Okay I'm going to be brutally honest. This will be long. Since I was 12 I've had a phobia of the dentist due to a horrible experience that left me traumatized to the point where I refused to go back to the dentist & now need extractions, fillings, root canals and eventually dentures. I was referred here by another Dental office and was like oh no my luck has run out. The referring Dental office initially broke the ice from my trauma. I took a deep breath and expected the worse and now with the right plan. I can't wait to go back. All you need is a decent insurance and everything will be taken care of. I made an appointment as a first time client. They were nice and accommodating during check in, X-rays, and a cleaning. The TV was on when I was brought in the room and I asked the technician watching it if he could change the channel away from Fear Factor, since I already have dental anxiety. He was real nice and changed it to a sports channel, which was fine. Then the dentist came in and did an exam and discussed treatments options with me. This is where things turned sour. I was comfortably laying in the dentist chair while the dentist Dr. Al Tekreeti was talking. The TV was still on and the dental chair forces you to look towards the TV. I'm not one who makes firm eye contact, I tend to look away periodically to break it up, and breaking up the eye contact meant moving my eye view to the TV. I did this several times while the dentist was speaking. He was annoyed by this and asked me in a chastising tone, the way a professor would speak to a student, if the TV was more interesting. I was shocked by this behavior and it took me a few seconds to respond. I informed him I have anxiety and eye contact is uncomfortable for long periods. He never seemed to recover from my perceived rudeness and I felt uncomfortable after that. I WILL NOT RETURN! I'm giving a 2 because the XRay tech was so kind. He earned 5 Stars but the Dentist earned zero and even deducted 3. Plus, there was no toilet paper in the bathroom. I forgot to add that the dentist says I have a "new" cavity. I had them show me a picture of the cavity. It's actually a stain on an upper tooth that has been there for at least a decade. ITS NOT A CAVITY. I did second guess myself and got a 2nd opinion with my Veterans Affairs dentist. It's not a cavity. read more

They took a year to let me know if my insurance was approved by contacting me to come in for a cleaning lol .. like they totally forgot about my treatment plan they had talked to me about. But it's ok I moved forward found a way better dentist that's more attentive and they started my treatment plan as soon as my insurance approved it .. within two weeks! I don't recommend this place . My experience has been terrible here. Sadly I have had to find a new dentist. My biggest complaint is the oral surgeon that was RAVED about by the front office. I was able to get 2.5 of my wisdom teeth pulled. Yes 2.5 he left my mouth half done. He pulled 2 out and got the other one half out. He said oh ya I can't finish this and left the room. I had so many shots in my mouth I had a reaction to the numbing stuff. My other complaint I came in for my appointment, and the manager said to me oh my employees are on lunch just wait here. Waited over 45 min for them to come back and get set up. I showed up on time only to wait almost an hour and get it brushed off like it was no big deal read more

I went here for the first time on Wednesday and let me tell you, BEST DECISION EVER! I have medi-cal and I finally decided to use it for my dental needs. At my previous dentist I had a "membership" since they no longer took Delta Dental. I stuck it out for a while but over time it was getting too pricey and times are tough right now. (Not to mention, she was trying to do unnecessary work on a tooth that isn't causing me any issues at the moment.) I usually try to avoid places that accept medi-cal due to horrible past experiences. But this place seems different. The office is very nice and clean and everyone here is super welcoming. Also their equipment is also up to date, which is a HUGE PLUS! I needed a CT scan and Pablo hooked it upppp!! I mean he always does. Always looking out for me! (Even when he was working at the previous dentist office -- that's actually how we met! Lol) He truly is the best when it comes to customer service and taking care of his clientele. So happy to call this place my new dentist office! And even happier to be saving money! read more

I scheduled a new patient appointment for a routine teeth cleaning. Without any prior consultation or explanation, the office staff immediately asked me to undergo a Panoramic X-ray and 10 Bitewing X-rays. I expressed that I was uncomfortable doing all of these X-rays without first speaking to the dentist or understanding why they were necessary. Despite my concerns, I was told that the dentist would not even see me without completing them. When I declined, the dentist came in, told me he couldn't do anything for me without the X-rays, and then I was dismissed from the office. read more

Worst experience I've ever had at a dental office. Made an appointment based on reviews, but there was 1 other review that nailed the experience on the head. I had an emergency with a broken tooth. Made my appointment a week in advance, knowing I would need to complete first time patient paperwork, I arrived 30 minutes early. Upon arrival, I noticed I was immediately sitting in a tiny 6 person occupancy waiting area. Filled to maximum capacity. This place is a turn and burn, not focused on care and quality. The receptionist at the counter lacked organization and detail and immediately told me she text me all pre-arrival patient material. No she didn't. Then she said, "oh that's right! I emailed it to you." No she didn't. That's why I arrived early afterall. Finally she gave me the first time patient docs to get started. Now 40 minutes later and ten minutes after my appointment time, I finally get called to the patient room. I explain my emergency and despite my very specific purpose of having scheduled this for a broken tooth, they proceed to perform a cleaning, then send in a hygenist to recommend every extra add on service and deep clean under the moon. No exaggeration, three different waves of salesmen. Finally the actual doctor comes in to discuss the sole reason why I scheduled the appointment, probably a solid hour after all these other salesman do everything but treat me for what I came for. The doctor was sick. She did NOT belong working that day. Coughing up a lung, congested, etc. I ended up with the flu 72 hours later. She eventually sends in an assistant to perform a temporary patch on my broken tooth, the roughest, uncaring, lack of quality and detail patch, I've ever received in my life. Imagine getting a filling, but instead of making sure the bite is right, smoothing and texturing the filling, she just dumped a glop of gloop filler and literally left it that way. Unbelievable. I continued to observe a revolving door of people coming and going for 1.5 hours. Literally new people walking in every 5 minutes. The patient room is directly next to the entrance, so it's all you hear. The only other disheartening part were the tools and sanitation of the offices. Never in my life have I been to a dentist office and where normally all handles, switches, etc are masked in single use plastic to avoid cross contamination, there's is never replaced. I mean never. The blue see-through single use plastic was dark brown around lights and areas covered, as it's so old and in some areas the heat from the spotlights have burned through the plastic making it dark brown. Absolutely filthy. The "new" tools and dental equipment were not new. They all looked 10 years old, using rentable used equipment vs new polished tools to operate. I was exceptionally grossed out here. The aesthetic was stuck in the early 2000's, not modern, and I will never be back. Despite being an emergency, I received no treatment, was told they would be in touch to reschedule the exact same day for the service needed after confirming details with my insurance. 8 weeks, never heard from them. Completely forgot about me. Learn from mine and the other 1 star review. They are pure salesman here. They do not care about you on a personal level. This is pure volume pump and dump. read more

