The pedicure was fine but why do don't one of the other staff do the manicure at same time --same tech did both and it took forever. Frustrating since other staff were doing nothing just walking around, on their phones. I went in to get a gel (no chip) manicure and it went fine. But the issue was when I went for a removal. The nail tech just went in with just the drill, she did not soak the nails beforehand. I was unsure of this process since every other salon that I've gotten a gel manicure/ removal in, they always pre soak before filing or drilling off. I am regretting not saying something during it. The process was painful and has ruined my nails- they are thin, rough, and breaking in multiple places. I have had to cut and file them down so they do not get snagged and break even more. I have very strong nails and never have had this issue before (and only get gel manicures a few times a year for special occasions). I am not coming back. read more

I was appreciative that they were able to get me in same day and liked the space. However the women who did my mani/pedi did not seem too invested and said one thing the whole time which is totally fine, but both my mani and pedi chipped that same day. I waited about 20 minutes to let them dry as she didn't tell me anything after she finished. I also didn't like that there was no clear menu so I was surprised at the cost for a simple mani/pedi especially with it chipping that same day. For reference, the color on my feet is what I wanted, but when I found the "matching" example in the no chip booklet, this is how my nails turned out. A dark, shimmery turquoise. This place is nice looking and the staff seem friendly but not very qualified. The woman doing my nails seemed like she was rushing. We got there at 6:30 and when we left at 7:50 they were already taking the trash out. They made our friend start early because she got there a few minutes before us so she was done 20 minutes before me and my other friend were. Aside from that, you can see the layers of the polish. Attention to detail wasn't their strong suite which is a bummer for the price. I will also say that the woman doing my nails cut me with the nail file. I winced and said ow and even said "I'm bleeding" and she seemed to not hear or ignore me because she did it again and cut me deeper. Only after I winced and said ow the second time did she look. The friend I was with said this woman cut her last time she was there too so it must just be that technician. Im honestly not impressed. There are better places in the city to get to nails done for cheaper or the same price with a better outcome. My pals and I loved our experience at Couture Nails last month! We booked an appointment through Yelp. Communications were super easy & efficient. We got there and immediately felt relaxed. The space is bright and inviting- it's not overly fancy, but cute enough to make being there feel like a self-care treat. We each got a different combo of mani-pedis, some of us no-chip and some regular, and we were all pleased with the results. The staff were kind & polite and did quality work. I love that this is right in the middle of busy Southport- there's so much to do around the salon, so I recommend shopping and dining before/after visiting Couture! Only been here for 2 pedicures which were relaxing and lasted me months. Love that it's byob, place is beautiful, and clean. 1 star for bare minimum. Again, been here a few times, front desk has always been a bit standoff-ish and unwelcoming but the nail techs are friendly. I usually go somewhere else for manis as I like getting designs and such and love my mani nail tech, but I wanted to give my nails a break and keep them short for a few months. I live close, just needed a regular salon. I booked an appt for a regular mani, told them I had no chip on and needed those removed and they told me it's no problem. (spoiler alert - it was a problem) I've gotten no chip removed a countless number of times. The way that they had done it is definitely not what you're supposed to do. They were unmistakably not equipped to be doing no chip removals nor acrylic removals at that. The removal was very painful and extremely damaging. From previous reviews, it looks like they're aware of it and yet, still continue to book them. And they charged me extra for the removal. Lol. Unless things change, I would only recommend this place for a pedicure. read more

I am a person who hates the actual feeling of getting my finger nails done in general , but agreed to Join my friend here and it was ok- I survived and I now have cute nails. It's a nice spot! I came here on Thursday to treat myself to a manicure and pedicure after a long week. I noticed right away how not only swanky the place is (long velvet bench with pillows, big flat screen TV embedded in the wall for entertainment) but it's clean! I mean spotless! So spotless it sparkles! I'm not even kidding. I love the fact that they line the pedicure bowl with plastic bags and dispose it after your service so it's always clean. I had Nubia do my pedicure and she was good! She seemed very knowledgeable on nails and through. She got my feet super soft which in this weather has been a challenge! My mani was decent (it was just a clean up job so I can't rate polish or anything) and I may just skip this service and go for a basic pedi. All in all, I will return. Overall, 55.00 on mani and pedi (followed by a no chip take off). read more

I can't believe how underwhelming my pedicure was. Zero to no foot or calf massage. Polish was applied neatly, but let's be real, I can do that at home. You come to a nail salon for the experience - especially with a pedicure. They do have a "detox pedicure" and perhaps that's what I should have asked for. There was a couple next to me who had a mud mask, hot wax treatment, extensive foot and calf massage - even a neck and shoulder massage while they were drying. I will head to Pinky's from now on - at least they have massage chairs. read more

I started going to Couture because I now live right across the street. Couture is a rare nail salon that actually sticks to their appointment schedule which gives you piece of mind. I once made a reservation down the street at Pinky Nail because they are a couple dollars cheaper and I had to leave because they had no one to work on me - I then went down the street to see if Couture could take me as a walk in and they could. I came here for a no-chip removal and was super impressed with both the interior and the quality! First thing to know: this spot is appointments only. Even for just a no-chip removal, I called ahead and was glad I did! Second thing: WOW this nail spot is gorgeous. From the blue velvet chairs to the bright white walls and counters, Couture Nails nailed the millennial aesthetic. And their quality seemed to match the high quality interior. My $10 no-chip removal included a warm towel, filing, AND cuticle oil. I was seriously impressed, compared to what I've received at other places for the same price. I'm a bit of a stickler with shaping, and a couple of my nails were a bit crooked. So I won't necessarily be rushing back for a full manicure, but for any last-minute, simpler needs, I will definitely keep Couture Nails in mind! read more

