The experience was SUPERB! The biggest plus for me is their menu presentation. I love Japanese food but don't eat raw fish, so no sushi with uncooked fish. Well well well...Sapporo is the first restaurant where their sushi menu page was separated by cooked fish vs uncooked. How clever! Today was my first visit to Sapporo. First let me say our welcome was so very friendly and gracious! We got to choose a table by the window and our hostess was very friendly! As to the food... oh MY! Each item I ate was full of delicate flavor and absolutely perfectly cooked. I had gotten the bulgogi bento box and tasted heaven! Our delightful hostess let us try various dipping sauces and was able to change my sushi rolls to vegetarian since I do not care for fish. Our food came out perfectly paced, delicious, and beautiful to look at. I will totally be back monthly when I visit Waynesboro. I had no idea this small, homey town had such a culinary treasure!!! Love this restaurant! The food is delicious and the owners are so friendly and upbeat. Nikki will remember your name, and be so kind the second time you come back. Another plus is that It is all BYOB, so you can save some money by bringing your own bottle of wine. It is street parking, but there is always room to park! As a vegetarian, I love the sweet potato tempura rolls, and the vegetable Korean dish. Plus, some of the best miso soup I've ever had! This place is amazing! The food is excellent. We had the sushi for two. The plate presentation was amazing, the sushi and sashimi were made perfectly. Not only is the food fantastic, but the atmosphere is incredibly friendly. I would definitely return to try the entrees and more sushi. The restaurant was beautiful and quaint. There is even a bubble tea/smoothie places upstairs that I have yet to try. The menu is extensive with a whole page and a half dedicated to sushi. We had a large party and every single person (9) was very happy with our food! Various teriyaki dishes, tempura dishes, calamari, dumplings, and a few different rolls. All the plates were beautiful and fresh. Nikki is a sweet and hilarious woman! Her and every employee were so welcoming. We will all be back to eat here again!!! read more

i tried sapporo for the first time today and i give it 3.5 stars. i usually go to aki for the lunch special but wanted to stay close to home (this is less than 2 minutes from me) for a quick lunch. it's a small little space, you have to pay to park and there's only 3 or 4 spots right in front of the place that's crazy hard to get in and out of because it's located on the main road. it's nice inside, and everyone seemed friendly. i usually get three rolls of shrimp tempura and a salad at aki for like $12 and this place doesn't even offer shrimp tempura for lunch. i had to order it off the regular menu and at $15 for two rolls i was not impressed. after taking a little while to make (there were only two other people in the restaurant and one was already eating) the rolls themselves were ehh. they make their rolls different than any other place i've been to. they were small, and the temperature was off. like biting into a frozen meal that's hot and cold at the same time. at least the presentation was pretty! read more

Stopped in for lunch on my way through Waynesboro. I ordered a California roll and a Philly roll. Both were delicious and tasted very fresh. I also ordered the miso soup and a green salad. What a nice surprise to see a sushi place in Waynesboro that is very good. I visited with my family and enjoyed the food. I had sushi, mostly nigiri.. And my family went Korean. Very small and cozy, The staff is warm and friendly. I hope the local palate who seems to be more interested in the commercial chains appreciate this place. Only time will tell. Stopped in as I was passing through town on business and had a sushi craving. Very nice inside and very polite staff. The miso soup was excellent. The sushi however was mediocre at best. Which would be fine, except at this location the prices would have you believe you are getting a premium product. Over all the mean was disappointing. I'm don't think I'll be back in the near future, any chef could be having an off day. I won't rule out giving them a second chance. read more

After hearing good things about Sapporo, we finally went in tonight. So glad we did! Since it was our first time in, we shared several things to get a taste of it all. Nabe Yaki Udon, Sea World Roll, Cherry Blossom Roll, Black Swan Roll, King Dragon Roll. My kids, who have never had Miso Soup, tried it and loved it. The Rolls were all elegantly presented. I have been to some of the top rated sushi and sashimi places on this coast and they have beat in a few. not sure what people on here are talking about the quality or price because the quality is amazing and the prices are very reasonable. I second all of the positive comments here- fantastic and beautifully served food, lovely and friendly service, and good value. Try the bi bim bap- I did on my third trip and fell in love with this Korean comfort food. I also got three meals out of it! The sushi is fresh and beautiful, and the fried oysters are outstanding. The teriyaki is fantastic, and even the miso soup is a standout and very tasty-compared to most places where it seems like a bowl of seawater. We were very surprised by the lovely interior, a bit at odds with the exterior look of downtown Waynesboro. Very tranquil and calm down to the nice music. This place is a gem for Waynesboro. The menu is extensive. You must try the spicy calamari as an appetizer, we order it every time. Sushi is high quality, flavors are on point. BYOB establishment. I was stationed in California for 5 years and miss all the excellent sushi bars there. I have never been very impressed with sushi restaurants in Pennsylvania until now. Sapporo is literally the best. Nikkie is amazing and if she recognizes you (which she will if you go a few times) she will treat you like family. My boyfriend Rick and I go very frequently and are absolutely never disappointed. The Sapporo fever roll and the garlic crunch roll are two of our favorites but absolutely everything we have tried (and we've tried a lot) is amazing. The clear soup is the best ive ever had anywhere. The food is always super fresh and always presented beautifully. I could not speak more highly of Sapporo if I tried.
