I was a little disappointed with this place. The service was a little on the slower end, but I didn't mind it very much. I had some issues with the flavoring of the meat in the tacos. I found it to be flavorless. We asked for some hot sauce, but were given a bowl of salsa, that was very watery. I thought the avocado in the tacos and the beans given were nice additions, though.

Not too busy lunch time I can't believe I found this place is the best

I had the best carne asada and it came with huge slices of lemon a roasted pepper another roasted sliced pepper guacamole rice beans and the steak was superbly seasoned and cooked Choice of corn or flour tortillas also plus you get the chips in and salsa to begin with

    Menu (6/2019)

Delicious and affordable. The guac isn't my favorite but pretty much everything else is really good.

I had a great experience from the moment I walked in. The soda and chips were brought out right away. The service was amazing and so fast. I ordered 2 tacos, enchilada, and burrito. I can say without a doubt this is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Denver. I will definitely be coming back and brining family and friends. 10/10 recommend!!

I've been coming here for a long time since I live right around the corner. It's a great place to grab a margarita and chow down on some tasty Mexican food. Service can be spotty at times, but it's not because the staff isn't friendly and trying their best. It's because coming on a peak time means they are packed full and they're busy. They are always welcoming, always smiling, working hard, and aiming to please. This used to be known for cheap cheap cheap food, but inflation has caught up a little so the prices have risen but they're still solidly in the reasonably cheap range. My go-to here is the #6 combo which comes with a relleno, tostada, taco, and enchilada, but I've tried and liked just about everything off the menu except for the breakfast. One basket of chips with salsa is complementary, but you can pay for more or order a side of guacamole and they'll bring you a second basket. This is a no-frills restaurant, so if you're coming looking for an out of this world Mexican extravaganza, you may be in the wrong place. Come here instead for simple good food and service. One thing about this place is that they don't take reservations and they don't have a wait list. Tables all full when you arrive? Hop in line. See a clean available table that you like? Jump on in when it's your turn and sit on down. This is a good thing since you get to choose where you'd like to sit instead of having a hostess seating you at a table you might not like. But do them a favor and wait until they've cleaned the table off. It's not easy wiping down a messy table without messing up someone's clothes if there are customers already seated. Parking is easy here for those driving. They have their own lot right out front, but if it's very busy, it's no problem to park on the street. You'll usually find a wide open spot right in front. One thing I do like is the payment system. They've upgraded to the square terminal which allows taps. That means you can use a contactless credit card, or if you're a payment geek like me whip out your Samsung Pay, Google Pay, or Apple Pay. You can choose to tip from one of the pre-selected percentages, use a custom amount, or give zero and leave cash on the table for the server. I like the "no think" pre-selected amounts since the beer and margarita does a number on my ability to add 2+2. For those looking for a party-type bar atmosphere this is probably not your place for that. It's a family restaurant and although they have a super small bar and offer an assortment of beers and margaritas, it's a food service place as the primary business.

I ate at La Cocinita this past weekend, and I will say that the pork green chili is among the very best I've had in Denver.

This place fills up 60 days in advance, without fail! When we arrived, we were able to get parking about a block away on the street. We were soon greeted and guided to our seats upon walking in. This is a very small restaurant - only a few tables, not many options for big groups, and some bar seating both inside and outside. I can see why the reservations are in such high demand! We were recommended to get 4-5 small plates, so we decided on the Guacamole Alma, Burrito de Frijoles Puerco, Apache en su Jugo, and Enmolada de Pato. We also shared the hibiscus margarita and Mex 75. The drinks came out first - the hibiscus margarita was so refreshing, light and delicious! We weren't as big fans of the Mex 75 - but if you like smoky drinks this is the one for you. The guacamole came out first - it was tangy and tasty. I will say that the other dishes were a lot more unique. The burrito was a standout - we absolutely loved the homemade sourdough tortilla, one of the best we've ever tasted. The chorizo filling was savory and tasty. The Apache en su Jugo was unique and had a lovely flavor - if you are a beef tartare fan this is a wonderful dish to try! The enmolado de pato came out last and we thoroughly enjoyed the mole and flavor. This is definitely worth checking out. I will say as a Houston native we have several restaurants with similar flavors and slightly lower price tags and wait times, so I am a bit spoiled in that regard. But all in all the service is wonderful, it's a pleasure to try so many different and unique dishes, and the joy of snagging a reservation is worth it!

Place is cozy, right on the corner, very natural earthy interior design, makes it feel like vacation and very different from rest of Denver vibe. Foods are beyond just tasteful, feels like a whole experience with every bite. You typically need 4 to 5 plates for a party of two, each plate is elegantly designed and crafted. It comes out as a pure perfection, the house cocktails are unique above all is the avocado margarita, which is one of the exotic cocktails of all. Staff are extremely professional, not too friendly, not too cold, just the right amount of politeness to make one comfortable. For my fellow Denver folks, you have to visit this place to experience contemporary Mexican dishes, which, by the way, most of them taste more towards a comfortable level of spicy.

Looking at taco places, I went with something close by to our location and found this hidden gem. Nestled away on a small street corner of Clay Street and 32nd Ave. parking can be scarce, but I'm sure with the right time and a little bit of walking you will find and manage your way here. Outside the restaurant, they have a small seating area which now is winter too cold to enjoy, but I'm sure in the spring and summer and fall time is super enjoyable. The inside, though a little bit tiny and no cozier than going to your mom's house and expecting a family Filled living room/Kitchen. We went down and greeted by three smiling faces. We already looked at the photos online and knew we want tacos so opted with the chicken tacos and Carne Asada taco plates. The tacos place option came with 5 tacos with up to 2 choices of meats the ratio would be 2:3 .. freshly mashed guacamole made in front of you or freshly sliced avocado.. In the pictures I listed you will find each chicken and Carne Asada options. Both slow pictures missing two tacos because we devoured them as soon as we got into the truck. Their street tacos are heavenly! Chicken option was all chicken breast super juicy grilled to perfection five tacos on a plate another two tacos missing because my husband and I devoured it. This plate came we asked it with the guacamole option instead of fresh avocado. The carne asada was just FULL of flavor and the fresh avocado slices with green tomatillo salsa SLAPPED.. the tortillas are super soft and tears from how fresh the flour tortillas were!! Definitely a place to sit and eat there to enjoy the hot food. I'm originally from SoCal and a heavily populated Latinos with amazing tacos and food.. Taqueria La Familia passed the bar high!! We can't wait to come back and try other options and will update pictures and review then!

Honestly we probably didn't need all that because the tacos were so good I could've just filled up on more of the tacos, but still was a great meal!
