Sadly, this is about 20 minutes on a not great route away from my fat a$$. But I go a lot anyway, because I NEED the sausage rolls real bad. They also carry a standard size Coke Zero in a can, cold. Then one day at lunch one of my co-workers half-jokingly said "If you *really, really, really* want to be in the in-crowd here, bring us red velvet doughnuts from Sarah Donuts." I'd thought about it. Then, that same day as I was driving home, I'd seen it to my right as I was nearing my turn onto I-85 South on Jimmy Carter Boulevard. So, I'd strategized, and planned how early I'd have to leave home to make it work and still get to eat some breakfast and listen to my morningly podcasts (since, basing my thoughts on how popular the reviews of the place seemed to be, I was expecting a queue and a bit of a wait). I was also thinking of calling in my order because I was thinking red velvet doughnuts sounded so... involved. I'd even thought they'd be making them on order, or at least a few batches at a time. I decided to not call after all. I'd just budget time wisely. I left a couple mornings later to my first time there, and came to a fairly deserted parking lot about 6:40am, knowing the shop's been open an hour already. I knew I'd have to u-turn to get there, since I suppose Gwinnett County Transportation long-decided they needed a median along that stretch of Jimmy Carter to protect people from themselves while driving (as a former volunteer with GCT, and current survivor of the B-S that can be driving alongside my fellow why-are-they-drivers in the Metro, I'm not even being sarcastic), and I felt relief in seeing a couple people come in and go quickly. A 40-something businessman-looking guy. A young, red-headed woman who could be a housewife. Another young woman who seemed to be a student. Their comings and goings were so quick, I'd wondered if *they* called in their orders! I went in and saw piles of doughnuts, including an almost threefold pile of red velvet ones. Wow! It impressed me greatly. I'd have no trouble pleasing my co-workers, and getting a fix myself of what people have promised was an airy and delicious piece of Heaven. I decided to get six red velvet, three blueberry, two plain glazed, and one plain cake. I took out my trusty, everyday-purchases credit card (because I really dislike cash, honestly, and am very good with credit) and handed it to a nice and quiet woman whose smile brightens anyone's day. While my transaction processed (since it's a separate credit card machine, it uses dial-up; the line was busy), I'd seen another customer come and go paying cash, and I suppose that's how people were going so quickly. I don't envy them, though; they can have their cash. My transaction went through, and my smiling hostess handed me my receipt, my Sarah Donuts-branded white box with my dozen glee-inducers, and I went to go have an egg and cheese croissant. It came time, soon, to make my deliveries. Everyone loved the doughnuts, but the consensus seemed to come to two things: 1) I must go back and get their apple fritter, because it's "even *better*" than the red velvet. 2) One should try to go when they've made a new batch, because a newly-minted Sarah Donuts doughnut is, quoting, "ten times better because it's just got shit-tons of flavor when it's warm". Even bearing those in mind, the two red velvet and a blueberry I'd had were absolutely wonderful to have and they were so, *SO* good. Fair warning, though: if your system is not used to much more than cereal and tea most mornings, having three doughnuts, half a cup of The Commonwealth-style black tea, an egg and cheese croissant, a cup of coffee, another cup of tea, some water, and a handful of red velvet Oreos in the morning, and then a spicy cucumber salad with a snack bowl of peaches and a strawberry yogurt for lunch, prepare yourself to dip from Heaven to Hell. Sarah Donuts have a total of 5 locations in Georgia, and I believe this husband and wife team Sarah and Jongwon will turn out to be very successful. My favorite, the red-velvet cake donuts with icing are winners, and all are made by hand early, early in the morning. Their donuts are slightly crisp outside and extra-fluffy inside. Eating a donut is an act of pure pleasure. So if you're going to have one, every bite should be worth it. Super cheap and high quality don't always mix, but they do at Sarah Donuts. Thanks to Jose O., we all gathered here on a Saturday morning to partake of some delicious baked goodness and Sam. H. and I split a dozen of the round baked gems Sarah's has to offer. Trying to decide what we wanted, was hard. I opted for the Red Velvet - crazy how much this tastes exactly like red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. Wow. I also decided on a Blueberry Cake - this is typically one of the standard donuts I will buy and compare all bakeries by. This one was delightful. Lots of blueberry flavor and really moist and delicious. I think this was the true winner of the day for me. But