My recent encounter at Santee dental care was nothing short of a nightmare. I am compelled to share my experience as a warning to others who may consider seeking dental care from this establishment. My visit was marred by a clear focus on maximizing insurance claims, an unpleasant environment, and an overall lack of professionalism. To begin with, the scheduling process was chaotic and disorganized. Despite informing the office in advance that I needed a root canal retreat, they seemed more interested in squeezing as many procedures as possible to make extra money from insurance. It became evident that their priority was monetary gain rather than addressing my specific dental needs. I called and made an appointment and told them I am just coming for a root canal made it very clear and they agreed they would just do that. Now they're telling me they won't do my root canal retreat cause I don't want to do all the other procedures they told me to do Furthermore, the environment of the dental office was appalling. A foul stench permeated the air, leaving an unpleasant impression. A clean and sanitary atmosphere is essential in any dental practice, yet this place fell far short of even the most basic hygiene standards. The most distressing aspect of my visit, however, was the dentist's attitude his name is Pablo . His demeanor was dismissive and pushy, showing a complete lack of respect for my wishes and concerns. Instead of focusing on the treatment I explicitly requested and they AGREED to just do the root canal retreat, they insisted on performing a deep cleaning and even started filling procedures without my desire for such services. This blatant disregard for my stated needs was both unethical and unprofessional. What's worse, they informed me that I would need to undergo a series of additional procedures before they would even consider addressing my root canal retreat after they agreed they said they were just going to do my root canal retreat . These unnecessary procedures were clearly intended to increase the cost of my treatment, with no regard for my well-being or the initial reason for my visit. Their insistence on pressuring me into unwanted treatments only confirmed their ulterior motive of exploiting insurance claims for financial gain. To make matters even more frustrating, after I expressed my dissatisfaction and declined the unnecessary procedures, they abruptly informed me that they would no longer perform the root canal retreat as originally agreed upon. They told me they won't touch that u till they do all the other procedures. Their sudden change of course left me feeling betrayed and deceived, as they reneged on their earlier commitment. I strongly advise anyone considering seeking dental care at Santee dental care to exercise extreme caution. The unethical practices, unhygienic environment, and disregard for patient preferences are clear indicators of a deeply flawed establishment. It is imperative to explore alternative dental providers that prioritize patient well-being and uphold professional standards. My experience at Santee dental care was a complete nightmare. From the money-driven approach to the foul atmosphere, unprofessional attitude, and manipulation into unwanted procedures, it was a distressing encounter. Pablo was happy and not bothered at all to lose me as customer, he told me go some place else, after agreeing to the one procedure I asked for and then changing the whole script trying to maximize as much money as they can make off my insurance. I've been a patient at this dentist's office for two years. I've gotten plenty of work done and have had a referral to Crown Dental for a root canal; they also do a fantastic job of deep cleaning. Sonia is a very polite receptionist, and so is the team. However, I have had multiple issues with scheduling and sometimes even miscommunication with my insurance on their end. This place is still growing as a company, and they are hiring new doctors that are much better than before. Kudos to them for remodeling the office. I will definitely keep coming back. Please for your health do not come here. After stating they are unable to help with my root canal they proceeded to fill two cavities. Due to shaving my teeth down too much and not filling it correctly i now have a sinus infection that has spread to my eyes. Pablo tells you he will correct this and make sure you get on the correct medicine but dodges your calls and doesn't correct it. Anytime you call in the person you need to speak to is busy. Dr. Fernando and her staff are amazing! I called late on a Friday after breaking my cap almost completely off and they were able to help me on Monday!!! They referred me to an oral surgeon who was able to pull the tooth and Dr. Fernando and her staff made me a flipper so that I no longer had a big gaping hole where my front tooth used to be! When I brought my kids here 2 years ago it was great. The female dentist (owner) was perfect! She was friendly, kind, compassionate and always had a great demeanor. Her dentistry work was fantastic, she had a great way with children too. My kids loved her. Well, she sold in 2021, it was a huge surprise. I continued to bring my children and it just always felt like there was a problem. The new owner's demeanor is cold. I was informed today that I need to find a new dentist as the owner does not work with children. I need to find a pediatric dentist. They did part of the work today, leaving a filling that needs to be done. Basically kicked us to the curb. It just seems odd to take ownership of a business that is family dentistry to then change focus. I was so happy with the original owner, my kids loved her, I wish she would come back. Now I'm looking for a dentist and let me say, it's already a struggle, most don't want new patients. Good luck here. I always disliked the dentist since I was a child. I was always scared to go. This specific dentist has changed my perspective. Only for them though. Dr. Al is an awesome person he so fast and gentle. I usually feel the shots. But the first time in 20 something years I didn't feel it.. I was super shocked and ecstatic by that.
