Horrible and rude service. The actual welding was done decently and the welder himself seemed like a professional, however the overall experience and customer "service" was bad enough that it overshadowed this. Perhaps 3-4 stars for the welding quality itself, but a hard 0 for the overall experience. I would say that the end product I received averages out to 2 stars.
I went in for a simple welding job on a set of end tables. When I arrived to pick the pieces up the next day, I found them sitting outside in a heavy rainstorm with freshly welded and unfinished parts exposed to the rain. The old woman who works there casually mentioned that I should "paint them before they rust." When I politely told her that I was not happy that they'd been left out in the rain, she got immediately defensive and told me that it was my fault for not arriving sooner, despite me having clearly told her on the phone that morning when I the afternoon I would be coming by to pick them up. When I asked her why she had not moved them out of the rain, she coldly and dismissively replied that she "didn't know it was going to rain." It had been raining for more than 7 hours at that point! She also informed me that they "would rust anyway from the moisture in the air." Really? In a day? In New Mexico? Enough that leaving them in the rain would make no difference? On top of that she was consistently nasty and rude and kept insinuating that it was somehow my fault that they had been left out in the rain.
Of course they rusted immediately and I had to spend a bunch of time sanding the rust off, which would have been completely and easily preventable. If you want to work with people who actually care about you or your project, I would recommend going somewhere else. Santa Fe Steel does not deserve your money and, despite the welding itself being solid, there's no guarantee that you won't receive abused and/or rusted items from them, coupled with an unreasonably nasty attitude. Save your energy and whatever you're trying to work on by taking you business anywhere other than here. read more
