Very disappointed with their work installing the dash cam. They ran the front dash cam wires clearly in the direct view of the passenger. I sent the car back in and had them route it along the rear view mirror unit. Duh! They then brought the car back out and I realized I needed to do a more thorough review of their work. I got in the back of the Yukon and could see a large 1/2 hand size grease/dirt stain on the header. I then also noticed grease/dirt on the driver side A pillar just above the air bag area. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I then went back into the store and told them at the desk I wasn't happy. They came out looked at it and agreed. They took it back into the shop and 15 minutes later it came back out cleaned.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For the quality of the work I could have taken it over to Best Buy and had them do it. And for a lot less than the $200+ they charged me. Big mistake thinking they would do a more 'professional' job. read more

I feel like Santa Fe Auto has a good reputation, and I know they've been doing it a long time because I used them for some subwoofer help all the way back in high school. All in all, I had an OK if not very businesslike, transactional, overall effective experience. We need (lol, it would be nice*) to have a remote start on our main family car with winter coming. I'm guilty of research spirals, where I read & read about something, but I determined not to do that this time, and just to go with a good company and get this done right. I reached out on their website and got an auto-response but nothing else.I do wish I had some more details about what I was selecting, a little comparison guide to review, etc. as I had to do it over the phone, decide quickly without any real info, and put a deposit of $100 down then. It was pricier than I was expecting as well. We set an appointment without any chit chat, I went to work nearby in Downtown OP, they handed me the keys and that was pretty much it. I thought one of the techs would go out with me and show the commands to start it and confirm it works but they didn't. They did tell me that it's got a lifetime warranty which is good. I think this place is good at what they do, as in they are "technically sound." My honest critique is that a little better customer service would go a long way, but as it is it felt more like dealing with a big box store in an errand to check off the list. read more

Owner of an Infiniti. I purchased a $500+ auto start (much higher than the average cost but I wanted the best for my wife). Her Infiniti is a 2008 so the dealership was unable to install a factory auto start for that year. Santa Fe was recommended to us, and I heard about them on the radio, so I figured it was the place to go. I ordered the automatic start system. Once installed, my wife found the dash around her push start button was severely cracked. I took pics and emailed the business. I got a phone call, stating the crack was already there and the installer documented it but failed to bring it to the attention of their boss (yea right). They offered to replace that part of the dash (how generous). They also claimed Infiniti's have an issue with cracks in the dash.... I've had the car for 8 years, no issues. It took a month for the part to get in, but they finally installed it. They called and told me they installed the new part, but it also cracked upon installation (again blaming Infiniti for being cheap). We've had this car since 2008 and nothing about it has been cheap). They told us to look and see if we could live with the minor crack. At this point, I was tired of dealing with it, so I was already prepared to accept the crack if it was small. We arrived near closing time when it was dark and were shown a hairline crack on the bottom side of the dash, under the steering wheel. After the time and stress of it all, we accepted it and decided to cut our losses. The next day, my wife noticed the more expensive and prevalent part of the dash had pry marks/holes punched into it. It was clear to any reasonable person that the dash they were replacing got pry'd out with a tool, causing permanent damage to the soft part of the dash. To make matters worse, the climate control function of the heat and air was no longer working. Upon hitting the climate control, the system went to full blast and was stuck there. Fast forward- The Infiniti dealer apologized for our experience and fixed the climate control sensor ($200), and estimated the dash to be $2600 to fix IF we chose to address it. We are still debating confronting the shop, but we all know how that stuff goes now days. They were so bad at their own trade that I don't even want to deal with them, but I can't seem to live this down, so I hope this review helps others. DON'T GO THERE. read more

Poor customer service. Their specialty is car electronics, so they have only one job. I was told it would take a week to order a dash cam. Odd that a car electronics specialty shop doesn't even have dash cams in inventory - one of the most common car electronics. A month later, no word from them at all. Disappointed I was given a JVC KW-M75BT video head unit for my 2006 Honda Odyssey. After finding a video on how to install it at https://youtu.be/TStB2_Rw8o8, I thought that the part to get it connected to the steering control buttons and the backup camera looked a little challenging. So, after doing some research, I thought I'd take it to the pros. The video indicates that the installation should take 30 minutes or so. I got charged for 2 hours. AND, they only connected the front speakers, didn't install the backup camera, and didn't hook up the steering controls at all. All of the reasons I went to them, they didn't do! When I called, I was told I could bring it back to get the camera hooked up, but it would be another $200! No thanks. read more

