Her jelly masks are the selling point for me. The esthetician, Quyen, is one of the most pleasant people I've met in a long time. During COVID, she took all the right precautions to make you feel safe in the space. It's a small space inside of a building located on Kent Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Parking was a bit challenging but you can find something if you give yourself time. There is a bathroom located in a different area of the building. I enjoyed the vibe, very relaxed; the products were good; she uses Botnia skincare, which is all natural, another plus for me! I initially came for a signature, but ended up trying the dermaplaning service. Unfortunately, dermaplaning is not for me; my chin and cheeks broke out. I reached out to the esthetician whom told me that was the skin purging. Well, l "purged" and I hyper-pigmented, and developed ingrown hairs. My chin has not been the same. I do believe this reaction is what has contributed to me not returning. One thing I look into now is whether the esthetician has extensive experience treating melanated skin, that way there is a quick next step to treat.

In the buying process, the Face Fix does not have a description of what it includes/excludes. I only discovered that it included 2 services/month when I tried to book a third service in the same month. Sure - ok maybe just a website issue... so I emailed them and have not heard back for a week+. But then, on top of that... 2. I canceled before my billing date (a day or two before), and for some reason, it's locking me into this membership until THE END OF SEPTEMBER - TWO months from now. I will obviously be disputing this with my credit card company, but it's pretty sus to me that it takes a month to "process by cancellation request." I've checked my confirmation email and there is nothing about a membership cancellation notice. There is also a "processing fee" of $15 to get your membership set up, which I accepted when I bought the membership. Anyways, my advice is to use the services at Uni Wax, but be very careful about what you're signing up for because they are employing some pretty sketchy practices.

She didn't talk too much, but she really takes pride in her work. I didn't make it easy for her, especially since we had to remove the remaining SNS, but she didn't hurt me or cut my cuticles until I bled. Great success! I got a really thorough but efficient basic mani-pedi. I was amazed at how quickly she worked and both my fingers and toes looked gorgeous after. Especially since my fingers had a pastel pistachio color that can sometimes apply streakily in the wrong hands. But nope, I got a flawless application. I stayed a bit longer to do an extra drying cycle because I didn't want to mess up the beautiful work I just had done. I'm giving it 3 stars because after only two days both the polish on my fingers and toes started chipping within 2 days. For fingers it's not that unexpected, even though I wasn't very active during that time. I was really surprised the toenail polish began chipping, since I've had good pedis that last 10-14 days unblemished and even longer and I thought the one I got at Freckle would be in the longer-lasting category. If I'm in the neighborhood I might try Freckle again because I walked out feeling great and my nails did look incredible from the start. As a man, sometimes beauty salons are a little unsure about what "style" to give me since 95% of the clientele is usually women, but Monica's always understands the "natural" look and gets it right every time. If I ask for a correction, they're happy to oblige. Plus, the employees always greet me and say thank you when I leave - which seems silly to point out, but is a rarity these days.
