Then I retired and in September of 2024, I made it my full-time home base. Over the past summer, I traveled more than 12,000 miles, visiting 53 RV parks along the way. I can honestly say that Phoenix RV Park is the best park I stayed in all summer. The streets are paved, and the sites are concrete. There is a patch of green grass between the sites along with trees, shrubbery, and foliage. Although I was gone at the time, I understand there was a problem with the irrigation system this past summer. However, when I returned in October, the grass at my site was still green, and it was obvious, from the work I could see going on, that the park was putting a significant amount of money into getting the system upgraded and repaired. The grounds are well maintained. Phoenix RV Park has cleanest laundry facilities I used all summer, including many public laundromats. In addition, there are three small dog parks, restrooms with showers, a workout/meeting room, a small store with RV essentials, a huge DVD library and even a gathering room with a full kitchen that is available with prior arrangements. You can tell that a great deal of effort is put into providing a welcoming environment for the residents. I understand that there may be plans in the works to make it even more "homey" for those of us who call it home. Melanie (the manager) and Rob (all around maintenance guy) run the park well. Melanie has always been friendly, helpful, and cooperative, and has gone out of her way to provide me with reasonable requests. From the research I did, Phoenix RV Park is, at the very least, competitively priced, and is lower than many other RV Parks in the northern Willamette Valley. I've made some meaningful friendships in the time I've been here. Overall, I'd recommend Phoenix RV Park all day long. It's a place to put down some of your roots and stay a while.

We were looking for something long term, and when I called we lucked out and they had a space. Now let's get into the details. I explained the size of our trailer and truck, they said we would fit. We got to the park and we were pleasantly surprised in the beginning because it was pretty, a pretty parking lot but pretty. Our site was back in, and we barely fit. They "oversaw" our parking, kept telling us we could move over (if we moved over more our slide out would have been in their bushes). The man who was overseeing our parking also insisted that I was not leveling our trailer properly and that their cement slabs were perfectly even, ours was not. They didn't want us to back up closer to the fence so there was room for movement, but other trailers were. The space next to our trailer consisted of a parking space, which with our trailer and our truck, we had barely room to walk in between the two, so no space. Then there was the grass, oh the grass. Each sight has strip of grass, which they do NOT want you to walk on, or your dogs to walk on, or anything. Now, I refer you back our truck barely fit in the space, so of course we had to walk on the grass to get into the truck, and we receive admonishing emails for it. Any open grass was also not for dogs. They had mini dog spaces at the end of the park, covered in wood chips, our dogs seemed oddly nervous to go in there, and due to the dog virus going around this time, we had to drive our dogs out of the park to potty them. There were a few gunshots while were there for the 30 days, we heard them, however, they do have security that drives around the park at night so that was nice. They are backed up against a Safeway, and if you have those spaces they reverberate all night as the trucks come in. They have other pull through spaces supposedly for temporary and one night guests, but there were long term guests there as well. Ultimately, this park is stellar if you want a pretty , well manicured park, that you do not want to meet your neighbors, have an outside environment and you have small dogs. If you want a neighborhood feel, with space for your dogs, and space for you, I would steer clear. Laundry room was stellar. Water pressure was mediocre.

Initially, we only booked…read morefor 2 nights on our way to Salem, but because we liked it so much, so we called to add another night during our stay, but we didn't know we needed to get our bathhouse cards reprogrammed. Hence, the cards lost their function on our third night stay when we got back from our adventure and it was late, so the front office was closed. ( it was like almost 10 pm) When I called the emergency number, Tyler, the service gentleman on duty was very polite and helpful, he met me and my family at the bathhouse a few minutes later, with one of the maintenance cards for us to use. He truly showed us the meaning of hospitality. We loved how clean the resort was: it was the first resort we ever stayed having workers out cutting grasses and watering plants. The roses were beautiful! We loved the swimming pool & hot tub, as well the walking trails and rivers nearby. The water quality and pressure in the shower room was excellent! (This has been a problem for me in all the RV parks we had stayed in the past) Overall, the experience with Premier RV Resort has been the best we have had! ( we have done quite a few years of RV traveling!) Tonight, we are staying in their Lincoln city location, hoping it would be a great experience, too!

