After getting several quotes to redo the plaster and tile for our pool and spa , we decided to go with Tropical Breeze. Don the sales guy was so nice and very knowledgeable, and it was the best price! JJ the owner was great and they did exactly what they said they would do. They completed everything in under two weeks. I was very impressed by the quality of work the tile guys did and the work done by the men who did the plaster. We hired Tropical Breeze to complete a driveway replacement in July of 2023. Shortly after the driveway was completed and the final bill was paid, we noticed large unsightly dark spots all over the entire driveway. Some of the bigger spots measure over five feet long and three feet wide. We contacted JJ, the owner via text to explain the problem and attached plenty of photos. We also asked if he would return to the job site to look at the dark spots in person. He was very dismissive from the get-go and said there wasn't much that could be done and to wait until the summer to see if the spots lightened up or go away. We waited the recommended time and the large unsightly dark spots did not go away. We reached out again via text explaining the problem did not improve and again asked to schedule a phone call to discuss. He was again very dismissive and tried to blame it on the sprinklers this time. We then called his cell phone and the company line and left messages that went unanswered. We ended up having other contractors survey the driveway and gave us several probable causes that all pointed to poor workmanship. The bottom line is JJ claims that the work they do is under warranty but in reality, it is not. He will worm his way out of taking any responsibility for the work they do if it doesn't come out right. The only recourse you have is if you haven't made the final payment yet. But with concrete, you make the payment when it's completed, and it can take weeks to cure. They are capable of doing good work as they did work on the backyard that came out fine. The problem with Tropical breeze and dealing with JJ is that if anything goes wrong, he won't do the right thing to correct the problem if he already has your money. This case ended up in a legal battle. Ask yourself this, why would you bother dealing with a contractor like this if there are plenty of other choices out there. I completely forgot to update this review but YES, they did end up coming out and fixing the issues with the pool. They fixed the coping, and the grout so It's now back to looking great and works good. We have now had the pool for almost 2 years I believe and nothing else has gone wrong. I only wish they responded sooner because 6 months was a long time to wait. Their work on the pool itself is beautiful so if they can fix their response time for future clients, you'll be in good hands. read more

Construction was done February 2025! It is now July and we are so very happy! Not only did Tropical answered our questions, but provided great financing options, roadmap of construction and hit all milestones on time! We started the process in Nov 2024 and had a pool by Feb 2025. It would've been a lot sooner but crazy weather and other unforeseen events occurred not due to anything Tropical did! Tropical Breeze Pools. We worked with Don twice. The first time we did not pull the trigger on getting the pool. A year and half later we called Don back up and everything changed. Covid!! Don was up front with us from the start with the issues that have caused delays and the challenges they have been facing getting projects started and completed. He gave us an estimated completion date of the first week of November 2021. Well it's now February 2022 and the pool is completed and looks great. Don and JJ kept us updated on the progress once they broke ground. I get and understand the delay as we are still seeing how Covid has affected just about every business industry today. Some of the delay was our choosing to do some extra hardscape work done that we did not plan on. But made a world of difference. JJ used great people throughout the project. Can't complain at all about the contractors JJ has used. Very friendly, professional and will answer any question you may have. Again we can't stress enough the great people that worked on our pool project. JJ was always attentive to our questions and responded in a timely manner. I don't get or understand the bad comments on JJ nickel and diming his customers. Please note materials cost money labor cost money, just realize changes that differ from your original design may incur addition costs. I recommend that you look at as many pool jobs online as you can find so that you know up front what you want done in your pool project before you call any pool contractor. Be as knowledgeable as you can. Also know your property elevation. I did not understand that some of the decision I made that affected future steps and potential problems in regards to elevation and that is the only thing I would recommend to JJ and Don is to let customers know about elevation from your yard and neighbors on certain choices you might make. With Covid and now the economy and material shortages be patient and expect delays that are beyond the contractors control. We could not be happy with how things progressed and how our pool turned out. Tropical breeze was by far the best bang for the buck. Many