He eloquently explained how the procedure was going to be done , and presented me with different options , with absolutely no unnecessary upsell with I really appreciated. He did an amazing job of color matching and contouring. My teeth looked good as new! If you are afraid of going to the dentist, let me tell you, this is THE PLACE FOR YOU! Tl;dr: Dr. Fossett is an honest guy who isn't going to nickel and dime you and come up with things that need to be done to charge you or your insurance for procedures, he is understanding and up-front about things he is concerned about and what your options are, and, I have never met anyone in his entire office who has been less than warm, kind, patient, funny, and sympathetic to my jittery, terrified self sitting down in their chairs and white-knuckling it through my visits. Here's the extended cut story: About 7 years ago my wisdom teeth started coming in, and after many years of avoiding the dentist, I scoured Yelp for a place with great reviews for folks who are terrified of the dentist (literally spent days reading dozens of reviews for offices all over East County), and this one beat everyone out by far. I gave it a shot, and in just 7 years, I've gone from "I can't go to the dentist, it's just too terrifying", to going every six months like clockwork and feeling that terror just melt away a little more every time. Dr. Fossett is an honest man, he explains what he sees in his exams and assessments, gives you options, treats you politely and fairly, and doesn't try to pressure you into getting work done if you don't need it. His results are great and I have zero complaints, and I fully believe his and his team's excellent care is the only reason I was brave enough to get a crown last fall. During the crown procedure itself, Dr. Fossett was patient with my awful gag reflex, let me take breaks to get my breathing under control, did everything in gentle stages, and still got the whole shebang done in under 45 minutes! In addition to Dr. Fossett being great, I've had truly wonderful experiences with the hygienists (Sue, Rachel, Natalie - you ROCK), who have helped turn regular cleanings from being a sensory overload/hellacious nightmare fuel experience with the shrill noises and the poking and the scraping, into a gentle, familiar process that is way less terrifying. The nicest, friendliest dental office I've ever been to! I've been a patient for awhile now and am finally writing my review. From the very first call inquiring about services and insurance coverage, I could tell how friendly and welcoming the office was going to be. It is a family owned office that is extremely welcoming and everyone takes pride in their work. My husband and 2 young kids are also patients here. My kids actually look forward to their cleanings now because everyone is so nice and it's painless. I recently had a crown done by Dr Fossett and it was a painless and almost relaxing experience. He explained everything beforehand and let me know before he started the next step. (He's also very nice and funny). They were also able to verify with my insurance what my out of pocket for the crown was which is appreciated because no surprise bill later. So this review isn't about any recent visit, I actually haven't been in about a year (had an appointment but was cancelled due to COVID :/ very understandable though) but I never knew they had a yelp page so I thought I'd add my 2¢ First of all, the place looks very clean and put together. The ladies at the front desk either times I visited have been very welcoming. I've had 2 separate teeth cleanings here and I love the fact that they have TVs mounted on the ceiling. I had my first round of dental work done EVER in my life here and it was for cavities. I've never had more than a cleaning so I was VERY nervous. Dr. Fossett let me break up the cavity appointments into 2 to make me feel more comfortable. He told me it wouldn't be that bad and that I could handle all of them at once but my nerves set in and he was okay with that. When I went back in and got the rest, I realized he was completely right when he said I could have handled it! There was ZERO pain, the only uncomfortable part was my jaw hanging open but that comes with the job! He made sure that I felt nothing before he injected me to numb me completely and I barely felt any pressure (and I have a very low tolerance for pain too)! I have felt very secure in every appointment I have had with this office and was recommended to a very wonderful dental office for my wisdom teeth removal which btw went wonderful. Something needs to be said! I cannot fully express how much I love this office. I've always gone to corporate dental offices and developed a bit of anxiety when going into my appointments. I've experienced overcharging and many return visits to correct previous procedures. I needed a change. I've received numerous referrals for Dr Fossett's office and I wish I had come over sooner. He and his staff are attentive, caring and absolutely amazing. They really take the time to get to know you and build meaningful relationships. Who knew that going to the dentist could feel like you're visiting family! Dr Fossett is honest and will take the time to walk you through everything that he is doing. He is very skilled and will try his best to keep all procedures in house to avoid extra cost or time delays. I have trusted him with two implants now and every visit was comfortable. I wrote a negative review for this business regarding my experience and the company wrote back an extremely snarky reply rather than accepting feedback and seeing what they could do to improve their services. They then decided it would be okay to go through my personal records and contact a family member of mine in attempt to coerce and intimidate me to remove the review, which is extremely illegal and failed miserably. Not to mention, the person they contacted was my elderly grandmother who has a heart condition causing her extreme distress. She is also a patient of theirs, and I wouldn't be surprised is they tried to remove her or retaliate against her when she has absolutely nothing to do with this matter. By doing so, they broke the law by violating my privacy via CPPA and HIPAA which I have reported to both agencies. I tried to contact them about the matter via email and received no response. In response to yours below: You saw a new patient as a favor to someone- I didn't realize it was a favor as I paid $300+ for the exam, x-rays, and insults. I expressed my concerns and you called them "mickey mouse stuff" and proceeded to ask "well can't your parents pay for it?" which is extremely inappropriate, patronizing, and out of touch considering not everyone is privileged and has parents. Not to mention i'm not a child. The dental assistant was very sweet and even seemed appalled by her facial expressions. And it doesn't matter what you think my behavior is, it was my experience. You broke the law and you will be interacting with the State in a few months. read more