Custom Dash Cam Installation: Had Santa Fe Auto Sound hard-wire install a BlackVue DR900S-2CH Dual Lens Dash Cam for the front and back, along with the Magic Pro Battery (allows dash cam to record while parking and prevents run-off) on our Audi SUV. I appreciated that they actually took appointments and had a pretty good estimate as to how much it would cost and the time it would take to complete the job. I was able to book an appointment for 1 week later. The installation took a little bit longer than expected, but their estimate was nearly spot on to the actual cost and fair. The Magic Pro Battery pack was set on 12V and infinity mode and they were able to hide the battery for me. The installation went very smoothly. I used a BlendMount Dashcam Aluminum Rearview Mirror Mount (so that I wouldn't have to place any adhesive on the front window- would go to blendmount website to enter your specific car to get the proper mount). Santa Fe Auto Sound was able to hide the wire through and through and even along the rear trunk (see image), so that wiring would not be exposed externally. They were very accommodating and able to answer any questions. I would probably leave the car next time and come back to pick it up, but they did have complimentary wifi there. I'll be back to install the Blackvue on my other cars. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to hardwire dash cameras on their cars. They've installed the Blackvue camera on other Audis as well (eg RS models, etc). If anyone has any questions, I am more than willing to answer any. Thanks again, Santa Fe Auto. read more

Took my car in for a remote start (told 4-5 hour install); my car was there the entire day Friday (7.5 hours) and didn't get finished. I was told that they needed to reprogram the doors and add some relays to convince the remote start program that the doors are closed. They finished one door Friday so 3 were left. I made an appointment to finish today (Tuesday) at 9am. I was told it would take about 3 hours. I called at 2:30 (5.5 hours!) and guess what?! Still not finished! I will modify this post if things change but be aware! Update: It took the better part of the 3rd day to get finished. Turns out my car is difficult (like the mrs.). System works great. Biggest complaint overall is the lack of updates when the install went over the estimated schedule. read more

Gotta love the local places. So, I finally got around to having a new stereo installed in my car. Ever since I bought my lil Honda Civic off my brother-in-law a couple months back, I've made due with no music, and a gaping hole in the dashboard (courtesy of a Wichita-area audio thief). A couple weeks ago, I was gifted a new car stereo. Yesterday, I finally had a few hours to spare, and decided to get it installed. I'd passed by Santa Fe Auto Sound a million times over the years, and decided to give them a try. The guys at the shop were able to pencil me in without an appointment. When I mentioned the fact that the factory stereo had been stolen, the technician walked out to the car with me to make sure no wires had been damaged or ripped out before he gave me an estimate. In all, they installed the new stereo in an hour, and charged me $75 for the job (less than what I'd been quoted at a few other places in town, including dealerships and big box stores). They ended up covering the cost of a couple little wires and antenna extenders, which was nice. After payment, I went out to my car to fire up the new stereo, only to find that they'd programmed my radio presets for me. Totally unnecessary, but a really nice touch. Sure, I wouldn't have programmed KUDL on my stereo, but hey! It's the thought that counts, right? Although I only had a stereo installed, I did spend a little while inside the store. The store is nicely appointed, a good deal of equipment and product is on display, and the staff is friendly and not at all pretentious. Highly recommended! read more

I was hovering between four and five stars for Santa Fe Auto Sound and then... We tried to use the seat belts. "Huh?" you say? We selected new speakers for my hubby's Honda Civic because the factory ones were just horrific. It was my Christmas gift to my adorable hubby. The store has a well-curated but not huge selection of speakers and other car audio equipment in varying price ranges/quality. We selected speakers and arranged for the installation. That part went well. Fast forward to a few days ago when we drove into Lawrence to take my mother out for lunch. We get to her house in rural Lawrence to pick her up and everyone gets in the car with my hubby taking the back seat. When he reached over to put on his seatbelt, it would only pull out a few inches. Odd. Then he tried the seatbelt on the other side of the backseat. Same thing. Seems like a major safety issue to me. We figured out relatively quickly that Santa Fe Auto Sound had messed something up during the rear speaker installation, so we took the car back and scheduled another appointment. To their credit, they didn't balk about it or claim that it wasn't their responsibility, but it was a major inconvenience to have to be a one-car family on a weekday so that the car could get fixed during their first open slot. Given that we had just spent several hundred dollars at their store and we had previously mentioned a desire to buy a new stereo for my Acura, I would have expected them to be a bit more apologetic about this experience. I'm glad they fixed what they messed up, but there should be a QC process in place so that they don't cause potential safety issues for their customers and when they mess up, they should say, "We messed up and we're very sorry." Santa Fe Auto Sound is literally only about three blocks from our house, so we'd love to give them our business in the future, but I'm still a bit grumpy about what happened. I'm sure that will subside in time and we'll likely give them another chance, but I do hope that they make some changes to ensure this doesn't happen to other customers. read more

