We scheduled appointments for both COVID and flu vaccines because this was one of the few clinics offering COVID shots for 2-year-olds. After arriving, we were told they couldn't administer COVID vaccines and could only do flu shots. What they didn't tell us is that you must be an established patient even for flu shots. Instead of a $20 vaccine covered by insurance, we were charged: $140 for a new patient "establishment" fee (never disclosed in advance) $25 for vaccine administration $20 for the actual vaccine A simple visit that should have taken 10 minutes at CVS turned into a two-hour ordeal and $185 in charges. The staff seemed confused and unprepared. Save yourself the time, frustration, and unexpected costs -- go somewhere else.

I am writing a review of the Goleta Neighborhood Clinic and the operators who take questions or assist the patient with many issues like pharmacies, etc. I go to the Goleta Clinic on Calle Real. My doctor is Dr. Dennis Baker. I cannot say enough to complement this physician I see on Mondays. I have had other physicians at the Goleta Clinic and they have all been good, however, Dr. Baker is by far the "best" Internist I see that I feel "very" comfortable, at ease and trustworthy. He is a patient- friendly physician who always treats me with dignity and respect, and I can discuss any issue I may have at the time I see him, and I respect and trust and feedback he gives me regarding any health question or other subject. He listens and he does not have a "God-complex" that many physicians often exhibit. He is a great asset to the SBNClinics. The operators who take calls for the Clinics I have found excellent, and they have often helped me navigate the pharmacies lack of cooperation, and relay information to the provider when he/she is not present on a given day. Kudos to them! And Kudos to the Medical and Office Staff of the Goleta Clinic. They are always kind and helpful. I always feel welcomed and understood even though on a certain day I may feel grouchy. Thank you to all of you who do such an excellent and much needed service. : )

I learned how to start a campfire with only a few pieces of wood, I learned how to rock climb and I learned how to have fun after leaving the Bay Area which I missed. I also got to experience the amazing natural beauty of Santa Barbara. We hiked around the Ellwood Butterfly Reserve, where we got to see butterflies resting for the winter and the beautiful beaches nearby. We went to Zaca Lake, a really nice lake in the backcountry with amazing trails nearby. We went to the top of the Santa Ynez Mountains and saw the amazing views. Plus, there was so much more! When I moved to Santa Barbara, I thought it was nothing like San Francisco where I lived before this. I thought the hiking, the trails that I had taken for granted were missing here. Then Wilderness Youth Camp took me behind the Santa Ynez Mountains on my first outdoor trip with them, to Red Rock, a swimming hole. It was a hot July day but we cooled down in the water, we chased some fish and learned how to make a campfire properly without gas or matches. The next day, we went to Lizard's mouth, a rocky formation overlooking all of Santa Barbara. We played coyote and fawns, a really fun tag game where we hid and the counselors found us. I stayed hidden the longest, even they said I was out of bounds but I think I was in bounds :) The trips continued to become even more and more fun. My favorite counselors that I remember were Charlie, Jerry, Ruby, Paloma and Sean. It's been years but if any of them are still there, sign up with their groups. I moved from Santa Barbara but I wish I still lived there so I could sign up to be a counselor. To any parent reading this, please sign your children up for this program. I really mean it, I am so happy I participated in it. I learned so many outdoor and leadership skills from this summer camp and made so many friends. I miss it so much!

Before the cleaning, the unit was pretty dusty, and there were stains in the toilet and kitchen that I had personally tried to remove for months. I tried a lot of things but just couldn't get those annoying stains off. A few days before my move-out, I decided to call MasterCare and schedule their cleaning service. The service was excellent. They sent a 2-person cleaning team, and the total cleaning took about 4 hours. They magically cleaned the stains that I couldn't manage to remove after months of effort (seriously, I don't know how they did it lol) They cleaned inside the windows, oven, closets, floors, ceilings, and even areas like behind the refrigerator. Everything was cleaned very thoroughly. After they finished, they asked me to check the unit to make sure everything looked good. When I checked, the floor was clean like a mirror(literally reflective lmao see photo I attached) (no exaggeration). The communication with the cleaning team was also very smooth. They were friendly, professional, and did an excellent job, honestly better than I expected. Given the quality of work they did, I think the price is very reasonable. (Some random and weird thoughts: I'm a CS student doing research in AI and robotics, and watching them clean actually made me think that it would be pretty hard to design a robot or RL algorithm that could match their level of cleaning expertise lol +1 point to the human team) After the cleaning, my property managers inspected the unit and said it looked great, so it seems like I'll be getting my full deposit back, which I'm very happy about. I also had great communication with Linda, the company's manager. She is efficient, responsive, and professional, and the whole communication process was very smooth. I enjoyed communicating with her. So, if you live in Isla Vista or near UCSB and need a move-out cleaning, I personally recommend MasterCare

Taking Covid-19 very seriously, I've been isolating for most of the year and only getting groceries by delivery or from friends willing to pick things up while they shop. A few weeks ago, I started receiving once-weekly deliveries from the Farmstand. Wednesdays during Farmstand hours, I get a bag full of goodies and so far, so great. I love knowing that my seasonal produce is grown locally and organically. All of the items have been fresh and delicious, from a punnet of the sweetest, most sun-kissed yellow cherry tomatoes to heads of lettuce, zucchini and squash, and bunches of rainbow chard (so good sautéed with garlic!) I don't choose what's in my produce bags, but I've been very satisfied with the diverse selections. The assortment is $20 each and seems to be curated differently by the week. There's more info about the Farmstand, Covid-safe shopping, and pickup and delivery on the website. Thanks Farmstand, for keeping me cooking with tasty, newly-harvested local fruits and veggies during the pandemic.

    * A lovely oasis! *…read more I first heard of this place in a documentary that I saw in Vancouver a while back. When I saw the film I knew I wanted to see the farm itself. This farm has been around since 1895, and claims to be the oldest organic farm in Southern California. It clearly is the last bit of farming left in an area that has become incredibly suburban. What an oasis! On their little parcel of land (about 12 acres) the have an incredible variety of fruits and vegetables - at least a hundred or so - including some rather unique heirloom varieties. There is a decent sized produce stand with a beautiful selection of organic fruits and veggies, and some very friendly helpful staff behind the counter to answer any questions about the products or the farm itself. If you wander past the stand onto the actual farm you can take a free self-guided tour that is really nicely set up. We wandered through the fields and found little signs every now and then telling you something interesting about organic produce, what you were looking at, or my favourite which described the difference between free range chickens and other kinds. (Those chickens running around providing natural fertilizer were fun to watch as well - they travel in packs!) This spot really makes for a wonderful afternoon of wandering around and getting back to the earth. And the carrots we got were the sweetest carrots I have had in a long LONG time! Delicious!
