I'd had an extremely long travel day with diversions and delays so didn't make it to Ft. Collins until nearly midnight. I didn't want fast food so gave Almansita's a try since they were open so late. They are in a strip mall and the restaurant is well lit, which was a positive factor for me that late at night. The young woman working the counter was very friendly and helpful. The front windows and decor that is very high up in the restaurant could use some attention but otherwise the restaurant was clean and comfortable. The food itself was good and the environment relaxed enough for me to decompress after the day I'd had. read more

We had the breakfast burritos which were large and filling, but taste-wise just okay. The eggs were really crumbled and soaked in bacon fat, but there wasn't much actual bacon, and at $10 each it's not exactly a cheap breakfast either. read more

My girlfriend and I came in for dinner. She had the chimichanga plate. She loved it. I ordered the steak taco plate. I have to say everything was extremely delicious. The portions were perfect. Sometimes the my don't pick up their phone late in the evening but it's still my go to late night Mexican food spot. The regular burritos are like a big taco so don't expect more than meat onions and cilantro... but that also means you get more meat. Pretty solid overall. Favorite drunk meal. read more

You'll regret coming here. Bad tasting food. Rude cashiers. Ordered Carne Asada fries and they were cold and dry. Ordered their California Burrito, and it was made so sloppy. The burrito was loose, poorly wrapped, and it wasn't even filled up. It's like they didn't even try, which makes sense because the workers are terrible. The people there are so rude, I never feel welcome when I step into the restaurant. They act like you're bothering them while they're taking your order, like they're trying to hurry up and get it over with. It's like they only give good customer service to other Hispanics. If you're not Mexican, expect to be treated poorly and rudely. Tables are dirty. Bathroom is dirty. I wouldn't be surprised if the health department came through there and shut everything down. read more

I was skeptical reading all the good reviews -- I had all but given up on ever finding good Mexican (from this born-in-California gal's perspective) food in Fort Collins. It didn't help that Almansita's opened up in a strange little strip mall "satellite" where various restaurants and shops save for a major pizza chain have never done well ... even the major pizza chain recently closed and has been replaced by a quirky local joint. But I digress. Almansita's is legit. I first tried them for takeout in the spring, when most everything was still shut down for COVID. I ordered the chile relleno plate. The woman taking my order warned me that they used an egg batter. Um, yes? I see no problem there - that is how they are supposed to be. Not only were the chile rellenos delicious with their perfectly crisp, airy fried egg white batter, but even the beans and rice were well seasoned and tasty. Thank goodness, because both the red and green chile sauces provided with my order were far too fiery for my tastebuds, so I would not have been able to use them if I found anything bland. It was an enormous amount of food -- easily 2-3 meals for me. On my next visit I went the ala carte route, just getting a taco and a side of beans. The tacos here are larger than typical "street tacos," so I found one to be sufficient for me. Cheap, tasty, and satisfying. I've also tried the carne asada fries -- they're positioned as a California thing (featured in the California burrito), but I can't say that I recognize this from my childhood ... maybe I am just old? In any case, they're a nice alternative to nachos and a great appetizer to share. I have yet to eat in the restaurant - it's pretty small, with just a few tables - but am glad to have the kind of Mexican food I grew up with available in the community. I will happily get my take-out from Almansita's when I have a hankering for Mexican food. read more

Ordered Almansita's for delivery via NocoNosh around 3:00pm and had an approximate delivery time of 3:50pm. Food arrived promptly around 3:35pm. We ordered tripas, adobada, carnitas and barbacoa tacos all priced around $3.00. We were expecting small street tacos but we were pleasantly surprised with full size tacos filled to the brim. We also ordered taquitos, chips and salsa (labeled nachos and salsa on the menu) and a smothered green Chile lengua burrito. They provided a variety of salsas, napkins, utensils and lime wedges. Everything was delicious, arrived warm and portion sizes were huge! Glad we tried this place and look forward to ordering from them again! read more

Reasonable prices, spicy food and sauces, music in Spanish and fun Mayan-ish decorations. Loved the huge bacon (a little fatty but super flavorful), egg, cheese and hash brown potato breakfast burrito ($8.50) and the wide range of bottled Jarrito's soda pop -- considered Mandarin but chose Guava this time ($3) and of course they offer fountain drinks, some canned sodas and iced tea. The fish taco contained a breaded fish stick with tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato, and diced onion ($4), similar to Taco John's fish taco. Not bad but not Baja style. Restrooms were clean and have grab bars. Lots of take out while we were there, and construction workers and police officers were much in evidence. We will definitely be back. read more

I decided to try the Fort Collins location of Almansita's back in July, August, & November of 2023. When I lived in Greeley, I had its location quite a bit. Even though I liked the food, I found the area sketchy. I also thought the service and dining interior could have been improved. However, this location is better. I think the food is even better. I like the authentic tacos and burritos this place serves. The meat portions are fantastic, and I love the homemade flour tortillas on the burritos. I think the lengua is done really well here. I think the shredded beef enchiladas and pork tamales to be quite good as well. The rice and beans could be improved, but it's still tasty. The service here is better, and the cashiers have an easier time understanding English speakers. The dining room is an immense upgrade, with pretty aesthetics and clean tables. This is the superior Almansita's location, and I'd recommend trying the Fort Collins location. read more

Closest thing to west coast Mexican we've found. Food is delicious, hot and abundant. Prices are fair. It's worth the drive (from Windsor). Carne asada nachos are great. Meat is tender and seasoned well. Carnitas burrito is a good size, full of carnitas meat, pico and guacamole. This is my splurge. read more

It's pretty good and reasonably priced. But most of the food is just that, pretty good. It's a good step above Taco Bell but it's not amazing. One thing that does shine though are the Lengua tacos, not something you find everyday and very tasty. The quesadilla was a bit bland. As soon as I waked into Almansita's I knew I was home. It's just like East County. If you're not from there, you wouldn't get it. Almansita's is a taste of home. I've been in NoCo 15 years and have never been able to find anyplace that can make So Cal Mex until now. I just had the Machaca Burrito. Again, just like home. Dense, filling and, the flavors are spot on. The hot sauce is "muy bueno" as well. I've only been able to walk into one other mexican shop in this area and have them actually know what Machaca is.