Go somewhere else! I went to Santa Fe on 12/21/10 to have a remote starter in a 2002 Grand Am. When I initially talked to them on the phone, I was told it would "take a couple of hours." Since this was a Christmas present, I decided to wait rather than drop off the car and ruin the surprise. When I arrived, I was told it would be 4 hours. So I waited and waited and waited. 7 hours after I arrived, I finally got to leave - of course without the starter. They never could get the starter to function, blaming it on the tech support of the manufacturer. Well, I'm not the manufacturer's customer, I was Santa Fe's customer, so don't pass the buck. As I waited I never had anyone come and tell me what the status was on the car, I always had to go and ask. On two occasions, I went to the desk and asked an individual, who I later found out was the manager and he did not even acknowledge my presence or question. He simply walked into the back and then another individual would come out to speak to me, Great customer service??? As it approached their closing time, I was told they were still having difficulties and I had now had the option of them removing the starter and they would "try to figure out the problem." I was told it would take 20 minutes to do so, actually took 40 minutes. Now, I realize difficulties arise in installations from time to time and I would not be giving them a negative review if the following had happened: 1) Keep the customer informed and advise them on the issue. 2) Acknowledge the customer when they ask you a question. A "let me get the person helping you." is much better than just walking into the backroom. 3) Instead of worrying about getting your equipment back, worry about the customer. I should have been given the option of leaving with the starter in the car and coming back. At worst, I might not have returned with a piece of equipment which at wholesale is probably worth at most $100. Compare that possible loss to the loss of business that will occur from people reading this review. 4) Don't just stammer an apology when a customer expresses their dissatisfaction. Ask "What can I do to make this right?" Make the customer feel valued. read more

These guys are VERY friendly. Honestly I came in and they treated me with respect,.. to a point. That point was when it came to pricing. They gave me a quote that was $1200 more expensive than 2 other car audio places. They charge top dollar not only for the products but for their services. I believe they must have a good owner because they stress great service. I like to support local businesses but folks, buy what you want online and go to another shop to have it installed. I saved $1,200 on my parts and install vs what they were going to charge. You are better off going ANYWHERE else for your install, even BestBuy. Great attitude and customer service guys, but you will always lose to someone else when you charge MSRP in the world of internet. Horrible customer service and discriminatory towards customers of color. Went in to get some lights installed talked to a guy outside who had just pulled a car out the garage just finishing a similar job to what I was looking for. I talked to the guy who was kool about what I was looking for and if they did that type of work. The guy said sure they do it all the time and most notably on the type of car I was driving. After looking at the work he just completed again the same work I needed we talked pricing and went inside. He handed me off to some guy who was a total jerk and after explaining to him what I wanted to do he quickly said "No we dont do that type of work" so with the most puzzled look on my face after just seeing a completed job I said to him well you just finished a job similar to what I was trying to do.....Again he stated "we dont do that type of work"......This guy was really smug and I could just tell by his responses and the fact that I just seen a finished product that he was not intrested in my business....It cool though becasue I ended up taking my money and my nice ass ride to another business who actually said that I was better off for not getting any work done there becasue they do subpair work.......Word to the wise if you are thinking about taking your car here for any work save yourself the trouble and hassle and take it somewhere that serves all customers of all races and will actually do good work to your car and stand by the work they do!!!!!!! read more

I've had more then one stereo installed from other shops around the city. There is a lot of crap and a lot of crappier installation jobs out there. Santa Fe Auto Sound is NOT the cheapest, HOWEVER if you want an open minded knowledgeable honest person, High quality equipment, excellent installation, a fair price and a person that will stand behind it then go see Scott which equals peace of mind $$ saved in my book (once you've paid others to tear up your wheels up with their crap its too late for you). You may need to force him to upsell you. I had to keep reminding him that I was vulnerable from my theft and the lousy work and cheap equipment of others and needed to be upsold. He was trying to make it easy on me, I was looking to upgrade. Thank you Scott and thank you for fixing the LOUSY premium priced install job I got from you know who. Not so fast ya''ll. Maybe over 10 years ago but their best installers are no longer there. This place is a rip off. I wanted to give them my business with a full install and purchasing equipment. I stated that I was on a budget and needed a amp, sub, speakers, and a processor with an EQ. The problem started with the processor. Recommended was the JL Cleansweep OEM CL-441dsp. I was told that I could not use my volume control on the steering wheel with this device and needed a separate volume knob installed somewhere. This was out of the question. There was no recommendation for an alternate solution. Alpine had a model that has a EQ built in. When the quote was written up no type of discount was offered even though I mentioned it reached a bit over my limit. Even with being dissatisfied with a volume knob, not one mention of reducing the price. To sum it up, I found the exact same components on eBay for far less. I saved over 460.00. As far as the outrageous install price of $960.00, I got it professionally installed for just a little over $400.00. Word to the wise, shop around and don't give these people a chance. Ian was outstanding on the installation process!. Other installation people I conferred with could not answer my questions and would only reply, "We will have to see when we get into installing".