contractors measured our backyard and started quoting prices over $60k without even giving a sales presentation or design outline. They bid the job with intent of having to dig up big boulders out without knowing if any were present. Don took his time to go over what they offer what pool equipment they use. He was thorough in what we were getting. Not once did JJ try to alter the price of the original agreement or look for reasons to charge more try to sell us on any added features. Bid and everything was good. They were on time and finished when they said they would but they didn't put stuff where I wanted it. Then they started with that's extra and that's extra oh and that's extra and could never give me a price of how much extra. JJ is unprofessional and the salesman lied said I wouldn't need a pool a guy with the system I bought for the pool and then to top every off the pool heater was broken and not one of them could tell me that. I will never use them again. Buyer beware !! When I did get sent the chicken scratched invoice on all the so called extra's some of them were on the original proposal but yet i stilled owed them more money. We came across Tropical Breeze Custom Pools at the LA County Fair. Hanley came at the appointed time and designed the most amazing pool for our backyard. We didn't have funds at the time but the images of our future pool encouraged us to save. We called Hanley a year later. Just to make sure, we had three other estimates. Tropical Breeze was not the cheapest but not the most expensive. We checked with friends and relatives and confirmed that we were getting top quality equipment for a fair price. The employees were some of the most courteous people I've ever met. They were eager to please and answered every question we had. Four months after signing the contract we had our pool. Because of the large investment in building a pool, I will be giving a lot of information about our process, learnings, and experience with Tropical Breeze. Our first point of contact was Jennifer in the office. She was very professional and scheduled our visit with their sales guy, Matthew. Because they were so busy, the appointment was about a month away and was set for September 13th. Matthew came by and got some preliminary information about what we wanted from a design perspective and measured our entire backyard. He was very nice, and we ended up spending time talking about our families, local politics, and other miscellaneous things. He promised he would have a computer-generated design in about a week. A week later, Matthew followed up with his promise by emailing us some options and an estimate. After evaluating a variety of factors, we decided to go with Tropical Breeze. This was a very tough decision because the other pool builder was very professional and the price point was in the ballpark. A few major factors for the decision were that we had a neighbor up the street and a close friend who lives nearby used Tropical Breeze. We got their perspective on their experiences, and we were also happy to see that they completed both projects. On September 26, 2021, we signed a contract and gave our $1000 deposit. This began the process of acquiring permits, engineering, and blueprints. Due to the process of waiting for all these things and adding the holidays, our project did not start until mid-January 2022. Excavation: This process started on January 12, 2022, and was competed the following day. The team was very professional. This is the day we met the owner, JJ, and his superintendent, Wayne. A payment will be due based on your agreed terms in your contract. Traditionally, the excavation process can take from 1 to 3 days for a full-size tractor. Smaller tractors can take longer. Rebar/Plumbing: This process started on January 21, 2022. One professional (Angel) completed this work in 3 days (January 24, 2022). This is typical depending on the size of your pool and difficulty of the project. Angel did an amazing job! Plumbing started on February 15, 2022. Pablo, Ben, Q, and Alejandro worked tirelessly to get this completed. You need to know that this is when your equipment (filtration & pumps), water lines, spa lines, main drains, return lines, conduit for lights and electrical, and gas lines for heater are installed. Due to supply chain issues, only one pump was installed at that time, but our second pump was installed later in the process. For our build, we had the gas line run through the attic of our home so we could minimize breaking up driveway concrete and backyard concrete that had already been installed prior to our decision of building a pool. Running the gas through the attic takes some time because of the space you may have along with how long the run is between the gas meter and the heater. The crew was great to work with and very professional. Shotcrete: On March 11, 2022, the shotcrete crew, led by Arnulfo, attempted to start this process, but it was too windy (challenges of living in Fontana during the windy season). The crew was rescheduled to March 21, 2022, and again, mother nature decided to blow wind again. The unfortunate reality is that shotcrete really can't be installed if it is windy. The wind can blow the sand and cement from the jet stream. Another bad effect of wind is that it can cause cracking from drying shrinkage as well as from evaporative