When I called Charles Whalen, he answered his phone, listened to my request & told me some one could come out within a week. (I thought, 'yeah, right!') He called back in a couple days & said if it was convenient Alex would come over that afternoon. He advised me of the $ for a service call & $ for milage which I thought to be reasonable. Alex arrived within the scheduled time slot. He was polite & knowledgable. He told us he had a locksmith company & he has been training with Mr. Whalen for more than 3 years. He checked the clock, explained what caused part of the problem (movers laid it down on its back). He cleaned, oiled & adjusted everything. He stayed while the clock ran through a cycle, made more adjustments. He stayed until the clock ran through a complete cycle without any problems. I was impressed with his commitment to providing good service with a repair that addressed all the issues. The total cost including the repairs was more than reasonable. I have other clocks I will be sending to Mr. Whalen for cleaning & repairs. I would highly recommend them.

    * This post is updated on day two with pictures. A dispatcher called me today to ask about my…read moreservice. I explained it was terrible. She stated she was sorry to hear that but that's as far as the call went. She asked me how much I paid. No idea where she was calling from and no attempt to resolve the issue. I have now spent a couple additional hours on this second day attempting to resolve the terrible installation. Most important is that the locksmith stated that the deadbolt didn't require the strike plate on the door frame because "it locked just fine without it". The strike plate is one of the most important pieces of the deadbolt system. It's secured by 4 screws, 2 of which are extra long to make it more difficult to forcibly break through the door. When I checked the second door I observed that the wrong strike plate was installed on that door. ---------Original post below------------ I just had the worst experience. I purchased 3 sets of Kwik Key lock sets with deadbolts including an electronic deadbolt from Home Depot and informed the contractor when he called me after receiving my contact info from the 911 or 24/7 locksmith main number. When the installer arrived, I showed him the lock sets and the 3 doors. he promptly began working on the first door. He didn't explain or comment about any door or door frame conditions or possible lock set compatibility issues. He began to attempt to cut the hole for the deadbolt. After about 10 minutes of using a hole saw on the first door, he stopped and said you have a metal door it will be $250 for this door. no price given prior starting work so I was now stuck with having him continue the work. He really struggled cutting the hole into the door. Metal capped doors are very common so this shouldn't have been a surprise or be difficult. He finally "completed" the electronic deadbolt install and then moved to the second door. I checked the first install door was getting stuck on the newly installed deadbolt and wouldn't open. I called him over to check it out and he wiggled the door and it finally opened. He then stated the door strikes were the wrong type and that he didn't have the tools to recess the door strikes which is a common step with changing lock sets. He also didn't secure the door strike on the door with screws so it was loose and it rattled when the door was closed. I ended up having to get my own tools out (Dremel) and recess the strike plate myself from the door frame on this first door and will have to remove the deadbolt to fix the strike plate on the edge of the door. i then checked the second door and he again comments after starting the door that they were the wrong types of locks. He also appeared to have taken metal cutters or a saw to trim the metal ring that goes around the latch and into the door. these are standard doors and frames. the lock sets were fine. Again, sawdust and metal chips and screws everywhere and he threw away the original lockset without asking. At this point with the first door partially completed (lockset hadnt been installed yet) and the second door that requires additional rework, I said stop. I didnt want him touching anything else and to pack up and go. He repeatedly stated I must pay him $500 for what he stated was two complete doors and he wouldn't leave. I offered $300 with the rationale, not the right tools, no review of the conditions prior to starting the work, sawdust and debris everywhere. Voices were raised and shouting back and forth continued and I finally relented and said I would pay $400 out of duress because he was refusing to leave and wanted to start uninstalling what he partially installed. He still wouldn't accept $400 until I told him I was going to call the business. He then said ok but only if I paid with cash app. Not all banks allow the use of cash app and I had never used it before so after trying 4 of my different bank cards, all of which are not acceptable with cash app, and therefore not being able to pay him via cash app I said there had to be another way to pay. He immediately pulled out the "square" for Apple Pay and said it would be a $50 surcharge to use Apple Pay. I finally got him to leave after paying $400 plus the $50 apply pay surcharge under duress. No receipt. I can't locate the business anywhere, the address linked to payment is a residential address and the name of the payee didn't match the name on the address. All info for 911 locksmith or 24/7 locksmith (it appears both names are used by the locksmith) there is no local company website and the parent website is very vague and there is no way to track it get company info other than using this yelp review. it appears that 911 locksmith and 24/7 locksmith is a nationwide shell of a company with a dispatch service that connects callers to local independent contractors. My specific experience was in northeast Ohio with a "locksmith" aligned with the address on this review.
