They take advantage of military customers. The Navy sent my husband here for work before he retired. The billing department continually sent us the bill that was supposed to go to the Navy. When we got a collections letter, we called and they said don't worry about it and that they would send it to the Navy. We continued to get the bills until the second collections letter arrived and we just paid it to be done with it. This has been going on for over 6 months. For those who aren't familiar with military medical, they refer you out to civilian practices when they don't have capacity to get you in. All required medical care is covered by the military for Active Duty personnel. Since my husband was retiring, that's what the Navy did. It was a requirement for his discharge from Active Duty and in no way his responsibility to pay. It's really frustrating that this small business could not get their communication figured out, and now we have to try and get reimbursed $1,000 from the military. read more

I was overcharged for a deep cleaning. When I spoke to my insurance company I was overcharged $210. I was also given an estimate for a couple of crowns $1285 each. My insurance company said the crowns that I should get are $300 with insurance. I was quoted for Cerec Zirc which is an un-needed up sale. When I called to let them know I just wanted the full cast metal base crown I was told the Dr doesn't do those only the expensive ones. First, all office personal nice. Went to get teeth cleaned. Was told by dr. that I needed a cap on a tooth that does not bother me (as preventive), I request a new bite guard, and was told I needed deep cleaning instead of regular cleaning. (still have no idea what the difference is). Next thing I know they bring in finance person who tells me it will either $1100, $1500, or $1800. I told then I have never paid out of pocket for cleaning and to just do cleaning covered by insurance. I was then told it would be $280. At that point I walked out. We been with that office for more than 8 years. Doctors are good but having appointment is such a struggle. They always have you wait usually 20-30 minutes. And one time I showed up 15 min late they refused to help and ask to reschedule which closest date is a month later. Nobody on the office you can talk to like a manager or supervisor and you can see the look in their front desk staff faces saying ( we do not care ). Getting appointments or rescheduling is very hard. They obviously have a lot in their plate and their office cannot handle the number of patients they signed up. My daughter had her first ever dentist appointment today. She was so nervous but was so warmly greeted by Dr. Brandon's nurse (I am SO sorry I forgot her name). After my daughter was not having it, the nurse did not force anything but rather had Dr. Brandon clean my daughter's teeth while I was able to hold her to comfort her. I did have my infant daughter in my arms, so the nurse was kind enough to hold her so I could hold my daughter while her teeth were cleaned. Both the nurse and Dr. Brandon were kind, explained everything to both myself and my daughter and made us feel as comfortable as possible. My daughter even received stickers and a balloon (which will make coming next time that much easier). Took my son here for pediatric dentist. They're contracted with our HMO insurance. It was easy to make an appointment. When we arrived I found the place to be clean. Everyone was very friendly, X-ray tech, the assistant that did the teeth cleaning, and especially the dentist Dr. Brandon Gire. I found Dr. Brandon to be very personable and excellent with my son. He was thorough and quick. He made all my Mom worries go away! I liked that they had TV's for the kids to watch at the chair. My son felt very at ease. The only reason we go to Santee Town Center Dental is due to insurance... My daughter needed a tooth extracted for braces. Our first appointment, no one was there when we arrived - turns out the dentist had jury duty so cancelled all appointments that day. We had to wait over 2 months to reschedule. When we arrived today, apparently we were double booked and they couldn't see us. I have now taken off 2 days of work and prepped my daughter each time for a tooth extraction and still nothing has been done. The receptionist says she left a VM, which is crazy. I never received that but I DID receive an email requesting that I check in, in addition to a text message this morning reminding me of the appointment. WHAT A WASTE OF TIME! I've been going here since 2014 and things have taken a turn for the worse. The Doctor here is worse than a mechanic, used car salesman, and insurance salesman combined. She actually refused to clean my teeth because I declined the deep cleaning and laser therapy she wanted me to get. The front desk and dental assistants are awesome but the doctor is horrible. I actually requested to make my next appointment with Issac the assistant as