cooling. The wind can also blow unwanted matter that could blemish its appearance. The third reschedule was set for March 29, 2022. The crew showed up and I was afraid they were not going to be able to shoot the shotcrete due to it had rained the day before. Fortunately, the crew was able to complete the job. Electrical: Due to the pandemic, pool construction has been in high demand which has put a strain on pool equipment and supplies. With people not traveling as much, backyards have become retreats for many families. Electrical was started on May 17th and completed on May 18th. In an effort to get things moving, we elected to have a manual switch installed instead of the Pentair Smart application. Pebble Plaster: On May 25th, a crew was scheduled to pebble plaster the pool shell. It took the crew one day to install the pebble plaster and the second day to acid wash. Once the crew finished acid washing, we began to fill the pool. With two hoses and good water pressure, it took us about 16 hours to fill the pool. Conclusion All in all, we had a good experience with Tropical Breeze. Matthew (sales guy) is great to work with and Jose, one of the supervisors, is great to work with too. All the trades did a fantastic job and great to work with. Their prices are reasonable with today's fluctuation of supplies and cost, and they will start and finish your job. read more

My husband and I are very happy with this company. Don Hubble our sales guy was very knowledgeable, friendly and honest. We had 3 estimates and Don was the only one who did not rush us through the presentation or push us into anything we did not want. We were kept up to date on every aspect of the project ( which due to this years rain in Calif was quite a process.) JJ, the owner and Wayne, the supervisor were great to work with. In fact every team that came out from the digging to the concrete and plaster was professional and reliable. Wayne the supervisor is such a down to earth guy. He was such a joy to work with. He answered all of our questions with a smile on his face ( and we did have a lot of questions). My husband is a residential contractor in Whittier and even he was happy with the process and the pool. I reached out to Tropical in Jan of 2021 wanting a pool. I had my own sketches and conveyed everything to them. I had stated at that time that I wanted a quote to have an 8ft area for my kids to dive. I got back junk designs that were nothing like the design in my sketches or even the painted lines I had put in my backyard. They even put the steps in very back of the yard instead of close to the house. It made no sense. We were working towards a design and price. It seemed like they were taking designs they already had and pasting them in my yard mockup. After a few revisions that were still wrong, I finally sent them my own design including all measurements and asked for a quote on it with the 8ft area option. Suddenly they stated their excavator was no longer doing any 8ft digs with walk-in gate access and they stopped responding to my emails (the builder I went with had no issues with an S70 excavator through my 3ft fence). I accepted that Tropical did not want to to the pool for whatever reason, but then I asked them to quote adding concrete to my driveway (which they had stated was their "bread and butter") and they never even bothered to respond. I have no idea what the problem was, but they wasted my time the whole way. read more

Gave quote then padded the whole job(more than nickel and dining). His coping/concrete=sloppy. TBCP quoted our neighbors and ironically, the things that were "extra" for us were part of the deal with them. JJ is a smart business man for his level. He feels what people want and adapt$ to the change$. At the moment, we are in arbitration and legal battle with what he says he cannot fix. The pool was completed by another pool company with no issues less than a month after your shady family business lies were no longer tolerated. One of the companies you attempted to subcontract the job to came in and did a great job. You all are full of lies. You all even lied to the permits office saying there was a crack in our pool and eventually retracted the comment. Surely, integrity and accountability is not your strong suit. From the salesman Don to the owner JJ this organization is top notch. I cannot have expected any more from our pool builder. These guys are on top of their game and there were no hidden fees and the price quoted never budged. 1st off Don is a professional and has years and years experience. He is known throughout the pool building community in so Cal and has garnered a lot of respect. In fact, my 3rd estimate was from Dave Porter out of Redlands and once he had seen Don's drawing and quote he told me that for that price "Don's guy will give you a good pool" and never heard from Dave again. JJ, the owner is laid back and seems to have seen everything at least once and took care of business. JJ was here on every day that was crucial to the build from breaking ground to laying the plaster. He worked closely with the city of Beaumont and made miracles happen. I have had friends and family come and see the pool and they recognized some extra details that didn't even ask for: overflow drain to the curb, automatic water fill with floating bulb, concrete poured onto the drain and filter covers. Seems