the most fun, was the filled donuts. They have them in the case, but not filled. You select what you want (powdered, glazed, chocolate glazed) and then tell them what you want them filled with, and the nice lady then walks to the back and you watch her fill it right then and there (strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, lemon or creme). Damn, talk about fresh!! Service is pretty fast, and friendly. I will say this place is pretty small. Ten of us tried to hang out in the corner around a table, but we ended up spreading out the counter in the window as well. So it isn't the best hang out spot in the world, but the donut are certainly work the trek I had to make. My biggest complaint (and this seems to be true for a lot of donut places) is that the milk select is either whole milk or 2%. In this day and age, you should offer 1% or skim for the more health conscious - I'm eating fattening donuts, let me drink less fatty milk, please. And no, chocolate milk does not count. read more

**FREE DONUT WITH YELP CHECK-IN** *This place deserves 5 stars, but I was forced to give it 4 stars due to 1 half cooked donut... see below* I've been driving past Sarah Donuts the last 2.5 years it's been open and noticing it's awesome sign, but never actually stopped by until my recent visit to Atlanta. I came here 3 days out of the 5 days I visited home. That's how good it was. Note that Sarah Donuts closes at 2pm most days (le sigh) and is closed on Sundays. Not sure if this establishment is related to any of the other "Sara Donuts" around Metro Atlanta. It's located west of 85 on the south side of Jimmy Carter. You have to do a U-Turn to get to the shopping center if you're coming from the east. The cake donuts are the perfect mixture of yeast and cake - not too cakey, not too dry, not too fluffy. Slightly crispy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. The best part is, for some reason it doesn't make you feel like you're eating a fat piece of lard. The donuts are also not too sweet like Dunkin. Prices range from 80 cents to a dollar each. The sweet Korean lady inside is very nice, but doesn't talk too much, as I don't think her English is too good. My absolute favorite was the red velvet cake donut - please note (see below) that the red velvet selection varies day-to-day... not sure why. BTW, I probably wouldn't choose to get coffee here based on some reviews and what looked like a coffee dispenser (aka, not fresh). Day 1: Red Velvet and Blueberry Cake Red velvet on this day was unglazed with cream cheese frosting and red velvet crumbles on top. AMAZING. I stopped by with my mother and picked up a free one and we shared it in the car. She then proceeded to go inside and buy more! Mom's approval = must be delicious. Super cheap and high-quality doughnuts that are kind of on my way to work. I had this place bookmarked for some time and decided that I would bring my team a treat since I was getting to the office super late already. I swung by (it's in the same plaza as Five Guys, I think) and ran in to see a small and attractive space. There were doughnuts set out in glass cases but since I was in somewhat of a hurry, I looked for the price board and noticed right away that the doughnuts were very "economical." These are not super creative doughnuts but they are well-made in-house. I ended up with 6 red velvet, 2 chocolate glazed, 2 sour cream, and 2 blueberry cake. Service was very nice and fast. When I got to work and announced what everyone would be treated to for their morning snacks, I had many come over to my desk to "ooohhh" and "aaaaahhh." The red velvet cake doughnuts looked the most impressive and thanks to Yelp reviews, I chose to get more of these than the others. I have to declare that this place is my favorite donut shop. I grew up in the world of Dunkin Donuts and grocery store bought donuts. Man how I've been missing out! Sarah's Donuts smells amazing when you walk in and their pleasant and wide selection of donuts is welcoming. My favorite is the sunflower looking donut. It is basically a huge glazed donut but instead of being a traditional donut shape, it has several glazed donut petals that you can pluck and enjoy piece by piece. Fair warning, it can be more expensive than a national donut chain. I picked up 1.5 dozen and it was $30. But, it's worth it. Every type of donut I've tried has been delicious. The crunch and crust of the glaze is so satifying and I appreciate that their donuts are mostly yeast-raised donuts and not cake donuts. read more

Had these local at my Embassy Suites hotel this morning. Only had assorted cake donuts to choose from and a few old fashioned but now that I've looked at their yelp page I might have to go out of my way to go on my own. I'm going to say it. I'm not a donut person. I'm a bagel person. I don't like sugar in my coffee. I don't like sugar in the morning at all. But I have a soft spot for local businesses and so tried one on my way out the door. Delicious!!!!!