Practice surely makes perfect!!! *IF YOURE AFRAID OF THE DENTIST, DON'T BE SCARED OF DOCTOR DOUGLAS FOSSETT!! I have NEVER, EVER experienced such a gentle, pain free dental work. It's AMAZING how I DIDNT FEEL THE ANESTHETIC NEEDLE at all! I kept thinking, "when am I gonna feel this needle!?" Bc that's the part I really hate!! Dr. Douglas was so precise and gentle only my ONE TOOTH IS NUMB! Literally, I can still feel most of my lip and the two neighboring teeth!!! NEVER EXPERIENCED ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE! Because of some scheduling conflicts, and the first veneer not matching color perfectly, it took a while for me to finally get this, BUT IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!!! The color is BEYOND PERFECT -- EXACTLY in between the other front tooth (which is too dark, but I dealt with it -- see my last post for more details) and the lighter canine tooth!! Exactly!!! Dr. Fossett himself was a great dentist, I had a crown done and aside from my jaw clicking every now and then the crown has been sufficient and I've had no problems. The reason for the 1 star is for my experience with the actual office. I was a student in San Diego at the time I was receiving treatment and shortly after, graduated and moved back to central California, after calling multiple times to make payments on my account the front receptionist was not only extremely rude, but wouldn't provide me with my account information to make the payments. After multiple conversations she finally checked the system to confirm that I was in fact a patient, and I was able to make a few payments. In addition, the office never sent me notifications of my account balance by mail, email or by phone, I had to manually keep track of everything, I was also never provided receipts for my payments, and after nicely asking the receptionist multiple times for account updates she always responded with a stern "no". Without notice, I was sent to a collections agency. The agency they're associated with is not only known for harassing people with phone calls, but has also been very difficult for me to work with, and as a professional dental office, it's disappointing they chose this collections agency to work with. Overall, Dr. Fossett himself was professional and a great dentist, however, at the time I was receiving treatment the office itself handled my situation very poorly. I would recommend Dr. Fossett as a dentist to anyone in the area, but I would also recommend you have an insurance that fully covers your services. read more

Even though I no longer live in the Santee area, with the exception of my annual cleaning, I still make the trip down to Santee whenever I need a procedure done. Years ago I had a chipped tooth and went to a local dentist. It turned into a nightmare that caused me a ton of pain and way more money than it ever should have. I was first treated by Dr. Dave Fossett in 2009 when I had cracked a tooth in my sleep. I had seen 2 other dentists, but because I didn't have insurance they took one X-ray and told me to take Ibuprofen and hopefully it was just swollen and bruised. Dr. Fossett took my complaint much more seriously and immediately did a full set of X-rays and tried everything he could to figure out what the problem was that was causing me so much pain. He then worked with me to find the most conservative treatment to try to save the tooth and save me money since I had no insurance. I was living out of state at the time, but after that experience I made all appointments with him when I was on break from school. I came all the way from Oklahoma to his office for just a cleaning. They make you feel like you matter and like they truly care about your dental health, and they understand that dental work is expensive. Now that I have insurance and I live back in state I see them regularly for all of my work. I have a lot of dental issues and I have always been embarrassed about my bad teeth, but they took the time to explain that it had little to do with my at home dental hygiene and more to do with poor genetics. Dr. Dave Fossett takes the time to go over my care plan at the end of every visit and see where I am both in my mind set about my teeth and in a financial situation to see if I am comfortable proceeding. He always explains to me what is happening during the procedure and makes sure that I am as comfortable as possible. Due to my severe dental needs I have had trouble getting numb on one side of my mouth, so he always checks with me to make that I am alright and will stop and do whatever necessary to make me more comfortable. He is very meticulous with his work and ensures that everything that he does is of the highest standard of care. I am happier with the work I have had done there than any other work I have ever had done. One of my favorite things that he does is call to follow up after a visit. He doesn't have an assistant do it. He takes the time to call himself and ask how you are doing. He genuinely wants to know if there are any complications. Lastly I want to talk about the office staff. They are upbeat, pleasant, and take the time to get to know the patient's. I especially appreciate Robin's sense of humor attention to detail. Overall this is a dentist office that I would suggest to EVERYONE! They do general dentistry, endodontics, and implants, so you can get almost all care done directly through them, which I LOVE! My husband needed some emergency work done and the sweet receptionist worked with me to get him squeezed in. He enjoyed his experience so I went to see them for my cleaning (first in 11 years, eek!). Dr. Fossett (the son) examined my teeth and was very informative. His assistants were all very nice and made me feel like I'd been going there forever. I LOVE the hygienist. I had my first appointment at this office today and was feeling REALLY nervous, since I haven't been to the dentist in 4 years or so. All of the staff that worked with me today was so friendly and also made sure that I felt comfortable and eased my nerves greatly. Dr Fossett and his staff were very knowledgeable and made it clear what future work I would need to have done, how I could schedule it and how much it would cost. Dr. Dave is a great dentist and I highly recommend him to anyone. His office is run very well and they are easy to reach/connect with for scheduling matters. I was referred to Dave from a friend and am very happy. I don't mind driving 20+ minutes from my house to get there.
