Great place for Argentinian steaks. Located in the Clapham neighborhood in London. My friend and I each ordered the 8oz sirloin. YUM! Also, another MUST GET item are the fries. Nice & crispy with garlic. See pictures & descriptions below (sorry for the bad quality for some of the pictures. My camera battery died mid-meal): 1) Churrasco a la parrilla con guarnición - 8oz grilled Argentine Sirloin steak with garnish (I ask for medium rare) - MUST GET - http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/rQENamiSDknaUFfzHfW6Cw?select=hq4aEtwrb1EhRjCurl5jiQ - Steaks grilling in front window - http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/rQENamiSDknaUFfzHfW6Cw?select=zyiooxplbF06-E4t9kV40g 2) Carne & Pollo Empanadas - http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/rQENamiSDknaUFfzHfW6Cw?select=_0CsKvVWT1jG94U2YVlSTA 3) Hongos a la parrilla con pesto y guarnición - two grilled flat mushrooms with pesto and garnish - http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/rQENamiSDknaUFfzHfW6Cw?select=aI2jwblJvMo1A676pQvrgA 4) Fries - MUST GET - http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz_photos/rQENamiSDknaUFfzHfW6Cw?select=TPQZ5KxBHbycQQw-Ehlo2Q 5) Desserts - both desserts are a bit too sweet for my tastes. This place is very busy.

Like many, I was attracted to visiting Santa Maria del Sur following its coverage on Gordon Ramsey's Channel 4 programme and I was certainly not disappointed. I can quite confidently say that Santa Maria del Sur served the best steak I have ever tasted, without exception. The waiting staff were warm, friendly and welcoming and the service extremely efficient. Although during busy periods you are allocated a two hour "sitting" period, at no point did we feel rushed or under pressure to "drink up and go". The restaurant itself is quaint and intimate - ideal for first dates, anniversaries or small birthday celebrations. There is an extensive menu of genuine, rustic Argentinian cuisine; don't be deterred by the limited on-line menu - this is just a snapshot of what's available. The menu is also accompanied by decent wine selection. The only drawback is the restaurant's location. Not tourist-friendly (but maybe that is a bonus for more savvy visitors and locals?) A good 15 minute walk from Clapham Common Tube Station. Either take a taxi or rely on your mobile phone's GPS to find it! Don't miss this little gem.

Both the staff there were very humble and accommodating, working non stop to dish up delicious plates of Columbian food at portions big enough to feed two and all at affordable prices. At the front of the counter were a lovely selection of starters containing many unusual and delicious looking Colombian street foods. I say unusual but that is because I have not seen many of these delicacies in London before. Chorizo on cornbread This was okay. I think the cornbread let it down a bit being quite dry and bland but the chorizo itself made it worthwhile. Made from grounded meat and spices the texture was very moist and creamy, tasting much like processed meat. But I liked it and the heat built up after each bite making it quite spicy. Beef empanadas Very different to a lot of the Spanish versions I've had as the filling was more fluffy due to the addition of mash potato in it too instead of being very meaty. It was very flavourful, comforting, with the beef giving it the oomph of flavour it needed. The soft texture was a lovely contrast to the crispy cornmeal fried batter too which sadly started to become slightly hard and chewy from being left out too long and then reheated. But for the cheap prices they're charging, I am not complaining. Papas Rellanas (stuffed potatoes) These were definitely the highlight of our meal. Fried potato balls made of mash potatoes stuffed with rice, beef and onions. It starts off being crispy before you break the thin fried outer shell and reach into the lovely generous soft fluffy filling. It was seasoned perfectly with mild spices, adding complexity and depth to the ground beef and sweet onions. Comfort food at its best Pollo a la plancha A delicious plate of wholesome food. For someone who doesn't like chicken breast I was so surprised at how much I loved this dish. It was obvious that the chicken was marinated for long hours to give out the lovely mild savoury spices against its natural sweet flavours with a lovely hint of smokiness as a result of being beautifully grilled. It was succulent and tender too. It came with a lovely side of braised red beans, cooked till fluffy and soft and seasoned perfectly. Salad helped reduce the stodginess as well and adding some crunch to the dish and a lovely juicy plantain for some sweetness. All accompanied with fluffy rice and a runny fried egg. Bandeja Paisa A gigantic platter of food consisting of fried pork belly, two grilled beef, grilled chorizo, a fried egg, fried bread, stewed pinto beans, plantain, a slice of avocado and salad. It was delicious and every part of it. The pork belly was delicious. Being fried you have a lovely contrast of the crispy outside and the soft tender inside with good fatty boys melting in your mouth. Beef were beautifully marinated, smoky and although required a bit of teeth work they were very enjoyable to bite through its rich flavours. Chorizo were lovely with its sweet spices and meaty texture. Everything else was great too, either all fresh or cooked perfectly. For £12 it was a bargain especially when it fed the both of us and we even had some leftover to takeaway. I think I found a hidden gem as I have been trying to find more information on them on the internet but there is minimal information about them. Yet the place was packed the whole time we we were there and staff were ever so accommodating. It's not a place for a first date though as the market it is in (Holloway Nags Head) can be a a bit rough sometimes and the restaurant itself is quite run down with poor paint job. However for a bit of change to the usual and for authentic Colombian food and cheap budget eats, I highly recommend this place and I will be back soon.