Been here for pedi's and loved them! Unfortunately, mani's I would definitely not recommend -- especially if you have acrylics/no-chip on and want them removed. The nail techs clearly did not know how to remove my no chip or acrylic nails. They did not have the necessary tools either. They used a nail file to remove all of them on all of my nails, which was not only painful but damaged the health of my nails entirely. I tend to my nails pretty well and like to keep them long - after my visit, my nails are now extremely brittle and have been breaking off pieces everyday. It will definitely be a few months before they completely heal and return to their previous strength. It is discomforting because I know you want to take clients, but at least be honest about not knowing and not having the right tools to remove no-chip and acrylic nails. read more

I really really wanted to like this place. Ambiance is great, especially if you are getting a pedicure as you sit on royal blue plush benches. They offer you wine glasses, even if you only bring in a sparkling water! That being said, the service I have received there has been underwhelming or bad each time I go. I am by no means a perfectionist beauty fashionista, nor do I really know how to do my own nails well. But twice when I've gone, the nail tech hasn't really filed my nails evenly. Even when I spoke up about it, she continued to file them noticeably uneven. I brushed it off because my no chip lasted awhile after I left. Last time I went back I got a pedicure. I asked them to try their best to help my rough heels, as I've been walking a lot this summer. I noticed no change after I got home. It was like I never got a pedicure, except my nails were painted and cut. Now that it's been a week or two, my cuticles are actually painful. Not sure I would recommend anymore, since the second time I came here it was a hard miss. My no chip chipped in about 28 hours when I was just doing light activity at home. I went to get it fixed the next day and then it chipped again after 2 days. I'm not sure if it is the quality of the OPI nail polish I chose, but severely disappointed since this was a $45 manicure ultimately after tip that lasted less than a day. I've been coming here for a few years since it's the closest to my house. I've had my last straw with them this past Saturday. My last few visits were not great but I did keep over looking things. 1. I made an appt for 7 (they closed at 8). They called me to come at 6:30. I was fine with that. When I arrived I've never had someone rush through a nail appt as this one. The woman cut me three different times, looked at the clock every 5 minutes, and got mad at me when the polish got my nails (her painting them and she got it on my nails) I always do the gel polish so they are dry when I leave. She didn't do the warm towel or lotion at the end. At 7:15 they had the lights almost off and were rushing me out. I did check with them that they closed at 8 but everyone walked out behind me at 7:25. 2. The time after that i went my nails were just not what I asked for. She cut them completely off instead of a trim, cut me again, and I had so much polish under what tiny nail I did have it seemed like my skin was stuck to the nail for a week. 3. I made an appt 2 weeks ago on a Monday for a Friday morning. I showed up and they have no record of my appt being made. 4. The last straw being this past Saturday. I got another gel manicure. I was cut pretty bad on my pinky (see photo) Sunday it was swelling and burning. I noticed as well Sunday that the same pinky finger polish was already coming off my nail. LESS THAN 24 hours after!! Gel nail polish should not do that. I called for them to fix it and they couldn't find a time for me to. So I'm over them and will be finding a new place. read more

After an initial pedicure 2 months ago with a pretty underwhelming service. Mind you, they didn't ask how the service was at all. I told them how disappointed I was and they offered to make it up by offering me to come back. So 2 months later I came back, poor service and once again a lackluster execution. This picture is 2 hours after my pedicure. The methodology used was paint all over and try to clean up the paint job after fact. I live right up the street and have been going to this salon on occasion ever since it first opened. I'm extremely disappointed with the pedicure I got. It just overall looks sloppy and careless and I asked her multiple times to please fix it and she would not fix what was clearly obvious and was just plain rude about it. There are still streaks of nail polish on my toe that weren't cleaned off and the nail itself is not painted all the way. I wasted $54 on this including tip. There are so many better places in Chicago to get a pedicure for way cheaper and much better quality. read more

This place was amazing when they first opened, but in my recent visits, I've been less than impressed... The quality of service you get depends entirely on who does the manicures. Some of the women are excellent, careful, and take care to soak your nails and cuticles...others rush through as quickly as possible, and skip out on basic steps unless you ask for them. Generally, my no-chip manicures do last a couple weeks, and I will keep going back for those... Pedicures are a whole different story. I don't know what I'm paying for - its completely underwhelming, and zero effort to do anything other than remove and replace the polish. I'm in the market for another pedicure spot. read more

Ugh, what a disappointment. This place should try as hard with their services as they do with their appearances. They didn't have the (easy to find) Essie color I wanted. Then the pedicure...there was barely a calf scrub/massage. Next to nothing was done to any rough/calloused areas on the bottom of my feet. The whole thing lasted a short 20 minutes. They invested a lot in decor and it's generally clean yet the services are lacking. My rating is based on two visits. First visit: a standard mani took nearly 90 mins to complete. Second visit: they were so eager to be closing they rushed my pedicure out the door 15 mins prior to closing (someone was still getting a mani so I was not the last one) by wrapping my feet with oil when they were not fully dry -- but technician insisted they were. Got home 5 mins later and pedi is ruined. It's unpleasant to spend $45 and 90 mins only to have the work ruined because staff was being impatient. Letting my feet dry an extra 10 mins would not have affected their closing time. I don't think it was worth the lost business just to push me out the door. Anyway...