he was much more pleasant and cleaned "scaled" my teeth for me after the dentist refused too. My daughter got braces from here and they were very kind to her and very thorough. She gets very nervous and the assistants and orthodontist were kind to her and tried to be as positive as possible. She didn't always were her bands like she was supposed to and I was a slacker Mom and didn't nag her like I probably should have. They were patient and positive with her and wouldn't let her get her retainer until the teeth were properly aligned. I appreciated the tough love they showed. The pediatric dentist , Dr Gire, is amazing! He's super sweet with my toddler and is bilingual. I love how he takes the time to explain things to me and will make sure my son is comfortable before moving on to any stage of the procedure. Dr Gire gets the 5 stars. The regular dentist is horrible. First time I went in she said two words to me and left. Offered me no time to ask questions. Last time I went I was pregnant, after making me wait an hour last my appt the dentist finally came and and told me she couldn't examine me without a waiver. She said it was strict policy. So they made me wait, billed my insurance company a visit, and did absolutely nothing. They could have told me the second I walked in that if I didn't have a waiver they wouldn't see me. Today I went in. I need some work done but my insurance only covers a metal crown. They told me they don't do metal crowns ($90) and want to charge me out of pocket for a different kind ($415). When I started questioning her about why I need to do the more expensive one she started to raising her voice .They make it too obvious they're all about money. This place is a scam. OK, I arrive at 7:55, for an 8 AM appointment for an exam and a cleaning. New patient paperwork and what not, took 5-10 mins. Then I sat till 8:40 waiting to be seen. I was not very happy by that point. X-Ray Tech was very cool, nice guy, worked quickly. Met the Dentist, very friendly man, he was also thorough and and very professional. I was told that I had need of a special lazer treatment to clear up some minor bacterial inflamation that was visible when he poked me with the dental tools. So away he goes to tend to another patient. In comes one of the assistants to inform me that they have a 9:45 appointment for the lazer treatment and cleaning. Hold on, I was here at 8 am for a cleaning. But no, they have to do this lazer thing before they can do the cleaning. And the best part? the lazer thing isn't covered by my insurance. So that will be $125.00 please. So I'm a little pissed. Ive waited around for half an hour, then get told I can't have the service I scheduled unless I pay extra for this other service, and by the way, can you wait another 30 mins for that. So, 2 stars. The people were all cool. Liked everyone I interacted with. The service was iffy. Felt unappreciated by being left to wait for so long, then felt kinda bait-and-switchy once I was actually getting the service. I don't think I will be back. read more

I would strongly NOT recommend coming here. This is my second time. The first time I actually had a semi-decent experience. This time, not so much. The staff is completely rude and incompetent. The dentist was super nice and seemed to be the only who did or knew how to do her job. Hence the 2 stars. For the dentist. Also, my appt was at 1pm and I was not even taken back until 1:45pm. Every time I asked the front desk how much longer...the answer was "only 5 more minutes" Oh and don't get me started on the tech that tried to have a full on conversation with me when my mouth was completely numb and had gauze in it. Been taking my kids here for a few years for orthodontics. I would change in a heartbeat if you wouldn't cost me more money. The Dr has changed, the staff has changed. We are just a $. The needed treatment has changed several times, each time costing me more money. They have another dental office down the street as well. Same environment and issues there. if i could it would be no stars... at first i liked them, i have to kids and was able to get them seen in the same day and it was their first dentist appts... they were seen the same day but we had to wait 3 months for an appt. THEN i had an emergency where i broke a tooth, not chipped but broke. They said i had to wait TWO weeks for an opening. Um, i'm sorry i thought a broken tooth was considered an emergency... i guess not. Would you want your kids to go through that pain for TWO WEEKS?????? probably not and kids need to eat real food and thats not easy to do when in pain they also dont know how to eat on "one side of their mouth". i was not given instructions on what to do nor was there anything else said to me other than they can get me in in two weeks... we found a new family dentist 30 min later. Dr. Jadali Saved my life. I had to come in for an emergency procedure of my infected root canal tooth that kept me up the night