Worth stopping by for sure. The seafood pasta was incredible, my favorite dish thus far in positano. The mushroom ravioli was to die for. We started with mozzarella and prosciutto appetizer as well as grilled eggplant. Everything was truly so good. I think the best thing was the deserts~~ lemon sorbet was the best sorbet I've ever had and the coffee mouse was so light and refreshing. We will be back... probably tomorrow. read more

I guess this place is worth the four stars, though I would've had a much better time if we weren't seated near the entrance right next to the cash register and the refrigerator. Seriously, it was ridiculous that they squeezed one last table in an area which should just be open space for walking. I had to lean in at least three times during dinner so the waiter could go behind me to get dessert for other people. If you come here, make sure you're not seated there. You'll know exactly what table I'm talking about as soon as you enter. That being said... The food is good. It's one of the cheaper restaurants in the area (and it helps that there aren't many restaurants, let alone cheap restaurants, in walking distance). The flavors aren't anything new, but the price-quality ratio is fine. I ordered the spaghetti bolognese (€11) and my girlfriend ordered the gnocchi with shrimp (€15). My spaghetti tasted great (and it really helps that I was starving from my trip into Positano...) but it was definitely definitely undercooked. The sauce was delicious but the noodles, especially when first delivered to our table, were on the al dente side. I'm not sure if I got used to it over the course of the meal or if they continued to cook while I ate, but things got better. Worth the €11. The gnocchi, on the other hand, I'm not so sure about. Delicious, yeah, but such a small portion! I had to eat my plate and about a quarter of hers to be full. The gnocchi tasted homemade and was delightfully soft. I've never been big on it, but it was pretty tasty. Still, I wouldn't get it again for €15. read more

On our last in Positano we stumbled on this place that was not too far from our hotel and had great reviews. Certainly not a 5 star experience. Decor dated but onto the food.... we ordered a bottle of still water, we were brought tap water in a jug and then charged 2 EUR for that. Bread served at table was stale. For appetizer ordered bruschetta. It was just toasted bread with fresh tomatoes, barely any seasoning or olive oil, and some tomatoes tasted like they were going bad. For main fish ordered pasta with seafood and my husband got the gnocchi. Seafood pasta was just ok, my husband's gnocchi was homemade and delicious with a number of interesting flavors like smoked mozzarella. Service is mixed. Some servers are knowledgeable and attentive and some randomly take thinks off your table without asking you. Oh and they don't take AmEx. Wish we were not lazy our last evening and had a proper memorable meal at La Sponda, NeXt2 DaVicnenzo, ChezBack or somewhere by the beach. read more

Oooh I'm all about delicious food at a competitive price-point. And Ristorante Saraceno d'Oro doesn't skimp on quality even at the relatively competitive price for Positano restaurants. I enjoyed it so much, we came here twice for dinner. They've got starters, pizzas, pastas, fish, desserts galore. My favorite dishes were the grilled zucchini appetizer (€6) and the homemade scialetielli pasta (€17). This scialetielli was made with a seafood medley instead of the traditional eggplant and tomato sauce. While the pizza was arguably good, no pizza could really compete with the delicious wood-fired €3.50 pizzas we had in Naples. First dinner in positano and was a little disappointed. Bad sign at the beginning the bread was stale and so chewy it was inedible. Antipasti app with grilled and fried veg was overcooked and mushy. Pasta was ok but not quite was I was expecting. Fish special was overcooked and served with cold cooked green beans. Service was very quick and good, they even offered free limoncello after the meal as they could tell I didn't finish the fish/green beans. read more

We were in Italy for ten days and this was our only disappointing dining experience. The food was bland and we were rushed from beginning to end. Obsessed with the pasta from here! My bf and I had dinner at Saraceno d'Oro on our last night in Positano and it was the best italian food I had on this trip. It was so good I made us come back for lunch the next day and wanted to order takeaway as well. The first night I had the seafood pasta which was spectacular. The next day I tried the bolognese which blew my mind. These two dishes are killer so you can't go wrong with either. The bruschetta was amazingly fresh as well. I thought the pizza and the chocolate almond cake were okay. A live band will play in the street at night so it is worthwhile to sit outside if you can. We also went to La Tagliata, and although that is a must for the views and experience, the food here is better. read more

This was definitely the best restaurant that we tried when my wife and I were in Positano for a couple of days. The service was really friendly and the restaurant itself was unique but very nice. We had a table for lunch right across the street. I can confidently say that I had some of the best gnocchi of my life at this place. The texture was so airy and light, and the tomato sauce was super fresh and flavorful. When the word gnocchi comes up now, I will always remember this place. We also ordered their seafood pasta and a side of their zucchini. The zucchini out here is incredible, something about the way they cook it is so amazing. We ordered: -fish pasta special: a bit on the bland side and the pasta was a bit on the hard side (if they cooked the pasta for about a minute or two longer, the texture would have been perfect). This wasn't my favorite dish. -broccoli and sausage pizza: the pizza was a lot better compare to the pasta I ordered. The pizza had a good ratio of cheese, veggies, and meat. -Vesuvius white wine: so glad they had this wine here because we thought we lost our chance to purchase a bottle when we visited Vesuvius. The wine was surprisingly very good. Service: They were really pushy which was annoying but after a few glasses, I was able to easily ignore that ;). Overall, the experience was just okay. Saraceno is a Positano-on the hill restaurant that you HAVE to go if you don't mind a little hike on your way to a pizza feast. We stayed in Positano for 2 nights and had chosen this location as our dinner spot for both evenings. During our visits, we tried Octopus caprese salad (out of this world fresh and delicious), antipasto di mare (mix seafood appetizer which tasted really good), eggplant parmesan (cheesy and obviously delicious), swordfish in tomato sauce (a-ma-zing) and 2 different types of pizza( no regrets). We also ordered panno cotta (can skip) and chocolate cake (don't you dare to skip this). The most we paid for dinner for 2 (incl. a bottle of wine) was around 60 euros, which is very reasonable in comparison to other locations in the town. On your way to Saraceno, you will pass fancy and romantic restaurants such as Next2 but never mind those and keep walking. Your efforts will be rewarded. read more

