I had a very disappointing experience with Ford Santa Monica. About a year after leasing my Ford Bronco from this dealership, I decided to sell the vehicle back to them to get out of my lease early. I even had to pay a significant amount of money out of pocket to terminate the lease early, so I expected the process to be handled promptly and professionally. Instead, it has now been over a month and a half, and the dealership still has not sent the payoff check to Ford Credit. As a result, my account has been reported late, I've already been hit with a late payment, and another payment is now due. All because the dealership has failed to complete the transaction. To make matters worse, I'm now receiving toll road violations for dates after I turned the vehicle over to the dealership. These charges are clearly not mine, yet I'm the one spending my time disputing them. I've been in constant contact with the Used Car Sales General Manager, Igor Pesin, who handled buying the vehicle back. Every time I ask for an update, I'm told it's "out of his hands" and that the billing department is responsible. Unfortunately, no one in the billing department answers the phone or returns voicemails. For the last three weeks, I've been calling the dealership almost every other day. Each time, I get transferred from one person to another, eventually sent to voicemail, and no one ever calls me back. I've also sent multiple emails to the dealership that have gone unanswered. At this point, it feels like everyone is avoiding the issue instead of resolving it. When I called Ford Credit, they confirmed they are still waiting for the dealership to submit the payoff. Rather than taking ownership of the situation or providing a solution, I was simply told to explain to Ford Credit and the toll agencies that I no longer own the vehicle. This entire experience has been incredibly frustrating and stressful. I paid money to end my lease early, yet I've been left dealing with late payments that could affect my credit, toll violations for a car I no longer own, and complete silence from the people who are supposed to resolve the issue. I expected much better customer service and accountability from Ford Santa Monica. I would strongly recommend thinking twice before doing business here. read more

Recently leased a Mustang Mach E at Santa Monica ford and overall had a good experience. Kim was my sales rep and she was very kind, attentive, and personable the whole time. I had done most of my research prior to coming and had been searching for months so I really didn't have a ton of questions for her. Also shoutout to the other sales rep Hunter who chatted with us while we waited to keep things interesting. When it came to negotiating my lease deal that was done with the sales manager. He was willing to hear me out and negotiate which I appreciated. A couple times we got to some sticking points but we worked through them in a respectable manner and ultimately he met me where I could make a deal happen. Also - he did not try and hit me with any add ons or fees. And they had no hidden markups or dealer add ons for their rates etc... My only nitpick is that it took nearly 4 hours from me walking in and driving off. Almost 2.5 hours of that was after we made the deal. They also have a pickup and delivery option which I haven't tried yet. It's nice and clean with beach city vibes. I bought a car here last year and it took them 7 months to get the title for the car so I could get it registered properly. I tried to follow up when the 90 days temp registration was approaching, but I was just ignored and they didn't follow up on their end. I had to open a dmv investigation to even get them to do anything. They would not communicate with me about it, so I just stressed about it for months until they finally sent it in the mail with no apology or communication. I was looking to buy a used car and almost bought one from Santa Monica Ford that I thankfully discovered was not safe before purchasing the car. It was a 2015 Ford Escape which I test drove and liked but out of caution said I wanted an independent inspection done which is always a good precaution to take if considering buying any used car. When I got the inspection report I paid for it showed that everything to do with the brakes needed replacing. - pads, rotors, shocks, struts and sway bar - which would cost closes to $4000. I was shocked by this and in reviewing the car's Carfax I noted that in 11 years and 119,000 miles nothing on the brakes was ever replaced. Several times in said Carfax it said the brakes were checked but no other service was ever noted. For a car.of its age and mileage that is not logical or possible. I also checked the dealer's service list for the inspection their service dept conducted before they listed it for sale and again as was listed in the Carfax, the Tech who apparently did the safety inspection of the brakes did not list any service needed or being done to the brakes. This would would give me, the prospective buyer of thr car, the impression that the brakes were good/safe, but clearly, according to the aforementioned independent inspection paid for by me, they were not good nor safe. As brakes are a basic and necessary part of a car, the listing on the Santa Monica Ford inventory inspection as, "#1 - Mr. Safety: Safety Includes Break Inspection", is misleading. Again, based on the Carfax for the 2015 Ford Escape advertised for sale by Santa Monica Ford and the independent inspection previously mentioned, the car need major brake work done for the car to be safe and sold to the public. In conclusion, based on this experience I would not recommend nor consider buying a car from Santa Monics Ford in the future. Thank you. read more

