I don't know if I've ever used the front door. Sinatra style music, intimate booths and tables, dark wood, beautiful bar, waitresses and staff who are friendly and efficient. You can actually have an intimate conversation. We usually get the dinner for 2 for $89.99. Choice of salmon, New York steak or prime rib. Comes with a glass of house wine, shrimp cocktail (spicy sauce), soup or salad, choice of green beans (house specialty) or brown beans, potato (mashed, fries, or baked) or pilaf and your entree. The horseradish is served with zip not a watered down version you get sometimes ask for au jus it's so good. The bus boys refill your water glasses and remove plates quickly. The wonderful waitresses check in "All good? Do you want another glass of...?" The owner will come by and ask you how's your dinner and chit chat. Old fashion proprietor hospitality that we don't see enough any more. The original owner, Richard S did this as well and I love that his grandson carries on the tradition. Sit at the bar, either before or afterwards, hopefully Leeann will be bartending and have a well made drink, watch TV (not blaring) and just relax. I understand and respect their history, but that is not an excuse for them to continue to live in the past. There was a security guard at the entrance (FYI the entrance is in the back, so upon entering you are immediately greeted by the restrooms and the doors that show off the kitchen work space. If someone messed with my car, which was out of sight slightly around the corner of the building close to Belmont, would he have noticed or cared? The interior has some nice paintings of bare chested ladies. As a champion for women, it seemed a little extreme that in my sight i could see 6 titties, but as a man, excluding my champion for women title, I thought it was great. However, being with my mom and my woman made this dichotomy even more perplexing. The strangest part of all of this was when I went in the men's restroom there wasn't another topless woman painting. Instead it was some old dude. Wth? That's when I relaized it was like the rest of the experience here - unique, a bit outdated, and all over the place. Extremely disappointed with our experience ordering eggless cakes from this bakery…read more We ordered two cakes for a special occasion and prepaid for both on May 15. The first cake was picked up on May 16 and the second on May 18. Unfortunately, both had the exact same issue -- the inside was severely underbaked and raw like dough. The only reason we even picked up the second cake was because it had already been prepaid. Otherwise, after seeing the condition of the first cake, we would never have ordered another one from this bakery. We paid around $102 total and ended up throwing most of the cakes away because nobody was comfortable eating uncooked cake batter. This is not just disappointing quality, but also a potential health concern. The most frustrating part is that we had previously ordered an eggless cake from this bakery and it was perfectly fine, which is why we trusted them again for an important occasion. We specifically requested whipping cream frosting as well. The red and white strawberry cake did not even include proper whipping cream as requested. The second cake at least had the frosting, but the cake itself still had the same raw dough issue. We tried addressing these issues directly with the bakery first, but the concerns were never properly acknowledged or resolved. Eggless cakes can absolutely be made properly, so if the bakery is unable to consistently prepare them correctly, these orders should not have been accepted in the first place. I have photos clearly showing the raw interior of both cakes. Very disappointing experience, especially for an expensive special occasion order. Update after owner response: I want to clarify that the main issue was NEVER melted frosting from travel. We only requested early pickup because we had plans afterward and could not pick up later in the day. The bakery is now bringing up a "6-hour trip," which was never the issue we complained about. We also never complained about the butterscotch frosting choice. The complaint from the beginning has been about the inside of BOTH cakes being severely underbaked/raw, as clearly shown in the photos. The response avoids addressing the actual issue shown in the pictures. Eggless cakes may have a different texture, but raw dough-like interiors in two separate cakes ordered days apart is not normal.
