Called in an order. Checked in at the front register and was told it would be a few minutes. Instead of telling us when it was ready they put our food in the 'warmer' for 20 minutes. I finally got pissed off enough to try and cancel the order - then they miraculously found it. This has happened before.. disorganized at best. Poor customer service at worst. The deluxe carnitas burrito was not very good or fresh. The meat tasted like tuna. Carnitas is supposed to be deep fried and it was more like slow cooked stew The chicken enchiladas were mediocre. I guess this explains why I had not been back for 5 years, maybe local flavor but will be back in another 5 years. MAYBE read more

It is your typical Mexican place with the typical menu items. Nothing really unique here. The staff offers up chips and salsa when you sit down, but they DO NOT mention it's an extra $2.00. They make you think they're complimentary which I find very sneaky. You don't realize it until the bill comes. That knocked it down a star. What knocked it down another star was the horrible underseasoned, flavorless taco. It's ground beef and I swear they didn't even salt it. Taco Bell is so much more seasoned and had tons more flavor. Service was spotty but the server was nice. I don't think I'll be returning. There are so many other options out there. read more

Good Lord this was just delicious- and I wasn't even hungry, but I was on a date so I ate anyway (I know I'm kind of gluttonous, it's really a problem). I have eaten at Santiago's before, but this specific restaurant is the bomb (I'm dating myself with that phrase). Food was pretty delicious; I ordered the stuffed sopapilla. Do it, it's delectable. I also want to give a shout out to one of the best waitresses of the year. Her name is Gabby (sp?). Blonde hair, works super hard (like 3 jobs hard) and will throw a comeback at you if you give her whimsical grief. Needless to say, I would've given her 80% of my paycheck for a tip if my date would've allowed me to bring in my wallet. We love you, you deserve a raise. read more

What's sooo disappointing about this place is the food is incredible.. but the cashier that works in the morning just should not work there. She's TERRIBLE. She's a chubby teen and she's just so annoyed with life and makes you seriously not want to eat there. I have spoken to several others who said they always experience the same thing with her but fear complaining in this small town. Get the green chile! To be honest it didn't look like much on the outside, but we were extremely surprised after eating here the first time. Their burrito plates are so good. You have the choice between mild, hot, or half and half chile. I usually get the hot and it is delicious. One of the things that we enjoyed was the ability to call in an order and pick it up 10-15 minutes later. There are Santiago restaurants all over northern Colorado but this was the first one we tried and it's still our favorite. I have recommended this place to our friends in California, too. read more

I prefer this place over any Santiagos! I live in Greeley bit traveling a little doesn't hurt when I want some good Mexican food. The place is small and cozy, perfect for some family time. I never had a bad experience there and the food is super delicious! read more

This place is very good, I can't believe I hadn't tried it till now, chili rellano was excellent, waitress was very nice & food came out quickly. Also very affordable, enchilada plate was like $7.50 I think, I definitely liked the green chili better than the red sauce read more

We went there for lunch. Having eaten at some of their other locations we knew the food. After waiting a hour and a half for our food only to leave. If it had been packed full of people I might have been more understanding but with only 5 tables, the staff standind around shooting the breeze and three tables comming in after us and getting their food long before us and leaving. This is my favorite Santiago's location but last night it was simply bad in several areas. It was crowded when we came in around 6:20pm but then it cleared out. We waited an unreal amount of time for two burrito's, almost 30 minutes I would guess. Then when it finally arrived it would seem they were running low on toppings as mine had almost no cheese on it and the green chile tasted watery to us. The chicken inside had the texture of soup almost as it was soggy and seemed like it just came out of a blender or something. Wow what a bad experience in here on this night, don't think we will be rushing back any time soon again as a result. read more

Had a very nice lunch of tamales with mild sauce and the usual rice and beans. The food was well prepared, served hot and came in a timely manner. I asked for mile from the choices of mild, hot or mixed. The sauce was very tasty, not just another application of routine salsa. When I want some good Mexican food I head to Santiago's. The Johnstown location has great people and super cooks. The place is homey, friendly, inexpensive and GOOD. One caution....ask your server how hot the green chile is that day. They will provide any depth of burn that you'd like from mild to hot. Half and Half is usually a good compromise. Our first time here and it was fabulous! Ordered the stuffed sopapillo with ground beef, smothered and topped. I can honestly say it's the best stuffed sopapilla I've eaten in my life! The dough of the sopapilla was perfect: light (not heavy) and with a slightly sweet taste and it was freshly made. The ground beef was freshly cooked and tasty. The green chili was wonderful. I ordered the "half-and-half" because I don't like my chili too hot or too mild. Service was fast. The restaurant was clean. We're going back!
