I came in with my lease and two additional documents proving my residency to apply for a residential parking. Despite clearly seeing my lease with my name and address, the employee never asked what type of permit I wanted and automatically processed a $70 visitor permit. How do you look at a lease and issue a visitor pass without asking a single clarifying question? When I realized the mistake and returned, I noticed he asked the next customer what type of permit she needed which confirms that question should have been asked in the first place. When I asked why I wasn't asked, I received a dismissive "sorry." While speaking to me through the glass, he appeared to be muttering something under his breath. When I asked what he said, he replied "nothing." As soon as I left, he immediately began talking with his coworker, even though she had a customer in front of her. The entire interaction felt dismissive and unprofessional. A simple question and basic communication would have avoided wasted time, extra parking costs, and unnecessary frustration. For a government office serving the public, professionalism, communication, and accountability should not be optional. read more

Free parking for 90 minutes! The structure is nestled in a busy area. We walked to pier and strolled The Promenade. Location is prime. We came here during Covid (October 2020) as we were paying for our ticket the janitorial services were busy cleaning the area to make it sanitized as possible with all the foot traffic. There were a lot of parking spaces when we got there. Parking was not "tight" so each parking space is pretty comfortable for sedans and SUVs. Would park here again. read more

Wow, I'm amazed at all the glowing reviews for a parking structure...there is nothing I hate more than going inside a parking structure...and I mean NOTHING!!! I'm almost afraid to post my 2 star review, because I quite frankly don't want to stick out like a sore thumb amongst all the 5 star ones. I almost feel like I'll get hate mail for not praising this said parking structure. But with that said 2 stars it is. First off, what makes this parking structure awful (or any parking structure for that matter) are the PEOPLE. Yes YOU! The one who puts on her make up while navigating through, the one texting on his stupid cell phone like it can't wait a bloody second, the 90 year old lady who shouldn't even be behind the wheel that drives slower than a snail crawling...and yet it's just my luck that every single time I'm in this Structure #8 I'm stuck behind the make up junkie, the "my text can't wait" idiot or the (God bless her soul) old lady who can't differentiate her left from her right. Every.single.time. Let's also not forget the numerous times you enter the structure and it clear as day states there are 150+ spots yet some genius in a vehicle in front of me will stop and wait for a family of 10 to put away all their belongings, buckle up all their 6 kids into a car seat, forget something in their trunk and get back out searching for it...and 30 minutes later this idiot in a vehicle in front of me will continue to sit and wait. THERE ARE OVER 150 SPOTS duffus, why must you hold up a line of cars behind you for this one spot! Drive!!!! Believe you me you will find another one! Thank you Yelp for letting me vent. So yes, I cannot understand for the life of me how this parking structure (or any parking structure in LA for that matter) can have anything more than 2 stars. I wouldn't normally write a review of a parking garage but wow this one is impressive! When you pull in you grab a ticket. Each floor tells you how many spaces are available. There are sensors on each spot so as soon as someone pulls in/out the spaces available spot updates. The garage was also really clean! Best part was the price. Machine wouldn't read my ticket. Said it was already in use? I press the button for help and waited and waited and waited. No answer. Then it said lost ticket pay $20. How when I inserted the ticket so it was clearly not lost. Found a number on the ticket after I paid to call and tell them something is wrong with the machine. It quickly escalated when the guy who answered told me that nothing is wrong with the machine. I asked how did he know without checking. He also accused me of not knowing how to work the machine and that there was nothing he could do and wasn't going to stay on the phone and argue with me. Definitely someone who shouldn't be in customer service. Park at your own risk of paying $20 because of a machine glitch and horrible service. read more

Parking Structure 8 is probably the most centrally located parking structure in Santa Monica. It is attached to the Santa Monica Mall (enter the mall on the 2nd floor) and walking distance from the Santa Monica Pier (walk towards McDonald's) and also Third Street Promenade. It does have 90 minutes free parking which is awesome if you are only going to be a short time but keep in mind that the movies and restaurants and stores do not validate parking so if you can do dinner and a movie in 90 minutes, more power to you. Also, in exchange for the convenient location, there are a lot of people in this lot, and so, leaving the parking structure can be a long wait. read more

