AWFUL customer service and downright shady. I've been coming here with my family for a while but recently they put my recommendation to shame. My friends called to make an order and some lady answered then placed them on hold for a while and forgot about them. When she did answer, she was super snappy with a lot of attitude and hung up in the MIDDLE of them talking. Tried calling before I left the house to place a to-go order. The phone rang for at least 7-10 times before the called was hung up on. I've had Santiago's breakfast burritos a few times. Every now and then they get brought into work. But this was finally the first time I got to visit Santiago's first hand. And let me tell you. They do not disappoint. The burritos are made to order and their perfect size. Everyday is a different meat if the day which is nice because it gives it a nice variety if you go on a daily. You get to choose your spice level between mild, half and half or hot. I got the mild with no cheese and we also got a hot. The meat of the day was chorizo. It took maybe 5 mins from the time I ordered to the time I got my burritos. Which is speedy fast. The price is also really good. It's roughly $2.80 for a burrito. If you are a breakfast burrito lover like me. This is the place to go. The service is speedy and the burrito is mouthwatering delicious. Best part is they open at 6am so you can stop by before work and grab a few. Highly highly recommend!! read more

I was having a major craving for Santiago's this morning. I was very disappointed with my experience. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros with half and half chili and flour tortillas. My tortillas were cold as if they were pulled straight from a refrigerator. My food was decent to say the least. My dish lacked flavor and was cold. My husband got the steak burrito deluxe. His food was also room temperature and had two gray hairs in it! Eek! The salsa we ordered with chips tasted like tomato sauce, and also lacked the quality salsa flavor. Our server did not seem enthusiastic to work with us or even apologized for the hair in our food. That is why I didn't even bother to ask for warm tortillas or share concerns about my meal. I feel terrible leaving this review because I have always loved eating at Santiago's, but this was subpar. As much as I truly enjoy their food I cannot recommend dining at this location. Their staff here is extremely rude and non professional. I really don't feel appreciated for patronizing this establishment. I have taken my business elsewhere do to the rudeness of the waitresses. My takeout orders have been wrong and while inquiring I was told that they were very busy and didn't have time to listen to my issues. They did offer a credit. When I explained that I wasn't looking for a free meal or credit I just wanted them to get my order correct and to listen to my concerns. Didn't have the time for my concerns, very sad to see this type of lackadaisical attitude. Been eating at Santiago's for over 20 years but time to move on. Hi all, I am writing my first ever yelp review, and I would never talk down a business unless absolutely necessary, let alone write about it. Unfortunately, today is that day. I went in today Wednesday 1/17/2034 for my work break around 1pm and ordered extremely simple burritos, just two ground beef and cheese burritos for my brother, he decided he no longer wanted them after tasting how salty it was. So I ate the both of them thinking he was just being silly. NOPE, these burritos were disgusting. Extremely salty and dry. It tasted overall expired. I should have taken that as my sign, but I was hungry and had nothing to eat this day, all day, I barely got away from work for a break. I should have taken the tase as a sign because the next thing I know I am vomiting my guts out. We are taking I am currently writing this from the emergency room puking, sweating, shivering, and of course other awful fluids. I nearly passed out from pain and went to the emergency room a few hours later. Now, I tried to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt because I love Santiago's. However my suspicions were confirmed when they were pumping me full of liquids, that I had in fact ingested expired/ incorrectly handled bad meat. Specifically GROUND BEEF! As I mentioned, the only thing I had to consume today, let alone MEAT, was the Santiago's ground beef burritos. I am currently in so much pain trying to pass this food poisoning, and most importantly am extremely disappointed to have been served this quality of food. The 13$ was not the issue, it is the fact I can't even drink water and sleep because of the pain this food has caused me. I was excited to try one of their breakfast burritos, as I'd been told that Santiago's has the best ones in Denver. I didn't completely understand at first, but it appears there's a meat of the day for all burritos. Today it was bacon. It was pretty decent overall. The flavors were right, and the salsa was tasty. I would have a photo, but it wasn't very photogenic. I would have liked it better if it were made fresh, but I get the sense that they probably need to be pre-made to deal with the sheer volume of folks. Price-wise, it's excellent. I got it to go, and the service was overall pretty quick and friendly. I'm told that the original Santiago's is better and look forward to trying the breakfast burrito there. read more

As a Denver native I'm very familiar with Santiagos and I've usually put up with messed up orders, half witted servers and mediocre food when I'm too lazy to cook for myself. But yesterday sealed the deal for myself and my family. We were told by a "server" that we could not sit in the only big booth they have cause there were only 3 of us and in her words "if 5 people come in they need this table". Mind you the restaurant was maybe 1/3 full. What she didn't know was that we would be ordering extras to go for family unable to attend. And more importantly, some people suffer from any variety of issues such as anxiety or claustrophobia so sitting in the very back corner is ideal to be able to even visit an establishment like that!! As a former server myself, the way she handled the situation was for lack of a better word, ghetto!! I didn't bother to get her name as we just walked out. Perhaps the owners can teach some sensitivity training and English lessons as well. read more

So I'm upping their rating to 3 stars. I went back for takeout...I know, I know, in my first review I said I'd never be back. But here we are 3.5 months later....I had only $8 in cash for lunch and was craving Mexican food. Because the food here is so inexpensive I decided to grab some takeout, and give it another try. I went with a stuffed sopapilla, smothered in hot green chile, and a plain crispy chile relleno on the side. Both items were very good, and the green chile was actually hot this time! The stuffed sopapilla was huge and only around $6. I was much happier with my food this time around, and the fact that they charge for chips and salsa was less annoying, since I got takeout and already had some at home (obviously, the no margaritas thing wasn't an issue either). This was my 2nd Santiago's burrito and I have to say I like the breakfast burritos better. We also had chips and salsa, and the salsa was actually reminiscent of marinara sauce and somehow still had quite a kick. It was interesting, but again I was quite famished. The service was meh.
