I had an amazing time at Sapphire Salon. The overall space is quite clean, peaceful, and has friendly team members. From start to finish, my time at the salon was great, and I will definitely be back soon. I'm not someone who does anything particularly unique with my nails, so when I was looking for a new spot in the neighborhood, their pricing of $25 for a regular polish manicure was already an amazing deal to me. I spent time with Mogi who was super attentive to ensuring that my nails were cut, cleaned, and polished to perfection. I've definitely seen variations in polishing practice in a variety of salons, and they do ensure that you have a base, two layers of polish and a top coat before adding drops and drying extensively. She even checked them for me before I left to ensure they didn't smudge. I'm particular about chairs too, and you have enough space to relax and not feel uncomfortable while having your service. Terrible experience. I had a classic no chip pedicure with Lara who was unpleasant from the moment I sat down. She made several rude comments about the condition of my nails, was demeaning when I asked how to turn on the massage chair that didn't work the duration of the appointment, never inquired on the water temperature which remained cold, and didn't say "thank you," but instead simply walked away without a single word after I scanned her Venmo code to leave a tip even though the service was incredibly unsatisfactory. I've loved coming here since they've opened right down the street from me. It's their second location, first being over in Boystown. Everyone does a great job and is super friendly, and have been socially distancing and clean/sterile. They Always have new OPI colors, and my nails last can last up to 3-4 weeks with No Chip! Of course they offer gel and regular mani/pedis, too. (No acrylics. Ew) Best part is I get to turn my phone off for an hour or so, and enjoy fun music videos with my LaCroix. Writing this review for the Broadway location. I called to make a reservation for four for mani/pedis and they were happy to accommodate us. Love the byob. Love the feel of the place inside. Overall I would absolutely recommend. That said, there are some notes I would make. My pedicure, and my pedicure only, left a bit to be desired. Everyone else was happy with theirs, but I felt like mine was only like half my foot. My nail tech only used the buffer and file on part of my foot, so when I left I still felt like my feet didn't look their best. I don't think they were horrible to begin with? Willing to admit I could be biased. But when I pay for a pedicure I assume my whole foot will be smoothed out and buffed. My manicure was great though; nails were shaped nicely, equipment was clean, polish selection was great and I had no trouble finding something to use. The prices are also very competitive which is why I hesitated to complain. But I feel like when you leave a pedicure you shouldn't still have little loose skin spots just from normal walking. read more

I have been a weekly consumer at this salon. Angela is my manicurist/pedicurist. She has been a god send for my much less than good nails. She can do fill ins and replacement nails which have saved me on many occasions. The salon has an enhanced ability to do almost everything including designs of every type They have an extensive video collection and you can ask them to change or modify their selections The salon is very welcoming. it has a variety of clientele, both female and male and of other persuasions.it is not loud or too busy with other persons being distracting or obnoxious. They don't have a lot of current magazines, but they do have an extensive library of books that you can read. I love Sapphire! I found their Halsted location on Yelp three years ago when I first moved to the city. I was very sad to leave them when I left Boystown and I am SO GLAD they opened this location! Every staff member puts so much time and care into the experience, from grooming the cuticles until they are perfect to giving a full leg and foot massage with a normal pedicure. And, every pedicure I've ever had here has literally never chipped!! I've had a normal pedicure last 3 months in perfect condition (thanks, quarantine). The staff was very friendly and nice, although it took 2 hours for a simple manicure and it felt as if the staff had never done nails before. They had very limited color options, every time we picked one they had to check and then said they didn't have it. They had only one set of the base, top coat, and activator for the dip and kept switching between me and my roommate. Overall, I couldn't go back. Maybe it was an off day, but a dip manicure should take that long. The nails look okay but even after a week they're peeling at the edge when they usually last me 3-4 weeks. read more

I've been here twice and I'll never be back. The first time I got a pedicure, skimpy color selection and under thirty minutes from start to finish. Not terrible but I wouldn't say it was great either. The second time I came in to do a gel removal. Big mistake. I was a walk-in and they said they could fit me in. The woman who was working with me filed the tops, put the acetone on and wrapped them up in foil. Waited no less than 5 minutes before she tried to remove them. She took a metal tool and instead of gently pushing the gel off my nails, she started digging, filing again and then even trying to rip the gel off. I was horrified but I knew it was too late and my once beautiful nails were completely ruined. They're now, weak, bendy and starting to rip and I'm furious. There was no way she didn't know she was being completely violent in attempting to take the gels off. If they didn't have time for a walk-in gel removal, they could have communicated that. Instead, I'm left with brittle, damaged nails. The only good thing about them is they turned me on to the nail artist next door. I'll never darken their doorstep again. read more

I wrote a review about the Sapphire on Halsted but now that this one opened and is closer to my house, this is where I go and it's just as great, if not better!! (jk they're both the same because it's all the same employees and they're all really great. except this one is decorated a little cooler). They're really professional, and all so nice and my no chip manicures last like 3 weeks which is super rare for me because i pick at my nails alot. The color selection is always on point, and i love watching the weird music videos they have on the tvs, somehow they always choose the most interesting ones. Also, they should REALLY sell their tiedye shirts I see some of their employees wearing, i think they're so cool! ALSO - i love that you can tip them on venmo, it boils my blood when places only accept cash tips and i have to decide whether to walk down the street to an ATM or sprint out as fast as I can and never return. My gel manicure was as thin as a normal manicure....and was ruined within 3 days. More upsetting was the fact that they soaked off my dip nails by sticking my hand in a bowl of pure acetone....It is much better to take nails like that off by individually wrapping them so your fingers don't get so irritated by the acetone. It was uncomfortable. The pedicure chairs are way close to the bowl for people with long legs, and if I remember correctly, I don't think they reclined. I am in love with Sapphire Nails and all of the people that work there. Ann and Ashley are the wind beneath my nail beds, they don't prefer you request people but I can't help myself. Called a week ahead to accommodate pedicures for 4 males to be done at the same time. We Arrived on time and all 4 of us were placed in foot soak at the same time. However, two of us were worked on right away with individual techs. Another tech jumped between the third friend 15 minutes late and then started on me 25min late. Not only was two of our times cut short to catch up to my other friends who started before and had individual techs, we all ended at different times as well. Not to mention there was only one paraffin so it made for awkward experience with waiting even longer. We all got the spa pedicures at 55 each and it was a waste of money. The products used are cheap off Amazon and no benefits other than makeing your feet smell like a watermelon. Calf foot massage was half assed as I stated earlier due to the tech being late and trying to jump betweeen clients. We are males and opted for no nail painting so can't review on that but as far as the pedicure itself, it does not actually address foot issues, ie we all left with calluses still. They are better more effective and cheaper pedicures in the city. This place is for show and ig but not good service. read more
