My family used the recreation room for a family gathering. The staff was friendly, the facility is always clean and has plenty of space. It has a kitchen area, refrigerator, couches and a television. When we moved in, the prior management had done a great job of making the complex a nice place to live. But during the tenure of the new management company, the problems are never ending. The hot water heater broke months ago and has not been replaced, and during high usage times, like the morning, residents are forced to take cold showers. Because the water heater can't handle the capacity, it breaks down completely every few weeks, leaving the building with no hot water at all for days at a time. Washing machines are left broken for months on end, forcing hundreds of residents to fight for time with one to two machines on site. Fire alarm system malfunctions often, creating an annoying beeping noise that can be heard through the entire first floor all day and night. The entry way has water damage, but instead of fixing the ceiling, they have taped a plastic sheet over the hole and damage that covers the entire entry way. Parking is awful with the hospital staff taking up all the street parking and neighbors blocking parking spots with their garbage cans that are left out for weeks. But at least its just slightly unaffordable and they repaint the hallways! read more

This Apartment complex has the most friendly Staff. Natalie and Amanda are awesome. You can ask for your Amazon to leave packages with the staff and they notify you when they receive them. One time the delivery guy left my package outside the main entrance at 6 pm at night and I was out of town, Amanda the assistant mgr seen it picked it up and saved it for me!! A few times my pay day fell a few days after the due date and they never charged me a late fee as long as I communicated with them! There is a coke vending machine that takes card so awesome. Natalie puts together fun things like ugly xmas sweater contests, scavenge hunts, outdoor movie nights, and bingo! They even do Halloween door decoration contests. Each holiday they left small cards or even little gifts for you on your door!! So thoughtful! I must say they really go above and beyond! I recommend! read more

We got a new manager 6 months ago who refuses to address any issues. There is a resident who has been here since the new manager started, and he refuses to evict her. She has torn apart her apartment and the office building, vandalized the grounds, threatened residents, pulled the fire alarm numerous times in the middle of the night for no reason, and given the front door code to dozens of people who come in and out of the building at all hours. In addition, the manager allows a tow company to come on the property at any time they want. For months now getting hot water is hit or miss. Most days I have to heat water in the microwave and bathe in the sink. read more

I highly recommend these apartments. Not only is it a good price for a cute little apartment, the management is so on top of things and eager to help. I have been living at these apartments for so many years. I really enjoy living here and have a great neighbors that will say hi and help you with anything you need. Especially the manager Natalie, she is nice and respectful. She is very helpful to all the residents needs. Also she gets everything done to satisfy the residents. Living in these apartments has made me feel safe and there will always be a security guard to keep you safe living here. Also the assistant manager Amanda is nice and friendly. Update: have decided to update the review with list of cons and pros, but the rating is the same 1 star. We've lived in Santa Teresa Apts for year, but would move out much faster if there were no penalties for breaking the lease agreement. In overall - we like the area, but didn't like the apts. So I'd recommend to search other option if possible. Cons: - very dark rooms; - a lot of bugs and cockroaches in rooms (especially in kitchen and bathroom); - no washer/dryer/dishwasher in the unit; - expensive and always dirty washer/dryer on the site; - dirty swimming pool with cold water; - each Monday the gardeners clean and cut the grass and after the patio and all windows are dirty; - high penalties for 1 day late payment; - nothing interesting on the site; - thin walls and you hear neighbors; - playgrounds are not clean; - very strict parking rules; - from $1K deposit got back just ~$400; - appliances are painted by cheap paints which should be repainted each year. Pros: - swimming pool, very refreshing in hot days; - very good library nearby; - nice farmers market each Saturday on the parking near the library; - 5min by walk McDonald's and Rite Aid, 20min by walk Safeway, Target, Starbucks, and Michael's; - small playgrounds with sand on the site; - close to 85 freeway; - nice park nearby. read more

