This is the best meal I've had in Mayfield and I've been visiting family here since the 70s. The hibachi steak and shrimp was a excellent. I ordered rare and it was nice rare with a good searing and the shrimp was grilled to perfection. You could taste the freshness of the vegetables and the rice was not too salty but with enough flavor that I didn't need to add any soy sauce or salt. I would estimate at this restaurant as a regular if I lived here and I wish there was a place with this quality near my house in Los Angeles. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find a sushi and hibachi spot in the relatively small town of Mayfield, Kentucky. As someone who's used to Teppanyaki-style Japanese cuisine, I found the hibachi here to be very similar--though it's not prepared in front of you like at teppanyaki, it still delivers on flavor. I ordered the Christmas Roll, and I loved the crunch and great flavor it offered. The portion size was decent for the price, too. I also tried the hibachi chicken and vegetables, which came with miso soup and salad. Everything was tasty and well-prepared. The atmosphere of the restaurant was inviting, with blue illuminated dividers that really made the space pop. The service was also good--they kept our drinks filled and were attentive throughout the meal. We traveled an hour to celebrate my sons Golden birthday at Sapporo due to the reviews. I did call prior to make a reservation and was told I didn't need one. I told them about the birthday at that time. When we arrived they had just opened for dinner at 4:30. When I looked at the menu on Yelp it was deceiving because it looked like they had hibachi tables. They do not. We were sat originally at a relatively small table. But, when we asked for a bigger table they were happy to move us. The waitress Stephannie was great. She was able to get our request for a custom sushi roll made. And, she was very pleasant. We ordered calamari and shrimp tempura, they were average. We then ordered 5 sushi rolls which were all delicious and beautiful. The hibachi dinners were generous and very good. The yum yum sauce is fantastic too. I like that they have it in squeeze bottles at the table. Hubby was in love with the yumyum and even put it on his salad. I took one star off because they never acknowledged his birthday. When I asked if they could do a little something they said they could maybe do icecream, but then she came back and said they're out of icecream. Very disappointed being that we drove so far and had so many options...and being his Golden Birthday. Overall a good meal. read more

I am from San Diego.. these guys produce some quality in the middle of nowhere.. Their prices are slightly lower than San Diego. We need to keep them here.. best restaurant in Mayfield hands down.. Food was ok service was a bit slow. We were the only customers in there. Ask my dish to be made spicy and was told they could not do that. Instead he handed me a bottle of chili sauce. I don't understand why they couldn't make it spicy unless it's all premade food. read more

They've been open for years and I've only ever been for sushi and tempura, but man, best meals I've ever had in Mayfield is correct! I should really try the hibachi sometime! I always get the roll combo with soup and salad, and only a few options cost extra, but I do pay extra for the spicy scallop roll and black pepper tuna. Also always get a Superman roll every time, usually a full one lol. The lobster rangoons are enough to share, and the shrimp tempura appetizer is huge too! Reasonable prices for everything, friendly service and mostly booth seating, this is the best restaurant in Mayfield and it's not even close :) read more

This place is stunning. It doesnt look like much from the outside but when you walk in it looks wonderful. It is clean and the servers are awesome. Service was fast and the food came out with presentation. You can see into the kitchen a bit and there is a sushi bar where you call see everything the worker is doing with your food. Normally I'm a fan of hibachi but I don't wast my time on a bad restaurant. This place deserves an award. I'm still not sure how Sapporo restaurant located here, as Mayfield is generally a cultural desert. Amazing hibachi, huge servings and reasonable prices. No tables around the grill here, so if you are looking for a hibachi show you will have to go elsewhere. The hibachi grill is set up where you can see your food being made, if you wanted to watch. Service is fast, friendly. Easily my favorite restaurant in Mayfield. And to answer, this place doesn't have a bar yet, so you can't get a actual Sapporo beer. read more

Reasonably priced, great selection. They do not serve alcohol (wish I could get sake) but well worth a visit!

GREAT place. Very reasonable pricing, excellent food, large selection, and pretty generous servings. Only complaint is that we got there around 2:30pm, and apparently the employees take a lunch from 3-4:30...so we felt a little rushed/ignored by our server. Otherwise it was amazing! read more

This place is amazing. By far the best sushi, steak, and chicken I've had around here. The sushi rolls are quite large and well worth the money. The steak melts in your mouth like butter and the chicken is so tender, flavorful, and juicy. The prices may seem a bit steep, but it is definitely worth every penny. My family loves Sapporo! We have tried a lot of sushi rolls our favorites are the Mayfield and Superman. The portions on the hibachi are big. The bento boxes are a great deal. We've had the scallops, filet, steak, and shrimp it's all good. My favorite are the vegetables. We have not had anything bad! read more

I couldn't believe that this place was in Mayfield. We got bento boxes to go for my daughter's birthday. They took longer to get than expected because they were so busy, it was Saturday night dinner time, so plan ahead. We had steak, chicken, and sushi and it was all excellent, exceeded expectations. The food was on par with the same kinds of food in Paducah. The decor was open and modern and the staff was friendly and helpful. Not a ton of seating so for busy times plan accordingly.
