So i am a bit confused about the photos here, because there is an actual restaurant looking place,…read moresome little cart and a food truck. Hopefully they are all related. My review is based on the food truck. It was my son's birthday. He was allowed to chose anything he wanted for dinner. Any price point... anything. Well i had seen this on Instagram and shared it with him two weeks prior. At first he wanted to go to Nobu or there were a few other high end options, but that is not his style honestly. Luckily, he remembered the post that I shared. He wanted to go here. Well, buckle up kids, we are going on a field trip! We left work/schools early and took a drive to Compton. When our navigation said we had arrived it suggested we park in the lot across from the library. Ok. There directly in front of the library was the food truck. There was a small line, so that was ideal. Not a long wait. My other smaller human and i went to wash their hands in the library. When i came out he had ordered the hungry man or something. It was more than enough for us. The oxtail was good. The ribs were good. The chicken was good. The cornbread was yummy. Just not over the moon for the greens... and i loooove collard greens. But that's ok. We went for the meats. They were out of the dinosaur ribs, so maybe if we go early enough next time, we can try those. We took it across the street to the park and ate and that was enough time for the small one to also play to get energy out before we headed home. The drive home was long, now that rush hour traffic had started. But none of us complained, because the meal was worth it.

We tasted each of tamales That everyone bought and we all voted for the 7 dollar each tamale! ( 5 dollars would of been more the price point I would expect for upscale tamales when you get get some for 2 bucks)As pricey as they were for tamales, it was the perfect bite with the masa and meat combination. I don't like when lots of masa and barely any stuffing. These tamales were made very well, masa was moist and the insides were well season. Super tasty! Wish it was spicier but I like my food spicy, just a preference. A must try if you have the money to splurge

The tamales were 6 for $40 ($7 for one) with a choice of three kinds. I wish the mole ones were offered but I'll have to get them another time. Duck mole tamales! The tamales were moist and soft (but not mushy). The layer of masa was thin and there was plenty of well-seasoned meat. The meat wasn't dry either. And the tamales came with various toppings (cheese, salsa, crema). You could tell that the tamales were made with love. They're also free of pork lard. The woman behind the pop-up, Yunia Fumes Mata, works at Bestia, one of the best restaurants in LA.

First and foremost, the Chef Series is a showstopper! The chefs are absolute magicians in the kitchen, and you can genuinely feel the love and passion they put into their creations. Every dish was a work of art, and each bite was a burst of flavors that took my taste buds on a wild adventure. The service was as friendly as can be! They made you feel right at home and did a fantastic job with the dishes and pairing the drinks. But what really sets this place apart is their pre-dinner mingling and during dinner they have giveaways. It's like a little dinner party before the main event! The cherry on top? The chef explaining each dish that paired with the drink before it's served. It's like a sneak peek behind the culinary curtain, and it adds a whole new level of appreciation for what you're about to devour.