90 minutes free then $1.25 after (not sure how long for each $1.25 as we left at about 100 minutes. No attendant so I needed to use my CC to get out. Parking spots are narrow but it is close to the promenade. If you take the stairs in the back right hand corner, you exit into the alley behind the structure. Watch yourself if you are by yourself. Remember, you are in Santa Monica and there is a large homeless population but also a large number of people. Use the directions that Yelp gives you, watch your speed and keep your lights on. People will walk directly in front of you while you are looking for a spot. Hope you can find a spot quickly and don't wind up with any door dings! Good luck! read more

Ok I can't believe I'm writing a review for a PARKING DECK but apparently it's already been done many times for santa monica's structure 8 so I'm clearly not alone in wanting to express my satisfaction and share this gem with others. One thing you learn quick while in LA is that wherever your little heart desires to go, you WILL pay to park. Each time we went out to eat or see something, we paid for valet or a deck or a lot. Every. Single. Time. So imagine my surprise when we decided to go to Santa Monica Pier (a very touristy area) and we find structure 8 has free parking for 90 min. FREE. I couldn't believe it! I was even more shocked to find out that it was right beside the shopping area and only like a block away from the pier! The icing on the top was that structure 8 is also very modern (as modern as a parking deck could get, that is..) in that there were digital signs saying how many empty spaces are on each floor, and lights that show you where those spots are (red/green). I have never reviewed a place I wish I could give zero stars to. Last night we parked here and it took TWO AND A HALF HOURS to get out of the parking garage. This is not an exaggeration. It took twenty minutes for us to move one car. I went back to previous reviews to make sure this is not a one time occurrence - and it's not. People have been stuck in the garage for hours trying to get out before. Eventually we got out of the car (it was back in another parking spot, as we hadn't moved) and walked down only to find dozens of other people at the bottom as well, pleading for the attendees to open the gate and allow a second exit lane because they were stuck there for so long. The people working there acted like nothing was wrong. When we called the phone number listed for the garage, the lady was curt and said we would not get any type of refund or compensation. I asked her what they would do if there was an emergency and she simply responded, "well it's not". She was incredibly rude and said she was going to be happy to put me on hold. The only reason it took us only two and a half hours to get out was because we were running out of gas and started to worry about getting stalled- so we reversed into the wrong direction lane and managed to get from the 9th to the 3rd floor. Then an employee stopped us and said we had to get back in line. Who knows how long it would have been otherwise. Still can't believe this actually happened! Just an absolutely awful, stressful, helpless experience. The worst customer service I have experienced to memory. read more

Convenient, cheap, big, centrally located. I came here when I was on vacation and not only enjoyed the service but also the amount of space the garage had. There were about 7 floors with roof access. Doesn't seem to ever get super full except holidays or event days. About 3 blocks to the pier, not far at all! Roof has a great view as well! First time using the structure a couple of days ago, Black Friday 2017. Arrived at noon and parking was a breeze. Fairly clean, nice modern touch with red/green lights to let you know if a parking spot is taken/vacant. Not all lights worked as intended. Some showed green when a spot was actually taken. Staircases: there are two (that I know of) and you could end up being on the wrong level for your car. Just use the same staircase you used after parking. One of the staircases smelled like piss *ew!*. If you're exiting on Colorado Ave and want to reach the 10 or PCH, take the left lane near the exit (in the structure). The right lane eventually goes to Ocean Ave. The mall employs security and will even monitor the parking structure. I parked at the top and a few people were hanging around when I was leaving. A security guard passed by but didn't talk with them. read more