After finally leaving this place in 2015 to a smaller place that was not cockroach infested I had to place quite a bit of furniture into storage. I plastic wrapped everything tightly and vacuumed sealed all of our clothes as well as tightly packaging all of our utensils I still found baby roaches throughout everything. Extremely disappointing that our first apartment experience did not go great. Management was ok but after all living there is the real test. We first moved into the section that was remodeled and at first it was great (the one bed one bad units). We started to notice that it was very easy to hear our neighbors talk and fight ( all this usually happened around 3 am. ) after numerous complaints and nothing being done about it We decided to move into the bigger quieter units (big mistake number two) In that 2 bed 2 bath unit we we found that that the cabinets were Crap and that we smashed cockroaches nearly every day. It was definitely not something I wanted my wife and child to do. We ended up moving out those units and breaking our lease early. The break itself was a headache because paying 2200 a month for a crappy place was not enough for them. I do not recommend this place to anyone. The management was nice but the conditions of the place outweighed them by a mile. I'm still finding roaches in my stuff after 1.5 years. I had to throw away my microwave because I found that there were roaches coming out of it! read more

I recently moved in to the apartments and there are repetitive issues. This is the worst ever apartments I have lived in. Appliance's are pretty terrible conditions. I don't think apartment is at all serviced before renting. Office staff is good, but the software they use to respond for the issues raised is always doesn't work. Only good thing is maintenance guy is good guys, even if you inform him informally, he will fix the issues. read more

We have lived at the Santa Teresa Apartments for the last 2 and a half years. I have only positive things to say about the current management team. Since Natalie came on a year ago, things around the complex have vastly improved. She cares about the safety of the residents and property and is on top of repairs; currently, the roofs are being repaired. She is also very open to hearing any concerns you have and has conducted community meetings, as well as Christmas and Halloween get-togethers for the residents and staff. read more

If I had any issues they were quick to respond and deal with them and were very open/friendly, most of these reviews focus on old management. My parents lived over there for almost 20 years. I've never got even the paint job done in spite of my several requests. The management directly refused to do it. Finally when I've moved the parents from this cave apartment I couldn't get there 20 years old deposit back. They were charged for cleaning, removing the wall paper which they never put, and the additional outstanding balance $85 which we knew nothing about and the management couldn't explain what this for but that it is in the book. After several letters they removed the cleaning fee for people who were staying over there for 20 years!. The additional charges still were deducted from the deposit they returned. They also stopped any communication with us and Best Business Bureau. I don't recommend to come even close to this place. read more

Let me be the first to tell you that this place meaning the newer building is no good! The manager is the only person who works in the office other than the two janitors. The manager never answers the phone and usually is never in the office. The building is very cheaply built and I feel like it could fall down any day! I hear my neighbors on top, on bottom, on both sides of me and across from me! How uncomfortable is that? The walls are as thin as paper and I feel as if my neighbor upstairs just might fall through the floor! There is only 4 washers and 4 dryers for all 3 floors! The parking is an extra $ 25 a month added to your rent. Please don't move here unless it's some sort of an emergency! read more

Love my new home! I have been living here for a couple of months and I am so happy that I found Santa Teresa Apartments. The Management team are the best! Natalie and Cindy really care about the residents and go above and beyond to make sure that we are happy. They made the move in process so easy! They are both professional and always treat the residents with kindness. If there is ever an issue with anything, they are just a phone call or email away and issues are always quickly resolved. The Maintenance crew are awesome and always so helpful and professional. Everyone from the Management to the Maintenance crew care about the property and take pride in it. I have lived here for 6+ years and I recommend it to all who ask. The management staff are so professional, friendly, and helpful They make living here a pleasure. The maintenance crew are extremely responsive for everything from a major appliance issue to something as minor as burned out lights. The buildings and grounds, pool etc. are always well maintained. My family have lived in Santa teresa apartment for 2 years and just renewed our contract for another year. We love to live in this complex because it closes to everything, shopping mall, target, Safeway, farmer market especially library. It's only 2 minutes walk to the library. We love our management team especially my new manager. She is so kind and friendly. Since she started working, everything get fixed and repaired. My husband and I have been here for almost a year. Our lease is coming up but have decided to stay another year and change to a 2 bedroom. We really like it here. The farmer's market every Saturday right next door is my favorite part. The management is so much better now, she makes sure to have us together as a community and everything is becoming more clean and better repaired. We really appreciate it. This complex is on the lower end price wise for San Jose and it is worth it. I'm actually happy to be here for another year. read more

