    Stromboli

After seeing a couple of posts on Instagram, we decided to check out Sansone Market in Garden City Park. While it's not a huge space it is loaded with lots of Italian products. Everything from packages of sweets to canned goods to fresh cheese and meat to pizzas. The back of the store has a long deli counter that has a bunch of made to order sandwiches to choose from along with some premade food. There is even a cheese counter with tons of options. Their freezer section includes items like pizza, ravioli and even bake your own sfogliatelle. Then you come upon the pizza counter. Fresh made 12" pizza is available Wednesday through Sunday. We brought a Marinara pizza home, the crust was lovely and the sauce had a great freshness to it. They also had a bunch of items premade that we couldn't pass up on. The Picante Stromboli was divine. Filled with grilled chicken, broccoli rabe and spicy peppers. It was so delicious. The zucchini pie was sort of a frittata and it was heavenly. They also offer coffee and a small display of baked items like cookies and cannoli. The front of the store has some tables where you can enjoy your purchases if you wish. Sansone Market is a little slice of Italy right on Jericho Turnpike.

Sansone is now offering homemade neapolitan style pizza, and the results are great. I tried a Margherita today and loved how the high-quality ingredients came together for a delicious, well-balanced flavor. I also liked that the crust/dough wasn't too fluffy or chewy and that the balance between that and the sauce and cheese was just right. Often in neapolitan pizza, you get too much bread and not enough of the rest. They can run out of ingredients, so either go early or call ahead.

Delicious pizza. Had a Margherita pie was made while I waited. The dough was soft and delicious. Great flavored sauce. Highly recommend the personal pizza here. Say hi to Leo the pizza maker. All kinds of imported goods from Italy.

My homemade Spaghetti (actually Fusilli Lungi) a La Bottarga using the (possibly mullet, Sardianian style?) Bottarga from Sansone Market.

This place has so many Italian things that are hard to find in the US! They have Bottarga! And Simmenthal! Good meat and cheese selection, and if you order a sandwich be sure to get it in their focaccia which is excellent. Their best sandwich is not often on the menu - Mortadella with mozzarella and a pistachio pesto on fresh focaccia. You'd expect this level of sandwich at All'Antico Vinaio in the city...or Florence, but in Nassau County this is truly a gem. I only hope they bring it back

Very cute local Italian market with helpful staff. While they don't carry everything, they do have authentic products from Italy. They also have a deli/sandwich counter, pizza oven for individual Neapolitan style pizzas, espresso/coffee machine, gelato counter (limited flavors), and more. The atmosphere is inviting and I highly recommend stopping in and treating yourself to grab an individual pizza, hero, coffee, treat, or some high quality Italian groceries. You can even eat inside (there are a few tables) or outdoors on their small patio area. They also have a small parking lot, which is always a plus.

Best ravioli your gonna find out there

I like it I love it I want some more of it . These ravioli I tried for 1st time and are better than raviolis from Brooklyn stores and Arthur Ave in the Bronx. I was pleasantly surprised. Please go there and buy them. And for an added bonus get yourself an espresso from the coffee bar. Best espresso I've had outside of Rome. Place is Boss

This is a cute store. Jam packed with lot of Italian goods. My daughter was very excited by their olive bar. Their food all look delicious. We enjoyed some free samples that were so good. I was absolutely shocked when I got a slice of pizza as a sample. I've never seen someone give a whole slice! It was delicious and we ordered a pizza right then as there. Mortadella mozzarella pistachio pesto on focaccia - saw it in another review totally recommend it! It was delicious. I had no idea was mortadella was before I had it and don't really care for bologna but it was good. My mom and I enjoyed it. We live only a few blocks away but haven't really been. Definitely coming back!

This is a great Italian market. Not only do they have prepared foods. It is also a full-service deli. The pizza is unbelievable. They have a lot of hard to find Italian specialty items.

    Margherita pizza

The store has lots of imported Italian products, most of which I hadn't seen before. Tons of variety of pasta shapes including some gluten free options, italian soft drinks, olive oils, vinegars, cookies etc. I liked the dry goods area where you can scoop the amount of whatever you wanted to buy instead of being forced to purchase a large amount in case you are experimenting and aren't quite ready to commit to a ton of something yet. The parking lot is very tiny but I managed to snag the last spot when I visited. My initial draw was wanting to try their pizza and it did not disappoint, even with @tinypizzakitchen no longer in the house. It was truly delicious and worthy of the 5 stars. I appreciated that they had some tables inside so I could eat it right away

fell in love with italian goods... At first I didn't like cheese but after I tried different types of cheeses at the italian market i fell in love with mozzarella cheese!! delicious!! they have good pastries, the best coffee (espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and regular lavazza coffee), delicious pasta, THE BEST italian pizza & so much more!

    Muffaletta

Awesome little Italian specialty market. Great selection of imported items (DOP San Marzano tomatoes, cheeses, etc). Amazing, giant sized heros. Delicious wood fired pizza. Reasonable prices and very clean. I ordered a Muffaletta ($8.99) and one of their specialty pizzas. I enjoyed the sandwich and it was a good ratio of meat to bread. Their bread has a crusty exterior and fluffy center. The meat was sliced super thin but stacked generously. Previously I've had their giant hero for 2 (which can really feed a small army) and also their Chicken Parm. The Chicken Parm was executed perfectly and the bread remained firm even with all of the sauce and cheese. The pizza was superb. I'm not sure if they make pizza to order as it was sitting in a case and reheated (like slice shops). The neopolitan style pizzas are approximately 12" and enough for 1 person. The pie I ordered had ricotta, pesto and cherry tomato. I loved it but it probably would have been even better if it was freshly made. Will definitely go back. If you're in the area check them out.

Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants I've ever been to and everyone felt the same. Pricey…read morebut worth every penny.

It pains me to have to write this review but I feel this needs to be addressed…read more I'll start by saying the food was excellent. We had the fried calamari, the Pork Chops Mike, the Chicken Mario (x2), the Veal Mario and the Short ribs, Meatball and sausage special. We also has 4 glasses of wine, seltzer and sodas. We were quite satisfied with our meals and I recommend the food...until... My Uncle finished before the rest of us. A waiter immediately reached over and took his plate. I had moved my plate for my Aunt and husband to taste my dish. The waiter immediately asked if I was finished and took my plate to wrap up. I know, I should have stopped this but I was in shock. Three of us were still eating as they took the bread, cheese and red pepper from the table without asking if we still wanted it. A lot of times people use the bread to sop up the rest of the sauce. This is, after all, an Italian restaurant. One at a time they just started clearing the table as we were eating, reaching over us, even getting between the arms while my son was eating. This is RUDE!!! Filomena's is supposed to be a fine dining restaurant. At this point, being seated, ordering drinks, appetizers, drinks and dinner...we were there less than an hour and fifteen minutes! Clearing plates one by one as people finish makes others feel rushed or self conscious, not exactly hospitable. When we were all finished eating, our waiter, Mike, asked if we wanted dessert. We said, yes...he gave us the menu and as we were getting ready to order there was commotion at the table next to us. Seems, the restaurant told them they had to leave the table. These people had just finished eating!!! When we saw the way the other guests were treated and how we were being rushed, we decided to go somewhere else for dessert. Filomena's is RUDE, DISCOURTEOUS and can't follow basic restaurant etiquette. They are not interested in a customer, they rush you and make you feel unwelcome and unwanted. Our bill was already over $300, we were not going to give Filomena any more of our money, only to be rushed out before we could swallow our food. As for the bill, we were charged $29.00 for the fried calamari which is listed on the menu for $17.00. It came with sauce, which they took away, again without asking. This was not complimentary, we paid for this. Filomena's has good food, but honestly Filomena's has no manners. You will NOT be made to feel like family, you truly are just a dollar sign. The ambiance was rushed and shuttle like. Next,next,next...From the moment we sat down, it felt as though the staff's primary goal was to turn the table over as quickly as possible rather than host a hospitable dining experience, clearing the plates felt aggressive, making the evening feel more like a fast-moving conveyor belt than a proper sit-down dinner. While I understand restaurants have table turns to manage, a meal should still feel like a hospitality experience, not a hurried transaction.

The menu wasn't overwhelming, and there were definitely many amazing options to choose from. We ended up getting the grilled octopus and burrata as starters for our table. The burrata I felt was the most underwhelming dish out of all the ones we had ordered as the bread underneath was toasted to the point that we couldn't really cut it or chew it because it was so crispy/stale and I think I would pass on this dish. The grilled octopus though? Phenomenal. I would highly recommend getting it as an appetizer for the table as the flavours of each component was just amazing and the octopus itself was perfectly seasoned and not overcooked. For entrees, we decided to share 2 pastas and a pizza and they were all amazing as well. I believe the pizza we had ordered was a spicy vodka pizza, and the crust was nice and thin and crispy, but still held up which is what I love! One of the pastas we had ordered was a ragu bolognese which was wonderful, but I think the star of the entrees was the Friday pasta special! It was tortellini in a mushroom cream sauce with lobster and other seafood and I loved how the tortellini's flavour didn't overpower the dish at all. For dessert, we ordered the cannoli cheesecake and the baked apple tart , and the apple tart definitely blew us all away! It was nice and hot on the skillet, and the flavour of the apple filling with the flaky pie/tart pastry was so delicious, especially with a bit of the melting ice cream on top! Overall, I had an amazing experience here and would definitely recommend coming here for a date night or even a group dinner!

We arrived at the restaurant shortly before their opening at 11:45am and only had to wait a few minutes. Upon entering, we were seated immediately and Paul, our server, came straight away to describe some lunch specials and take a drink order. We opted for a half dozen oysters and a half dozen clams to start and we devoured them! Fresh and served chilled, they were a positive way to start our meal. For lunch, we both ordered from the lunch specials menu for $16.95. For her it was a wrap that she had to take half home, and for me it was a pasta with bolognese sauce. Both were excellent and while we enjoyed the food, the restaurant quickly began to fill up. Within thirty minutes the tables and booths were mostly full. The old world charm of the Italian restaurant never disappoints and the music flowing throughout playing the old standards sets the mood for a pleasant experience. But what really made tonight's visit even more special was getting a chance to speak briefly with Juan, the manager, on our way out. I've known of Juan for at least 20 plus years, ever since I started coming here, and tonight I learned that he has actually been working at Café Baci for 38 years. That says a lot about both his dedication and this restaurant. I've eaten at restaurants all over the country, especially on both the East Coast and West Coast, as well as in many places throughout Canada. Over the years, I've had the opportunity to meet and interact with quite a few restaurant managers, and I have to say, Juan is truly one of the best I've come across. He is the whole package--compassionate, personable, genuinely caring, and incredibly professional. You can tell that hospitality isn't simply a job to him; he truly cares about his guests and takes pride in creating a great experience. Even our brief conversation left a wonderful impression on me.
