We were turned away (on my child's birthday nonetheless) due to my child's age (3) when their website doesn't state a minimum age policy. In fact their website promotes "fun for ALL ages" (see screenshots from their site). I was left with a very upset toddler on his birthday, who couldn't understand why he couldn't bowl after being promised a bowling session all week. I checked the website before reserving a lane to be sure and nowhere did it indicate that a child has to be at least 4 years to bowl. Please add this to your website and include it anywhere parents might review when considering a reservation or birthday party (since it's also not listed on the party reservation section). I understand that the staff member (Anthony) was just communicating their policy once we checked in. He was very kind about it and helped us submit a refund request, which I hope management considers under these circumstances. Here to see the grandkids bowl... yooza, $50 per hour for 2 adults and 10 year old, the 5 year old didn't bowl. I got a beer at the bar... $6 and it came 1/4 foam... Santa Clarita Lanes is... honestly pretty boring. The atmosphere just isn't there. Every time I've gone, they don't play any music, so the place feels dead and way too quiet for a bowling alley. Bowling is supposed to be fun and energetic, but without music it's like you're just rolling balls in silence. The lanes themselves are fine, but the overall vibe is really lacking. If they added some music or did something to make it more lively, it would be a much better experience. For now, it's just not very exciting. read more

Horrible customer service. The reception lady with glasses (Serenity) and everyone else for that matter hate their job so they make sure you have a bad time as well. We went for a young child's birthday and were told anyone under four wasn't allowed to bowl. And they will not let little kids use the bowling ramps. They claimed they only had one and reserved it for people with disabilities. Ive never been to a bowling ally that didn't let kids use ramps! So basically they care about catering to the old men betting on horses than families. Also within five minutes of coming in we saw a girl puking into a trashcan, so take from that what you will. I've never been compelled to write a bad review before today. My family has been coming to this bowling alley for decades. Today mid-round something happened with our lane and the pin reset button wouldn't work. The front desk was absolutely slammed so after 21 mins of my wife waiting in line to report the pin reset I went up there to try to expedite it. I spoke with Amanda who was shocked it had been so long and she said "they should've moved you to a different lane by now, but it looks like they are working on it back there (pointing behind the pins), we'll be sure to add the missed time to the end of your session" Great, I'm okay with that. We wait another 10 minutes and someone comes by to say the guy in the back is fixing lane 19 but will fix 14 (our lane) in a few minutes.(which he did a few minutes later). We finish out our allotted time then my wife heads to the front desk to ask for our "bonus" time (the time we paid $60 an hour to play that we couldn't play because their lane was down" and the front desk lady says "okay" And reluctantly adds 10 minutes. So I go up there and explain the whole thing and that she owes us another 21 minutes because our lane was down for 31 minutes total and she straight up calls us liars and that it only took 5 minutes and she just pressed pin reset. At this point I'm pissed. I can't believe that she won't just give us the time we paid a fortune for to play. She says the manager is gone until tomorrow, they don't do partial refunds and we we're lying about the lane being down for so long. I'm a business owner and if I saw my employee say and do that she would be gone that night. There are other bowling options in town and Serenity (the desk clerk having a bad day) is pushing your customer straight to their door. I'll update this after I've heard from the manager about how they can make this right with us. We're owed 30 minutes of time and a whole bunch of avoidable stress and anxiety. read more

I don't know why we forget about bowling. We hadn't been in so long, and what drew us back in was to have some recreation out of the heat! I love the staff at Santa Clarita Lanes. They just want you to enjoy yourself. They've done some upgrades too. New tables with swiveling gliding chairs. Hard to describe but really comfy and like a fun ride! Lol yeah, it doesn't take much to thrill me or my grandkids! They've always had Vincenzo's pizza, which is always great at a decent price. We grabbed some (fairly priced) drinks in the lounge and waited for our name to be called. Angela at the front desk was very kind and welcoming, and I hope to see more of her! Terrible customer service. The man behind the counter was rude and unhelpful. Apparently children under the age of 4 are not permitted to bowl at this location. I understand if that is the policy, but did not see that information listed anywhere. After further research I found the information listed on their website under birthday party information. Instead of getting an explanation of what age is required I was only rudely turned away saying "she is not old enough to bowl here" I was super surprised since she's been bowling at different locations before, no problem. I've been going to this bowling alley since I was a kid. Now, I do have a love for it as it gives me a chance to bond with my mom more while we bicker on who's winning or losing our bowling game. However, the ambiance is very outdated and old, maybe besides the arcade they changed but that's about it, it's stuck in the 90's with little to no effort about changing anything. Service was good, food I haven't tried in a while so I can't say. But, the shoes...we came by last week and after two days one of my toes became extremely itchy, I ended up getting a foot fungus (never had this) from the shoes even though I wore socks. I'm a clean person to begin with and unfortunately this is the only place I can assume gave me this. Please take precautions staff on the rental shoes and possibly replacing them after a couple of years or even clean them better. I'm currently not happy with this medical issue and probably won't be back for a while without my own set of bowling shoes after this issue. read more