like the majority of the review are all in line with my recent experience with Tropical Breeze. HORRIBLE COMMUNICATION!! Don was also my sales consultant. But I actually was referred by a family member. I would have saved time and energy by coming on here first. Don came in and gave me a quote. He was nice and very informative. After I received my quote 3 or 4 days later. I had questions about it so I called him. He was leaving an appointment and asked me to email him and he will get back to me. Well that was a month ago. With a few follow on my end I still did not hear back. Called the office spoke to the lady. She stated she will have him call me. I even asked if Donnis too busy. I am open to working with another sales person. She proceeded to say she would have Don call me. Still never did. I text him still nothing. My family member will also stop referring people to his company. It would have been nice to get a call, email or text that they are TOO busy to take on anymore work. We are so disappointed definitely should have gone with another company!! cracked lumpy plaster that needs redone. The coping looks unfinished and was not poured correctly the steps are completely sagging and completely different sizes. If you want and unfinished DIY looking pool then this is your company!! This company and my pool project wasn't a match made, Matthew told me and showed lack of interest in my pool after all. I'm very meticulous and certain with every project. And reviews finances regarding my project. 1. All prospective customers or customers should have all their concerns and needs answered because this is a big project. I felt like I was bugging him and took too much of his time. He said if he needs to change my design 4 more times, it'll be okay until we get it right. But it never got to that point it was only revised 2 times. My concerns were legit because our backyard has two different height of slopes. Materials that will be used. It's a big project that you won't just accept everything they offer you and not asked any question. 2. Know your measurements and know how to measure on your own too. know how to measure around your pool for pool decking because it can cost you unnecessary money if you just take his measurement. For instance my pool decking actual measurement is 400sqft as to what he quoted me for 900sqft. Big difference. So I had clarified and asked him. It was fixed on the plan/design. But if I never had past experiences on buying materials for my house that would have cost me. At the end of the day, I'm still thankful for some customer service he gave me. Can't say enough of how happy I was with the work that was done on my pool. We had a brand new pool built 3 years ago by tropical breeze. Up to this date no issues. They worked around our budget and never pushed us for more. What we liked the best was everything was hassle free. Never had to do anything but inspect work being done. Only reason this is 4/5 stars is the wrap-up. I've paid for 99% of the contract, and 4 months later, I still have an open trench in the side of my house and a drain that leads nowhere. Tropical Breeze Custom Pools delivered me a quality product based on my standards, the city inspector's standards, and the standards of other pool owners who have commented on my pool. Tropical Breeze finished my pool and hard-scape, including a rock slide, on time (10 weeks). Please read on for further helpful details. My pool was completed in August 2016. I purposely waited a year to write my review to see how things held up as we used and maintained the pool. I am happy with the decisions we made based on the recommendations of the team consisting of Don, JJ, and Warren. Don is a gentleman and a professional. He is a gentleman to his word and is genuinely sincere in his recommendations. He recommended an ozone filtration system that he uses himself. I am happy with the results. It is a low maintenance, low chemical system that has kept my pool clean and skin/eye friendly to date. Don is professional in showing up on time when he makes appointments and follow ups. JJ and Warren are easy going to work with. They respond when contacted and they follow through on their commitments. I have some aftermath wear and tear issues that JJ has meet his obligations on. JJ is committed to the quality of his work. It is concerning to write the last check to a contractor for fear they will no longer support you. JJ has continued his efforts without any additional fees. JJ also pays his sub-contractors which may be a problem with other companies in this business. I have heard many stories of subcontractors placing liens on a customer's home to collect when the pool contractor does not pay them. I've also heard of pool contractors that take off after payment and do not complete the project. I paid Tropical Breeze in three installments, each after work was completed. I had no issues with subcontractors. Perhaps my only issue looking back on the building process was communication between the general and its subcontractors. I do recommend staying on top of the construction process. There were a few times that the sub somehow received the wrong instructions, or perhaps they assumed the requirements. I spent time with each sub to ensure they had the correct information. I think this could be better managed with detailed drawings and notes.