The service is friendly, and feels genuine, and the ambiance is almost as if you were in Colombia! There's usually some Spanish football on the TV which adds to the authenticity of the restaurant. It's always full of Colombians, and other spanish speakers, which could be a little daunting for some, but it's evidence that they do a good job with the food! The empanadas taste great, and of course come with the great spicy salsa verde, super tasty. I ALWAYS go for the Bandeja Paisa, and I'm satisfied every time! The meat is good, although it can be a little over cooked at times, but not often. The rice, arepa, egg, beans and plantain are always cooked perfectly (I think they've had a lot of practice)!! The drinks choices are great, you can even order a Refajo (recommended) which is kinda like beer with Irn-Bru. Tastes great with all the meat on a Bandeja Paisa! They also have some great juices which you can have with milk or water. I usually get the Maracuja with water... refreshing! To say the prices for food are reasonable is a real understatement. £12 for Bandeja Paisa of this quality is awesome! If you're ever in Shepherds Bush, check this place out. Be warned, they close unusually early on Sundays, around 7pm.

I had an absolutely outstanding meal here tonight…read more Latino America is a recent addition to the restaurant scene here in Hove. It is in fact the first Argentinian restaurant in East Sussex, something I only found out today! We only happened to go here because we tried to go to Makara next door but it was fully booked, so we thought we might as well give Latino America a go. I'd never had Argentinian food before, so I wasn't really sure what to expect, but upon looking at the menu there is a lot of choice, especially when it comes to meat! I noticed there was a good selection of vegetarian food on offer too, not your bog standard 'mushrooms with mushrooms' that veggies usually get fobbed off with! We had a starter of Chipa Correntino - cheese rolls made with cassava flour with a Stilton sauce. Oh my! They were absolutely delicious - not too heavy for a starter and the Stilton sauce was delicate and not too over powering. Perfect for sharing. For the main I was going to go for a burger or a steak roll, but Scott liked the look of the Argentine meat experience to share, which was a selection of prime Argentine steak cuts: Cuadril-(Rump), Bife de chorizo (Sirloin), Ojo de bife (Rib Eye) and Lomo (fillet) with a side of rice. Our waiter recommended that we ordered the trio of sauces (Chimchurri, Provenzal and Criolla) to accompany the steak at a further £5. I'm going to be honest here and say my eyes LIT UP when the food came over. Even more so when I finally tucked in! Our waiter recommended that we eat the fillet steak first as it was the highest quality steak and best eaten hot. I am partial to a fillet steak every now and again but this one was melt in the mouth. I didn't it to end! All of the steaks were fantastic and the chimchurri sauce complemented the steaks perfectly. I absolutely would not hesitate to eat here again - and seeing as I live a 2 minute walk away I will 100% be back!

Honestly, I thought it would just sell fajitas and tacos and stuff. I was well up for some of that. So we decided to go in. Then as we entered, the waiters and waitresses looked beautiful and the subtlety of the lighting suggested, "This is going to cost you". In my head I sighed. I was right, it did end up costing me. But... it was well worth the money. Sophie and I shared an Argentine Meat Platter, with rice and some a selection of sauces (Chimchurri, Provenzal and Criolla). The meat platter consists of four different types of steak, rump, rib eye, sirloin and fillet. I couldn't tell you what was in the sauces, but I can tell you that every single one complimented the meat. One was meaty, one was salsa-ry and the other was oily. We ate everything. I have never eaten better steak. I want to go back. I now have two new favorite places to eat that are only a few doors away from eachother.