This may be silly but I'm going to review my first parking garage. Driving anywhere near LA is a stressful time and parking can be just as stressful, but this garage is wonderful. The first ninety minutes are free and it's only a dollar per hour after that. The garage connects to the outdoor mall and on the third floor of this mall there is a hidden, clean, wonderful bathroom that never seems to have lines. This garage has loads of spots and the open ones are indicated by green lights over the them. This should be implemented everywhere because it makes finding a spot significantly easier. This garage is about a 10 minute or less walk to the pier and beach, which is where we were headed. My general tip is to come before 11 and leave before 4; if you break these rules you may have to sit in a lot of traffic. read more

I never thought I'd be reviewing a parking garage, but seriously this is the coolest garage I've ever been to! First off, for its prime location in Santa Monica near shopping and the Pier, you'd think it would be at least $5 for an hour or two. Nope, this garage offers free parking for the first 90 minutes then $1 for the first 1 hour after that, and $1.50 for every 30 minutes after that! This a huge garage so there are a ton of spots. Another pro is that they clearly outline the number of spots available and on which floor, so you won't go scouring a floor for a spot that doesn't exist. Also, there are lights up top that indicate if a spot is open (green for open, red for taken). This way you can zoom on by until you find a spot! If you forget where you parked, never fear! Just look it up using your license plate number on the machine on the first floor. So just make sure you've at least got your license plate memorized or at least handy. Can they make a garage like this in Ohio?? read more

Great parking structure. Clean and well-lit. Pros: The price = First 90 minutes free and then $1/hour for the first hour. After 2.5 hours total, it becomes $1.50 for every 30 minutes after. The location = So close to the pier and to everything out down there The availability = There is always parking here. The technology = It tells you how many spots there are and and where to find them. There are also lights that tell you exactly where the open spots are. Cons: It can be really crowded getting in and out of the place. DEFINITELY WORTH IT. read more

It's funny that I'm even reviewing a parking structure, but Santa Monica is doing this so right. With so little available street side parking and very little available space for lots, they are just awesome to provide a free service for the first 90 minutes. I don't mind the extra little cost to use their service after the first 90 minutes, but they've even made that if you can't afford it you can easily cheat the system. Just exit and reenter the parking structure every 90 minutes and you won't be charged a dime. Not to mention they have these parking structures scattered about Santa Monica, but this one is right next to the Santa Monica Pier and 3rd street promenade. They're both within a block or two walking distance so that is just awesome. read more

well it is a parking structure so how do you rate it. I see that most folks on here have the some info but most of it is out of date. Pricing after 6pm is now $5.00 flat rate and before 6 it is 2 hours free with $1.00/half hour thereafter. Makes for an interesting deal. There is also direct access to the mall on several floors from the parking structure. That is exceedingly helpful. However there are very limited pay machines and they dont take bills over $20.00. The best approach for this south western corner of the 3rd street promenade area is to exit the ten at 5th street and make a quick left at the first light, cross over 4th street and its on the right side. read more

I know that it is strange to review a parking garage but I have to say that the Santa Monica Parking Structure was an incredible find while visiting Los Angeles. We found the structure while looking on Yelp and we were so excited to see that the first 90 minutes were free. This parking structure is fairly close to the pier and we were able to walk over, enjoy the pier for a while, and walk back without spending much money. In the end I would tell everyonr to park here. and if we visit Los Angeles again this will definitely be where we park our car while walking around. read more

Today I had one of the worst experiences with any kind of customer service ever, went there to park my car and I was treated with an absolute lack of manners an inappropriate attitude, the guy at the valet was incredibly rude and weird so when I asked him to address to me with good manners he put his hand inside of my car grabbed the ticket and said: get out of MY garage... None of the cars would move so it was pretty chaotic in this parking structure. I decided to park here because it was pretty cheap compared to other places. Went on Memorial Day. The pier was insanely packed. Traffic was bad. I read that the wait is long leaving this parking structure. I'm not surprised since Santa Monica pier and 3rd St Promenade are tourist traps. I timed getting to the car at 4:49pm. We got out of there in 5 minutes. 90 minutes free parking and $1.25 each additional hour is good. The only downside is leaving the structure can be difficult since there is no signals to help you get out into 4th st. read more
