This recently remodeled home is bright, well-appointed, and comfortably furnished. The gas fire was an ideal touch for the chilly winter evenings. The kitchen is especially well equipped which I appreciated given the length of my stay. The owners and the property manager were gracious and responsive. In fact, if you need another to fill a bedroom inbox me and I'm there (lol, but seriously). This place is perfect. From the moment you arrive, it's impossible to not be transported to a place of peace, tranquility and joy. Multiple decks to see the stunning views. A pool, hot tub, and sauna. A yoga room!!! Great if you already have a practice and can use facilities on your own, but we also found it was very reasonable to just hire a teacher from Santa Fe to come up for a private lesson. Hiking right outside your door. Every bedroom (plus the cabin!) is set up perfectly to make you feel like a VERY ZEN queen/king. Watch the sunrise and the sunset over the mountains, while you swing on the front swings. Eat dinner under the stars or in the formal dining room. The choices are endless at Rass Mandal. The experience of this house unlocked possibilities, I'm not even kidding! It is a ways up the mountain road-- so not for people who really wan ot be in the center of twon. But we really had no trouble getting to town when we wanted to go out and explore. Mostly though you'll want to stay in, trust me! :) Also Richard is the nicest. MICE - we found mice had been a problem for a while based on droppings. 2. We had to walk through the 3rd bedroom to get to the 4th bedroom. (Adobe has since updated their website to reflect this.) 3. A water pipe burst in the 4th bedroom bath. We had no water for 24 hours. We mopped up water for nearly an hour before we could find the turn off valve. 4. Wi-Fi was unreliable. 5. Dish TV did not work. 6. Air flow in 4th bedroom was very poor. Most of these issues were not the fault of Adobe Destinations. They did, however, give us a 10% refund, but all of us felt this was insufficient. Note - we submitted a review to Adobe Destinations, but needless to say, they have not posted it on their website. We enjoyed Santa Fe. But, I would not ever recommend this property to anyone.

Contacted Adobe Destinations and spoke with Marilyn. Explained the situation -- that we needed place for two to three months, maybe longer. And that we had two cars. And pets. Marilyn was wonderful. While on the phone, we went to the website. She "showed" us several properties online that would meet our needs. She gave additional info about each property. We decided on a charming casita. The application and payment process was painless. Communication prior to our arrival was good. Check-in went smoothly. And the casita was indeed charming. And efficient. Many amenities like nightlights, a well-stocked kitchen, plenty of towels and linens, a washer/dryer, cable, internet, room for two cars in the driveway, and a great "welcome" binder that told us all we needed to know. We only had one issue. One evening, the power went out on one wall, affecting the television and internet. I couldn't find a circuit breaker box in the house, and it was dark outside. And it was a Friday after hours. I called the number. The answering service took my information. Within an hour, Patrick called. He walked me through finding the circuit breaker box. I used a flashlight, as the box was around the back of the house. And fixed the problem in a minute. Elaine in the office was an angel in many ways. We couldn't be more pleased with the service and the property. I highly recommend Adobe Destinations.

The laundry had a great gallery of Route 66 images, the K9 fence was actually tall enough for our big pup, and the staff were friendly as you always hope. The game room was a nice bonus, but DVD lending libraries at the store and game room help if you need quieter camping back in your rig. We loved the free pinball! The social area outside the store was nice and shady, and the playground was adorable. We got to see a bluebird, and the park had some bird watching pics up front. BYO grown up drinks (and as always, don't act like a rookie), or enjoy the cold ones available at the store. Cute local souvenirs and camping supplies were plentiful, and that pizza oven kept going during our stay. It looks like they're busy adding more pull through sites, so we might get lucky enough for a longer stay next time. No pool, but you'll be busy with Santa Fe anyway. Las Vegas highway was a perfect connector to both the city and Pecos National Historic Park. Happy kid, happy pup, and happy us here at this KoA.

Walk past the lodge and look for sign with trail map. We thought we'd try the waterfall trail but no signage made us stop after crossing the stream several times and ending at a memorial cross. Someone said you need to scramble with large rock/cliff to the left and keep going. The lodge was closed when we went in mid September. Lovely cool day for a 9:00 am hike.

The sites are level and have a nice big table and a pole with two hooks for hanging trash or food so critters can't reach it. The way the loop is developed gives each campsite lots of privacy and you're never too far from a restroom or trash can. The people in the park were really friendly and the camp fees were totally reasonable. It's also not too far from town to run in to spend time in at the beautiful plaza area and browse for adorable nick knacks for souvenirs and gifts. It's also convenient for groceries or gas. There is an Albertsons and Whole Foods right off the highway as soon as you get to town.