This was one of the worst dining experiences in dining in Italy. The reviews said everyone received complimentary Prosecco upon seating. We did not. I read that complimentary limoncello was served with the bill. We were charged 9 euros for the limoncello. Our starter della casa was supposed to be fried and grilled vegetables. Nothing was fried and the grilled vegetables were so overcooked as to be inedible. We ordered seafood pasta. Most of the seafood shells were empty and the say's was a bland tomato sauce. How many pizzas did we consume here? Can't remember. But I'm sure we almost tried every pizza they have on their menu. When in the province of Italy where pizza was first created, you need to do just that! We enjoyed our belated honeymoon in Positano during the off-season (still very sunny and beautiful...just not as warm) and this was one of the restaurants that was open during that time. Lucky us! Ok, let me start by saying we ate here 4 days in a row. 3 times for dinner and once for lunch. The food was AMAZING. My personal favorite was the ravioli, had that twice. Tried the gnocchi which were amazing. The manicotti was to die for. My friend got the seafood pasta and loved it. We also got the grilled sea bass on our last night which was DELICIOUS. The pizza for lunch was the way to go, wood fires and so good. And because we got to know the staff so well, they made it in a heart for us. The atmosphere is great, the family run staff is so much fun and so accommodating, and the food is the best we've had in our 10 days in Italy. Highly recommend! We just ate here for the second night in a row. The food was excellent, and the whole staff were warm and offered excellent service, recommendations, and were great to our two kids. The menu is great for foodies and locals, as well as tourists with some great regional basics like pizza and pasta, ranging to fresh caught seafood. We are some local vegetables and dined family style, sharing a bit of what we each ordered. The wine list isn't expansive, but there's some great values to be had, as well as house options as well. Everyone was unbelievably friendly and welcoming, which is what brought us back a second night. You won't go wrong with this great local favorite, packed with folks from the town - a telling sign of the great quality food they serve, all with a smile. read more

We came here on our last night in town and wished we had eaten here sooner. It is definitely the best food in Positano and not expensive compared to the other option around town. YES YES YES!!!...Do not visit Positano without eating here. It was everything all other places we visited in Amalfi had not. Atmosphere, Ambiance, great local food, great service and great price!!.. Stop your search here!!... After being disappointed by the other places we visited this was such a breath of fresh air. No reservations, we entered and warmly greeted with a glass of Prosecco. Promptly seated and greeted with a smile. Our waiter was knowledgeable & friendly. We had fabulous marinaded local sardine like fish, an order of grilled & fried veg & bruschetta to start, all fresh and delicious. We followed up with seabass done elegantly & simply served with lemon and sprinkled herbs. I had the Swordfish with capers, mushrooms and olives in a light tomato sauce. For sides we ordered roast potatoes, grilled eggplant and a side of zucchini all done to perfection. Full of flavor, lightly seasoned and so so tasty. Although not needed we followed up with Tiramisu and a Pannacotta, again light, flavorsome and a perfect end. We shared 2 bottles of wine , a carafe and bottled water and all only came to €150. If you want to not feel like just another tourist and have why you made the trip there to experience this is a MUST!!.. Thank you to the staff & management for knowing how to do things right, execute and give a thorough joyful experience from entry to exit. We love this place!!! this was our first meal in Italy and we were thrilled. The Margherita pizza is delicious. The crust is perfect and the sauce is to die for and of course amazing cheese. The gnocchi were a fantastic addition to our pizza. House wine is cheap and very tasty! Best part is the servers and the environment. We ordered a veal Milanese, veal with mushroom both tasted insipid no seasoning no flavor, the John Dory smelt fishy and the only thing that tried hard to save it were the tomato's in short no flavor of anything whatsoever. What the actual F! This place was bad. And I mean BAD. Literally the worst Italian food I have ever had, anywhere. The food came out in 2 minutes flat, which was very odd. Appetizer of buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto--very underwhelming. Flavorless. Then came the entrees. I had the seafood pasta by recommendation of the waiter-the seafood was frozen and the pasta had no flavor. Just a waste of a meal. Now my husband had the gnocchi with shrimp-oh marone. That was absolutely disgusting!!!! Omg. I actually have never tasted something so disgusting. It was barely in a sauce but it just tasted like bacon--but the funny thing is, there was no bacon/pancetta in the description!! Gross. And the gnocchi was kinda hard, probably frozen as well. Went for lunch on our first day in Positano. Staff was welcoming. While we felt totally fine/safe, the outside tables are on the other side of the street across from the restaurant on busy Pasitea. Melon was ripe and prosciutto was fresh. Nothing amazing, but very good nonetheless. Pizza on the other hand was phenomenal. Fresh mozzarella and tomatoes and little else. Fresh and simple. We didn't have any pasta, but for pizza, this place is a no brainer. Note that, like many restaurants in the area, there is a €2 per person cover charge. read more