Ok so I played here for an hour with my husband because we were in town but the pricing here is crazy. The alley itself was clean and nice but 30$ for an hour with no option to play per game in the middle of the week before 3pm is something I am just not used to. I guess they really just don't want people coming here to practice? It's a shame because I have friends that live near the alley and would go more otherwise but I'll just keep going to places in the SFV. The person working smoked 5 cigarettes before coming in to help. Then when we went into the shop he noticed us and said what's up as I was responding that we wanted to purchase a ball he looked away and ignored us that is unacceptable and lost loyal customers to the bowling alley. Very rude crew besides a young man in the pizza area and the janitor. The team seems to get a big thrill out of telling folks that there are no lanes available during "league nights". They will tell folks there is no available lanes while 15+ lanes are dark and empty. They reserve them for the league folks, and 5 of the 7 days are "league". It might as well be a private bowling alley. They'll tell you to get a lane online "next time". When you try to get a lane online, the price is much higher than a walk-in. For 2 bowler, 2 pairs of shoes, it's $40 if you go in. If you try and get that online, they charge almost double at $73. The janitor is a solid guy and very nice but nothing like the rest of the team. Hardly any smiles, lots of attitude from the crew including management, good luck! read more

We were nervous after reading the reviews but it turned out great! My daughter wanted to go bowling with friends for her 16th birthday. We looked around and found Santa Clarita Lanes offered advanced reservations for their glow-in-the-dark cosmic bowl nights. So the idea of having 3 lanes reserved right next to each other on a popular night won out over the poor reviews. It was a blast! They played 80's tunes all night which was a hit with my husband and I as well as the 9 teenagers (cause 80s music is back with the youngins these days!) But it wasn't blasting so loud we couldn't hear each other talk, just the right volume. They had reserved three lanes together for us off to the side, but we noticed there were plenty of lanes open had we not reserved. We are glad we did though because it ensured we would all be right next to each other. Shoe rental was included in the by-the-hour price we paid. We reserved for 1 hr 50 minutes, which was plenty of time, the kids were tired by about the 1 hr 40 minute mark. We ordered way too much pizza from the Vincenzo's inside the bowling alley and several pitchers of soda. Came to less than $100 to feed us all and we brought home plenty of left overs. Was the staff super friendly and cheerful and all smiles? No, not at all times. But no one was ever rude. And they were quick to respond if a lane got stuck and had to be rest (happened two times while we were there). We would totally go back. And will recommend to anyone looking for a fun way to spend time with friends or family. read more

The best bowling experience you could ever have!!! The absolute most down to earth staff you could ever come across! The league bowlers are very nice too and parking is very easy. I have never had a bad experience in all my years of coming here and that is thanks to all the staff that do their absolute best to make sure I come in with a smile and leave with a smile and when I don't have a smile when I come in that I am able to turn my frown upside down when I leave! Also shout out to the food! They got the best food ever! You will not leave the alley hungry. All the other bowling alley food I've ever had cannot complete with SC Lanes food! Front desk staff was very nice I took my ball to get new holes drilled. I dropped it off a day in advance got measurements taken and was told it would be ready the next day by Rick who runs the side shop inside. I got there I spoke to him. He was eating and so he said to give him 10 minutes which I felt was understandable given he was eating. To my surprise nearly an hour later he finally was ready for me to go into the shop to get my ball. Which again to my surprise he hadn't even drilled the holes yet. I eventually did receive my ball but won't be returning to have any future work done there. One of the gentlemen at the front desk when I spoke to him about it said that they get a lot of complaints about the same thing I went through so be warned. Terrible experience. They recently started a reserve function requiring only on their website. I get that it was on a saturday, but they charged $143 for one lane 1 hour 50mins (not even 2 hours, so petty). I had asked if there was any way to get a refund as our party of 4 ended up being a party of 2 due to a car accident in the rain. We were met with, "We can change the reserve time."It is the same price whether it's 1 person or 5 people." 1 or 5? For $143?? Are you kidding? They are lucky there are no other bowling alleys nearby other than Valencia Lanes, but I prefer Valencia Lanes 100x over with this kind of overpriced bad practice. read more

Bowling in a Friday Night Sanctioned league is torture. Parties for kids, teens and adults are out of control. They book 10-12 people per two lanes at a time. Most of the time numerous individuals are on the approach at the same time and standing out by the foul line screaming and yelling. Tonight kids were tackling each other and crossing the foul lines to slide around on the lanes. There has been kids attempting to walk down the lane to try to retrieve their ball. They continue to throw multiple balls down the same lane at the same time. Food and drink are being carried out onto the approach all the way to the foul line. These issues are a huge liability risk. The employees respond to complaints with "we can't do anything about it". I beg to differ. Initiate a quick orientation before any patron or party group goes out onto the lanes about how to have a good time but still respect everyone else and the equipment. Explain bowling etiquette and rules. This will ensure good times for all. Several times recently when we have finished our 3 games people are sent down for open bowling before we even have a chance to change our shoes and gather our personal equipment and belongings. The lanes are blocked for league play and just because a team finishes early doesn't mean that the general public should begin playing on lanes in between league teams. This is distracting to say the least and we pay a small fortune to participate in a Nationally Sanctioned League. All of these issues have arisen post new owner. For years these kind of problems didn't exist. I have been a huge supporter of Santa Clarita Lanes but am becoming disheartened about the lack of supports for sanctioned league bowlers. I'm disappointed in the recent poor maintenance of the lanes. There is a lot of equipment failure and the chairs and tables are in need of repairs. All in all, I would not recommend Santa Clarita Lanes. This makes me very sad. read more