I recently bought my car from this dealership, and a couple of weeks later I noticed a bunch of cement spots stuck on the front of my car. A car wash quoted me $300 to remove them, so I brought my car back here to see if they could help or at least tell me what it would cost. As soon as I parked, I spoke with Ricky. He immediately offered to try using a pressure washer to see if the spots would come off. To my surprise, it worked! Was told it would take 1 - 3 days. when asked about getting a 'loner' car, was told SM Ford doesn't offer loaners, they are a 'small' Ford Dealership and don't have the flexibility. Was told to call a larger dearlership and maybe they have loaners. however, SM Ford can get me a good price at Enterprise Rent a Car. WHAT ????? My experience at Santa Monica Ford, was upfront and easy. It's hard to believe, but I actually enjoyed my car buying experience and who EVER says that!? I communicated that I was in no rush and could wait until what I wanted was available. Sam, my salesperson took all of the information and said he would check in when he could make it happen. He checked in a month later with the pricing I wanted and the model; however, the truck was black and while it was a solid option, I didn't want black. He checked in a month after that with everything I wanted *and most importantly* the price I wanted. I got a black mustang mach e here back in April. From what I could tell, car looked "new" and in great condition, since it was in fact a new car. Eve though the sales reps and everyone in the financial dept made this a great experience, in giving a 1 star to their maintenance/car detailers for ruining my new car. 1. When the car was given to me, they left glue residue all over the top moonroof and never bothered to take it off properly. I had to bring it back all the way from east Hollywood the next day so they can acid wash it. 2. We noticed the car had scratch marks all over. And not minima normal ones, but it looked used because they had scratched it while attempting to clean it. They offered free detailing but I had to leave it overnight. Big mistake. They didn't have a new buffer so couldn't even do it and said they would pick up the car from my house so I wouldn't bother coming a THIRD time, and drop it off. When they finally did the work, it looked all fixed at the moment... it wasn't until later I saw all the issues. 3. Somebody at their location had likely taken my car for a joyride because when I saw the mileage , it has almost 1000 new miles on it. Keep in mind, I only had my car for a few days before they took it and work was 2 mile drive. Sadly I didn't notice soon enough or I would've called. Second, it was pointed out to me that ALL OVER the front hood and sides you could see burn marks from a buffer and residual paint everywhere. Suffice it to say, after they "worked" on it, the paint is so damaged under the sun it looks like a completely used car. HORRIBLE experience. I would pay to get the paint fixed, as I was quoted a few different prices from 300-800, but this is a lease and wouldn't make sense. Ford in Santa Monica should offer to pay for an actual detailing from another location that can fix their mistakes. read more

None of these items were disclosed to me upon purchasing. After reviewing my purchase contract I found $4000 in extra charges. When I called them to discuss this. I was told that they understood that I was not happy and agreed to refund me for half of the costs. 4 months later I still have not been issued a refund. I have called and left messages at least a dozen times with no call back. This is not the way to do business. First with hiding extra fees, then lying about issuing a refund, and finally avoiding me all together. Shame on this dealership. Do not trust them. Santa Monica Ford is the most unethical dealer I have ever worked with. They used all the shady tactics in the book. I called from out of state to express interest in a car, and talked to Chris Gonzalez. He sent me a price breakdown that added $2000 worth of dealer accessories (paint protection and GPS tracking), saying it was "in the fine print", which it wasn't. I eventually talked him down to $250 for the paint protection and no GPS tracking, and figured it wasn't worth fighting over the rest. During that negotiation he tried to pressure me to buy the car within the hour or else somebody else might take it. After I repeatedly told him I was paying cash, he pressured me to fill out a credit application "to start the process", which I refused. I had to ask several times for him to send the final price breakdown and purchase order, which he kept screwing up, putting somebody else's name and address on the form with the wrong state's tax. I told him I would book a flight once the total was confirmed, and then after everything was confirmed and he knew I was flying out, he again tried to pressure me by refusing to hold the car until I arrived unless I financed the car, which I again refused. I flew out and met Chris at the dealership and we looked at the car together. This is when I discovered a massive dent in the car that did not show up well in the pictures on the listing, which looked like a 4-year-old had repaired it with a crayon. The Carfax report had showed 0 accidents, and no mention had been made of this damage. Compare the only photo in the listing showing that section of the car with the photo I took. Remember also that he demanded to sell me a paint protection add-on, on a car with significant body damage. I got a mechanical inspection and a repair estimate from a highly rated body shop; the car needed $1000 in mechanical repair and $4000 in body work, to fix the bumper and quarter panel and blend the paint. While waiting for the estimate, Chris tried