I couldn't believe they charge $4.47 for a coffee, especially old coffee that you pour yourself out of that dispenser machine. I wish I had just said no when they told me the price and walked out the door, but I was so shocked and have never done that before so it didn't occur to me in the moment. Just left this place not even 30 minutes ago and couldn't run to leave a review fast enough about the poor quality of the experience. 18$ for one coffee, and one bacon/egg& cheese bagel sandwich. Microwaveable bacon, super thin, can't taste it in the sandwich, the sandwich wasn't even hot to melt the cheese..& then the coffee I got with the mocha flavoring, has no evidence of coffee and only tastes like chocolate milk. My family got coffee and food as well. They messed up one of the coffees, it was so grossly made it was undrinkable. My sibling poured it out after one sip. Very nice girl working at the front register and busy busy crew in the back. They did a great job at getting everything out quickly even with a long line! This is pretty much the only coffee shop in Sanibel, so they have somewhat of a captive audience. There is a gigantic menu, but they may want to consider a smaller menu and a focus on doing fewer things well. In my opinion, the prices are pretty high and the quality pretty low. I ordered a drip coffee today and there was only one decaf and one (flavored) caffeinated option -- the self-service area was pretty messy. I also ordered the "breakfast burrito," which was frankly one of the worst I've ever had -- a wheat tortilla surrounding unmelted sliced cheese, liquid-type eggs, and lackluster bacon. Some grapes and orange slices on the side, which were nice, I guess. The salsa accompanying the burrito tasted like something from a jar or can -- no heat. If you want a place to work or chat, though, there's quite a bit of seating. read more

Avoid at all cost!!! Proceed with caution...staff are the most welcome group of people...NOT!!! Well, there is at least one friendly face. So, first visit, establishment says free refill with receipt. I was never given a receipt, but received an electronic receipt from bank. Well, not good enough. I was given the option of paying another cup of coffee...sorry, not sorry! Next day, no issue, we were greeted with the friendly face employee. Third day, we were greeted with a grimacing face, and asked if they can help. I said no thanks...I'm just here for a refill and showed the my paper receipt. Both employees studied the receipt as if it was counterfeit, ready to call the authorities. What a horrible experience. Half our dishes were missing main ingredients (grilled chicken salad with no salad, turkey bacon club with no bacon). Insanely overpriced for small portions of mediocre food. This used to be one of the best lunches on the island, but now I've had better food on airplanes. Literally go anywhere else. 4 stars! For a worthy caffeine Sanibel stop-off --- you just have to tell your internal AM caffeine clock to hold off till after the morning rush! Passed by in the AM on our way out to the Sanibel beaches, but there was quite a line and there was no way we were going to waste quality beach time for a measly cup of joe. So we put the caffeine craving on hold and made a return visit at 3pm, which was a crowd-less success! Picked up a much needed cold and refreshing iced coffee and iced cappuccino and grabbed a seat outside to cap off our awesome beach day! So overall, here we go! The ups: - quality coffee - fair pricing (from $3-$6 small to large) - good variety of blends as well as specialty coffee options - nice light bites and treats menu available that are fairly priced - ample indoor and outdoor seating under cover, as well an additional courtyard with larger table seating by the side of the cafe - right off the main Sanibel drag, so easy location - friendly service The downs: - tight entrance and ordering area, which only exacerbates crowding - limited parking - polite dogs rule The "polite dogs welcome" rule is super bizarre! Are you really going to tell a customer that they have to leave if their dog is misbehaving? Or have a customer complain about another customer's dog? Way too much room for interpretation as to what constitutes a polite dog or not. Dog's are like children to many people and the last thing you want to do is create that kind of conflict at your business. It's a recipe for disaster if you ask me. Yikes! Man's best friend or foe and lines aside, their ups far outweighed their downs. Most importantly, their coffee hit the mark, so it is very likely we will be making a Sanibel beach day coffee pit stop here again (we'll just keep it to the PM)! read more

A Sanibel classic. Coffee is barely okay-ish considering how much they hype it (although I do have high standards), but the food is great. Service seems to range between perfunctory and great depending on the time of day and who is serving you. I love the breakfast burrito and the sandwiches, but have also been known to stop by in the afternoon to grab a cheeky scoop or two of their fabulous ice cream. The terrace is great to sit on and watch people go by, but it looks out onto a parking lot so don't go expecting any breathtaking views (unless you're *really* into generic rental cars). read more

Large selection of coffee and sandwiches but all we wanted was espresso and they delivered. It's slightly hidden in a little 3 store strip mall so use gps if you go looking for it. Ok - the food is good. And the drinks are pretty good as well. But the prices are a bit ridiculous. The outside seating doesn't seem to get cleaned very often. And the seating on the side of the building comes with the wafting odor of garbage cans. On the flip side, we did get to watch a colony of ants carry a large bug into their nest - which was inside one of the patio chairs. Sit with care! read more

Here's the deal - overhyped. The coffee wasn't great, long lines, and the server had no idea what was going on. I had an iced coffee, and sausage egg and cheese bagel. Bagel was tiny, and around 6$. This place has steadily declined in quality as prices skyrocket. I'd recommend the coffee bar at Bailey's instead, or frankly, 7-11 (quality same as what you'll get at the Bean.) Today I paid $8.47 for a medium Americano and a blueberry scone. The scone was good. The Americano was okay - although the barista made it in a defective cup and thus is spilled on me and my arm. They roast their own coffee beans, so you think they might be good, but they're really not. There's usually a long wait (counter service), and it often smells like burned toast inside. We regularly vacation in Sanibel and have been coming here for over 10 years. On our previous trips to Sanibel, I had stopped in at this location and felt it was a reasonable spot. Today, I ordered a regular cup of coffee, which was self serve, and was charged $5.37. The woman who handed me a cup for me to serve myself was quite surly and rude. A short while later, my wife went to get a latte from the same place. She paid $8.57 for her latte. Upon her return, she remarked how she was treated rudely by the lady at the register as well as the lady making the coffee. My husband and I rode our bikes here yesterday for a little get away from the kids. I'll say it over and over Sandibel Island I hope you get it together with your restaurants because if you don't no one will be visiting this super cute island in the future. As people that have owned a mom and pop cafe in the past it sure didn't feel warm and inviting. My husband was so irritated that the lady at the counter rushed him over a American cappuccino or the traditional 8oz because she didn't even know her sizing to her own menu. I went here because it was so conveniently located across from the kids' playground. Ample parking. Quite a wait to order and receive drinks. Plenty of seating and lots of parking.