before with unbearable pain. Dr. Jadali performed the extraction smoothly and made me feel very comfortable. The pain was gone and i was feeling much better. All the workers were very friendly, honest and helpful. Never again! Needed a crown. Wow an upgrade at no extra charge! Crown felt gritty or dirty all the time. No problem. They replaced it with a porcelain one. Problem solved, until the infection. Oops, they left a little string around the tooth. Antibiotics! Months later still issues. New dentist found more string left around the tooth. Sorry, I would not recommend this office. UPDATE! My husband's "upgraded" Cerec crown has cracked after less than 2 years. Insurance won't pay any of it because of it's age. The Dr said Cerec was better and stronger than porcelain on metal. Don't be fooled! Do your research unless you don't mind spending all of that money every few years. read more

It's kind of annoying to read through the other reviews because I feel like they're dishonest as there is no way some of those things would happen at this office. After years of horrible experiences with dentists, I can finally go and not feel like I'm in horrible pain and being ripped off. I feel like I can really trust him and he's super gentle! I even had to go when I was pregnant and felt very safe as they took every precaution necessary. They're also great with kids there, so I know where I'll be taking my little one. I like him so much that I travel pretty far just to go to his office and it's totally worth it. I've recommended him to all of my family and they now travel to go to him too! I love Dr. Ferguson. Hands down, she is amazing. I hadn't been to the dentist in about 4 years. I moved to SD and was nervous about going anywhere because I had always seen the same dentist my whole life. I loved my previous dentist which made me 100% sure I would hate any other dentist that wasn't him! Dr. Ferguson was very kind and professional. She introduced herself to me and discussed my concerns before she even looked at my teeth. She took the time to explain to me what I needed done and why. But she did it in a way that didn't make it seem overwhelming. I had a broken molar that needed crowning and she started working on it that day. Instead of making me come back later, I left after that first appointment with a temporary cap on and feeling tons better. The x-ray tech/hygienist that helped me was named Jay. He was very nice. He was very personable and I felt like he genuinely cared about me as a patient and didn't look at my mouth as just another "job". He took time to get to know me, which helped calm my nerves about the whole appointment in general. The front desk staff was so nice to me. The girl that came in and went over my insurance was so nice. She explained all of my options, what they would cost, how I could save the most, ect... She really took the time to make sure I was comfortable with what was going on and I knew exactly what I was paying for. I actually look forward to going to the dentist now. Who says that!? Worst place ever. I went there because it was close and looked nice. I wish I had done reviews first. I have 4 things that I will mention that hopefully others will read and stay away from this place. 1st I had to get a root canal and they took 6 hours to do it because they kept leaving me in the room to go work on someone else. I ended up having to call in to work while still having some of their tools in my tooth to tell them that I wasn't going to make it in. 2nd, They ended up putting my signature on a paper that I didn't sign which caused me to have to pay a large sum right after service. When I told them I didn't sign that, they claimed I did. I had signed other papers in black ink. I've learned my lesson on that. I use blue pens now. 3rd, I had to have my wisdom teeth removed. They said it would be good to get it out of the way before they even came close to the time to get it removed. They knock you out for the surgery which is good, but what was bad was they woke me up afterward and made me get up right away to move to another chair. I ended up having a panic attack and they escorted my husband and I out because they wanted to go home. It was 5pm. They didn't give us time to recover from the panic attack saying "She won't remember any of this." I was also swollen for a full 2 weeks longer then the normal time it takes to recover. 4th, and this is the most important one. I recently had to have oral surgery. The reason, THEY LEFT A ROOT FROM A WISDOM TOOTH BEHIND!! They didn't even bother to tell me. It took about 4 years before it started pushing up on another tooth and causing so much pain that I couldn't even sleep. I had to go to a specialist to have them drill out the full root and nerve that was left behind. They also damaged the bone in the jaw line making it even harder for the dentist because he had to be extra careful during the procedure. So save yourself money, time, and pain.