This last year we experienced some homophobic behavior from another guest and the employees at Salem premier RV made sure to let us know they do not condone that behavior and they helped us out of a sticky situation. My room was far larger than expected, and was very well-equipped. In addition to all the standards (in-room refrigerator, microwave, etc.) was a white noise (and others) machine to assist with sleep (one minor gripe is that the sound isolation between rooms isn't terribly great), and a wall-mounted thermostat for the air conditioner and heat. One very thoughtful touch was two bottles of water, free of charge, already in my room upon arrival. Staff was incredibly helpful, professional, and friendly. My room was immaculate, and there were no signs of wear on anything nor neglected repairs. Complimentary breakfast was better than most. The mains also vary from day to day. There is a separate waffle station from the main hot dishes, and it features pastries that were far better than most, which was a really pleasant surprise. The covered parking garage is TIGHT, and is shared with the in-hotel restaurant (Bentley's), and the Salem Convention Center, so it can get crowded. There are two "Blink" EV charging stations, which is appreciated.

After a booking error on our end, the hotel was able to get us a room for Thursday. We thought we had reserved a room for Thursday through Monday. So it was a huge relief to get that worked out. We did have to move rooms Friday, but that's not the hotel's fault. As an EVS worker for a large hospital, I tend to check everything. From high dust to floors and everything in between. I can tell that the employees take pride in their work. So kudos to the Housekeeping staff. Also, to the Housekeeper who found something we had left behind and returned in to us, you're awesome. I wish I had gotten your name. Thank you. Now to the front desk. Monica. Monica, you were always kind, eager to help, and an employee that every establishment desires to have. I know it had to be a crazy weekend due to the college graduations, but you rose to the top and did it with a smile. Thank you. Now the restaurant staff. You all are awesome too. After a couple of disappointing dinners at local restaurants, we decided to have dinner at the hotel. Delicious. The staff was friendly, professional, and our meals were great. Thank you. The views from the rooftop are gorgeous. Parking isn't bad. The rooms are clean. The property is clean. The staff are amazing. Although we no longer have kids in Oregon (two of our kids graduated from Oregon State University) we love Independence and we love the Independence Hotel.

The rooms are in the modern style. The bathroom door is on tracks and slides in front of the bathroom. So not a real door. No sound is contained by it. It has that frosted glass type stuff so any light goes right through. The light is motion activated. So bring some painters tape to cover it at night. And the comments about the bed frame being a toe stubber are very true. Probably the worst bedframe I have seen. The roof top patio was nice, though after dark the bugs take over. You can totally walk down to the water, there are like rock beaches if you know what I mean. So bring a chair and put your feet in. now the bad. We booked one of the suites. The girl at checkin mentioned the hot tub, which you apparently reserve or something. Not sure what that is about. Anyway, I asked if there were any other amenities I should know about, she said no. No mention of the rooftop patio or anything else. That was strike one. We opened the door to the room... it smelled like gas. Like really strong. We opened the door to the patio, and looked around to see if it would dissipate before reporting it. The room felt very claustrophobic. It wasn't bad, but it just felt tight. We went downstairs to report the gas and she tried to tell me it was totally normal and safe. I was astounded. She clearly wasn't trying to pull one over on me or anything she just doesn't have much critical thinking. Apparently the maintenance guy leaves at 4. She said he said it was safe. I asked what his credentials were... she stared blankly at me. I mentioned did a profession service confirm this? She goes in the back to supposedly call him. Comes out and says yeah, some company I forget the name of... I call BS. She was also the only person on staff other than the restaurant staff. So we switched to a two queen bed room, which is what my comments above describe. It was actually nicer feeling than the suite. Not so claustrophobic. I will point out that at no time did she offer anything. And I didn't ask. I don't need a discount, I needed a place to stay. When we went to eat at the restaurant later, they were severely understaffed. It wasn't all that busy, maybe 8 or 9 tables occupied. But there were at least 7 with dishes on them. As far as I could tell, there was only one waitstaff. I assume a cook. And there was a bartender. That was it. The food... well, I order fish and chips. Those were the smallest 2 fish sticks I have seen served as fish and chips. They were fine, but at that size, should have been three. Cook was probably overworked and didn't even notice. All in all, I would avoid this place. Seems like either it is running paper thin on money, so not having enough staff, or it is trying to extract as much money as it can while providing the min in services. The return of the decent breakfast implies it probably is not making enough money, which probably means the service and such will get worse over time.