to pressure me multiple times to go ahead and fill out the paperwork and purchase the vehicle. He said that his guy estimated the body work was $1000, and he could get a dealer price of $500 that I couldn't take advantage of because I'm out of state. Neither of these estimates would cover a legitimate repair job. I offered a reduced price based on the estimates, Chris told me that the price was non-negotiable (apparently even given his own $1000 estimate), and I left without buying the car. He then insulted the body shop that gave me a legitimate estimate, saying one bumper could not possibly cost that much, conveniently forgetting the quarter panel and blending. He claimed the body shop was misleading me and taking advantage of my situation, which is exactly what he had done himself. All in all, I wasted 2 flights, 2 Lyfts, an inspection, a day off of work, and a significant amount of time due to the flagrant dishonesty of Santa Monica Ford. Any one of the red flags on display here should have caused me to walk away well before I did, so my mistake. read more

Santa Monica Ford Kept My Raptor for a Month, Ruined It, and Tried to Charge Me for Their Mistakes If you value your time, money, and vehicle, STAY FAR AWAY from Santa Monica Ford. They completely wrecked my 2021 F-150 Raptor during a transmission repair, held it for nearly a month, and then had the audacity to try and charge me for the damage they caused. Here's the nightmare they put me through: I took my truck in for a transmission repair, which required them to remove the skid plate. After keeping my truck for almost a month, they finally gave it back--but something was clearly wrong. I took it back so they could diagnose the new noise that started after their repair, and they had the nerve to try and charge me a $150 diagnostic fee--for an issue they created! At that point, I had enough and took my truck to another Ford service center, where I found out: * Santa Monica Ford stripped the bolts when reinstalling parts. * They damaged the undercarriage during the repair. * The flywheel might be compromised due to their careless work. * They tried to charge me nearly $500 for a skid plate replacement--when they were the ones who removed it in the first place! And to top it all off, their negligence may have caused enough damage that I might need a full engine replacement. Awful Customer Service on Top of Incompetent Repairs I pay for an extended warranty, which includes a rental car, yet Santa Monica Ford never even offered me one--even though they held my truck hostage for almost a month. Instead, I was left without a vehicle while they completely butchered the repair. Final Verdict: Santa Monica Ford is a disaster. * They do not know what they're doing. * They will charge you for their own screw-ups. * They don't take accountability. Brought my car to Leslie in the service department. It was a simple issue that couldn't have been a very profitable fix and It didn't matter to them. I was still treated so well by Leslie and the entire service staff. They did everything possible to make it easy for me. I do not recommend This car dealer if you plan on buying a used car. First off my salesman , Eduardo, needed so much help that his supervisor Simon had to take over. Then that's when things got even worse. It took me one whole month to receive the truck I bought then there was another issue with the radiator I drove it off the lot and it was overheating! I took it back again. How can they claim their used vehicles go under a 100 point plus inspection and them not be able to detect that the truck was overheating! I'm glad that I had basic knowledge to know that was happening while I was driving the truck home because that could have turned into a dangerous situation. So I had to leave the truck again. At this point I was ready to cancel the contract and look else where. That's when Simon the used car supervisor pleased with me asking to give them one more chance to make things right. I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt. He promised they would pay 1 month and a half of the car payments since I didn't have the truck during that time. I should have never believed him. It took me 4 weeks after the day I finally got the truck to get the paper contract sent to me. Then that's when things got even worse. When the bank starting calling for the payments that weren't received. I called Simon he said well we took the payments off the end of the loan. So instead of 72 payments you will pay 71. That was a lie he sent me a pdf copy of the contract and since I had adobe plus downloaded it notified me that there was a newer version of the paperwork after I received the contract via email. So when I opened the newer version it stated that I was responsible for 71 payments and 1 final payment of the same monthly payment amount on the loan closing date. Nothing was covered by them whatsoever so ever. My dad is 83 years old and these guys took advantage of that and did him dirty! They are crooks and liars! To top it off when the truck was dropped off to us Eduardo tells me the truck is running good now I drove it hard all the way here to make sure that nothing else was wrong with it!!!! Are you kidding me! Please be aware of these guys that just want a sale. I called the manager and he didn't do anything. He just had Simon send me the contract that was later altered anyway so that was no real help at all! And by the way the truck is finally running ok but the ac doesn't work right and the gas door thing doesn't stay shut and it finally flew off somewhere when driving so now there's no gas door thing anymore ! And the side driver door mirror was cracked. How do you sell a truck for over $20,000 dollars in this condition???? read more