First and foremost as with any apartment complex you are going to encounter problems, but this place takes the cake. Where to begin??? At the top of my list is the management staff, or should I say person Debbie. She has no customer service skills whatsoever and good luck trying to get a hold of her because she is never there! Don't be fooled by the office hours posted on the door of 9-5. This person straggles in at her own leisure and when she does come in, she closes the office door so she can get her work done. Umm hello, don't you think you should be available to the tenants that need your assistance. Or should I say her excuses because she blames everything on the management company G&K. Her wing-man Andy aka "maintenance staff" is the rudest person there and is absolutely of no help so I wouldn't even bother trying to ask him for anything. And they sure do seem to take nice long lunch breaks, over an hour so more time out of the office. Therer is more stuff I can write about this person, but the bottom line is if I were you, I would stay clear away from this place. As mentioned in a previous post, if you do live here be prepared to get hit with $1,000.00 or more move out bill. I guess that is how these people make their money and the worse part is tha they are getting away with it. The new building is almost two years-old yet they feel they need to replace the carpet when you move out, even if it's clean. And for one, the carpet is a cheap piece of crap and it's pretty much the color of sand so again, that's how they get you. And the paint, good luck with that. I did not hang up anything on my walls yet still got charged for paint in my living room and if they have to paint one wall, they have to paint them all. I also heard that the manager had the balls to tell a new tenant that nobody had lived in her apartment that she was going to move into, yet someone did. Can you believe that crap...oh, and she will rent to anyone, and I mean anyone. They take section 8 & the majority of people who are on assistance, abuse it and are ghetto as hell. She has the habit of renting to these people and then having to evict them because once rent is due, they don't pay it. So be forewarned about this place, I would look elsewhere if I was you. read more

I've lived here for a little over 2 years now and ever since they switched property managers things have been getting worst and worst. The floors are rarely swept/mopped, the security doors frequently don't work, and the stairwells are cleaned once every fee months.They have raised the rent and still continue to have problems. There is no visitor parking so people are having to park in future resident parking, just recently we got a notice saying anyone parked in future resident parking will be towed but the property manage is always parked there!! She is unprofessional to say the least and i highly recommend you look somewhere else to live if your looking to live in South San Jose area. I am looking into talking to someone higher up to fix this management issue!! read more

We have lived here for 6 years. We moved here as it was affordable and hard to find an apartment building in the area with 3 bedrooms. The management we had when we first moved in was terrible and so we're the other preceeding managers and then we were finally blessed with an amazing manager Natalie R. She cares about her temnants, resolves issues right away and is working on upgrading the property more and more. We got new roofs, they re-did the pool, new mail boxes, put new floors and paint in the laundry rooms, rec room, office and gym and now are planning to paint the complex. Natalie cares on a personal level not just the bottom line like most companies do. The only complaint I have is that when we moved in we were issued 2 parking spots as we have 3 adults with cars being in a 3 bedroom but we had one parking spot taken away some time ago and parking on the street with Kaiser members is difficult especially when you go on vacation for a week you have to find somewhere to park your car so the city doesnt tow it. My car was recently tagged while I was away for a week so, this is a serious problem here. So, if you dont mind one parking spot it should work out fine for future residents. read more

These apartments are a sad representation of the Santa Teresa neighborhood. I have lived here for many years and nothing gets better. Been though many managers and none have gotten any better. Management doesn't deal with issues or responds to issues in a timely manor. I personally have gotten laundry stolen from twice from laundry rooms that keep getting broken into. You have residents that are inconsiderate to their neighbors day or night. There are some positives but the negatives definitely out weigh them. read more