Rooms were clean although maybe in need of a touch of updating. No noise from neighbors. Didn't access the back patio bc of uncooperative weather, but seems like would be a nice place to hang out in warmer/drier seasons. The lodge serves lunch and dinner and we noticed live music on Thursday nite -- and a happy hour that starts at 9pm. Free breakfast buffet (with a gorgeous view and friendly waitstaff) and access to the Oregon Garden were great bonuses! Really not too far away from downtown Silverton and a nice spot for peace and quiet and quality time with your hunny bunny.

While staff were friendly, the two places to eat here share the same kitchen staffed by people who can't cook. I ordered salmon. It actually looked good, but had been so severely over-salted that it was inedible. You couldn't even taste fish or balsamic glaze. My son ordered marionberry pie, but that just tasted like sugar. No berry flavor. No tartness. Just. Sugar. I figured I'd eat at the buffet in the morning. WRONG. The eggs were some kind of instant egg scramble--rubbery and dry. The sausage? Subpar. They had Greek yogurt, but it was very grainy looking. The ONLY redeeming feature was the drinkable coffee. It wasn't anything special, just a go-hum medium roast tasting of generic coffee. But it was nice to enjoy a couple hot cups on the patio.

My family and I have been renters at Vista Manor for almost 3 years…read more Elizabeth is an amazing owner/operator. She is attentive and has created a very home away from atmosphere. I feel very safe in her home. There are personal care, dishes, and some food supplies in case you need, want or have forgotten an item. There is a guest cottage with a kitchen and 4 other bedrooms, two that have their own bathrooms. The home is set back from the road and is set on an acre. It is very quiet. The property is beautifully maintained. The pool and hot tub are available, but we never used them. My favorite amenity is the beautiful view out of every window that has ducks, a fat bunny, chickens and many varieties of birds. I will not be in Salem a dozen times a year anymore, but this will always be my Salem Home when I do visit. Thank You!

This was my favorite part of Riverfront Park, thanks to my kiddo. She rode on her first carousel a…read moreweek before visiting here and she loved it so when my best friend mentioned that Salem had a carousel (why??) we decided to come check it out. The carousel is indoors so that's a nice perk when it's cold or rainy. It's a large carousel with different animals as well as some benches, and they're adding others soon--including a U of O themed duck. The rides are pretty inexpensive at $2 each; you'll buy tokens at the gift shop. (They only take cards with a minimum $5 purchase.) Alternatively, you can pay $15 for unlimited rides for the day. The gift shop has lots of stuff... except t-shirts, which they were out of the day we came in and that was a bummer since I'd wanted to get one for the little one. There are indoor toilets here (yay) and they have some vendors--at least, there as a cotton candy vendor here when we visited. They also rent the space out and there was a nice private room off to the side of the carousel. There's lots of parking here since it's part of the overall Riverfront Park.

When I walked in, the cashier promptly stood up, but I was trying to pull up the photo of my berry pass so I waited off to the side. A woman paid and I overheard the cashier mention that she needs the physical berry pass so I scooted behind the person who was in line next since I no longer had to find the photo on my phone. The people who came into the shop created a fork in the line, so I let them go in front of me because I was the one who caused the confusion. After they paid, the cashier would not accept that I was waiting in line, however, the woman she tried to help told me to go. The cashier scoffed when I came up to the counter. Then she was very abrupt with my sale, and as I was leaving I heard her tell the woman who let me go, "that was very kind of you." I turned around and said, "I've literally been waiting in line" to which the woman said, "I know you have." but the cashier wouldn't even look at me. It was not a great experience for me. Thankfully my daughter was oblivious to the encounter and enjoyed the ride itself.
