reminds me of my native France. The loafs are exquisitely cooked and you will salivate just looking at them. They have a nice, crispy crust outside with a lovely golden color. The bread is never too dense , nor too moist and it keeps fresh several days. It's unfortunate that I don't live nearby but whenever I am going to the East End I never fail to buy several loafs. My husband and I love visiting the North Fork regularly, as his parents lived here for many years until they recently moved. We're familiar and very comfortable with knowing what's around and their history, so when something new opens, we check it out right away and this place immediately zoomed to one of my top favorite spots when visiting. Why? Because it's done perfectly right. The husband and wife, who own it - and their 2 school age kids - hence, the "8 Hands" and their small staff know how to not only present their goods in the most warm, welcoming and lovely ways, but all their products are organic, natural, and made on their growing farm. They raise their pigs, sheep, and chickens on the premises (on bucolic, rolling pastures) and butcher their meats in nearby Hudson Valley. We've purchased the bacon and sausages several times, and they're fantastic. Other items in their eclectic store are mostly cleverly and artistically re-purposed items from the animals, such as delicate and exquisite sheep horn jewelry, wool blankets, socks, and yarn made from - you guessed it - their own sheep. They sell clear, golden honey from their own hives, and grow their own vegetables. Everything else they carry are all locally made products, made in small batches with a lot of care. I had to sample some of their food truck fare, which is open as of this review, only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for breakfast and lunch, until 3pm. Even if you're not ready for any of those meals, I suggest you still pop over for a snack anyway. I sampled the buttermilk biscuits with bacon jam and was not disappointed. First time trying the iconic bacon jam, and I'm glad I've waited this long, because it was delightful with the buttery and pillow-y soft biscuits. I shared a photo of the food truck menu, so take a look at the other offerings. The patio has plenty of shaded tables and seats to plop yourself down and just dig in to a fun meal. If you're lucky, one or two of the (literally) free-range hens will come by to say hello and be on their way. Another very charming touch this place embraces you with :) No doubt that this place will only continue to grow and expand with additional thoughtfully procured, if not homemade, items in the bright and airy store. A lovely stop if you're just passing through the area or if you're a local. A local family owns and operates this beautiful mostly sheep farm on the North Fork of Long Island, though they have chickens and pigs as well. They have a store where they sell the meat from their sustainably raised livestock in the form of charcuterie, sausages, and of course whatever cut you could want. They also sell wool accessories, jewelry, soap, and other local sustainably raised goods from local artisans. If you care about where your food and things you buy come from then look no further, the owners care about what they do, where it comes from, and sourcing the best quality goods they can. The food truck is a newer addition which is nothing short of exceptional. The egg sandwich for breakfast on the weekends is amazing, as was the BBQ pork sandwich and fried chicken I had for lunch. A true gem of the North Fork run by a great family. Definitely worth a trip to stop by! read more

So my son,my wife and I stopped here at the food truck for lunch. I ordered the sausage sandwich. My wife got the fried chicken. My son got the hot dog. I'll start by saying my wife thought the fried chicken was really good. However my first bite of the sausage was horrible . It was raw . I took it back and explained that to the girl . She said she would cook it more but told me that it wasn't raw because they poached it. When you cook something like sausage even poaching it , it does not stay mushy and pink on the inside . Even after they recooked it , still mushy but at least looked cooked on the inside. The sausage casing was all soft and gross . If your gonna do sausage , cook it on a grill or at least on the flat top in the truck. Overall we paid 42.00 for this. OVERPRICED!!!!!! read more

8 Hands Farm is one of my favorite places to visit on LI's NoFo. After chatting with owners Tom & Carol, you know immediately how deeply they care about sustainable farming. It is easy to admire their efforts to improve the quality of food available in their community. My favorite things.... The eggs, from heritage breed hens, are the highest quality I've found anywhere. Almost always same-day fresh, you'll find your egg-based based dishes, (esp. made with yolks) are elevated to new heights when using their extra rich eggs. Also, don't miss the pullet eggs when they have them! The lamb, from Icelandic sheep, is gourmet quality. They sell out quickly so it is important to get on the mailing list if you want access to the prime cuts. The pork, from Tamworth pigs, is real pork. Not flavorless food store pork. If one is going to eat meat it feels good knowing that the animals here are raised on pasture, fed high quality food and treated respectfully. Loved the butt roast! Also, the sausages! Chicken - Poulet Rouge and Poulet Noir is a nice change from the standard Cornish. Fantastic. Chicken that tastes like chicken! There is also a farm store in a really cool restored potato barn. Lots of unique wool items - from the sheep - produce from their gardens, artisanal food items, etc. Great spot for unique gifts. Folks loved the wool dryer balls I gave as stocking stuffers this year. As a food lover who is trying to pay closer attention to what I eat, I am thrilled to have access to the high quality food produced here. So happy to support this hard-working young family! I was just telling a colleague about this place and decided it was time to share a review, not just word of mouth. 8 Hands Farm is a treasure. The setting is idyllic, the people are kind, but the food, oh the food, THAT is what brings me back. Who makes Scrapple? These guys, sometimes. The egg sandwich with Scrapple was perhaps the most decedent egg sandwich I have ever had. And lunch? Their staples, like the fried chicken and lamb empanadas, are delicious, but I typically opt for their seasonal items. As a home cook, I cannot get enough of the butcher counter. Those Pâtés! Oh my goodness. As beautiful as they are delicious. You can tell someone has put love into them. I think the butcher counter serves as a symbol for the farm overall. It is pretty AND stocked with delicious items. While not all of the items in the farm stand are edible, they are all beautiful and serve their intended function well. If you are on the North Fork, you owe it to yourself to stop by. OH! I almost forgot. The food truck and butcher counter each have their own Instagram accounts.
