I was in Norcross this morning craving a sweet breakfast and stumbled across Sarah's donuts. Upon entering the small shop, I was greeted by two employees and the bakery smelled sweet and delicious. I ordered the 2 classic yeast glazed, 2 cake donuts, and a hot chocolate. Everything was tasty and fresh. I would really love to give this shop 5 stars. I LOVE the donuts so much, but I have to be really honest in hopes that they either hire new staff or become more tolerable. I have spent HUNDREDS of dollars at this particular shop, some weeks going in 3/4 five days a week and the staff still treats me like a stranger every single time. Large patrons and supporters of a business don't want to feel that way. Do I expect different treatment? Not at all. I expect to be acknowledged. I'm not one to say this often at all because I rarely feel it in Atlanta, but I absolutely feel like I am ignored/mistreated because I am Black. The women in this store greet people who do not look like me much different than myself. When ordering certain items, they offer them things they do not offer me (different types of cheeses for the croissants, for example). Though I order the exact same thing every time I come, I have to explain it every time and sometimes even after explicitly stating what I am ordering, they will give me the wrong thing and it just feels purposeful. Especially because like I said, I'm here so often and order the exact same thing. They've been rude to me about not mentioning oat milk and me trying to I guess "take advantage" by not telling them for the 625183936 time that I order oat milk in my coffee. They made me feel like I was trying to get out of paying the extra idk 75 cents. I've tried to overlook, but after giving me the wrong croissant AGAIN today after I told them, I no longer feel it's a business worth all of the money I've been spending. I've been here several times and they do not disappoint. There's something about a couple of Ummas serving you an amazing donut and knowing the community and regulars coming in. They'll call you out by name and greet you as if you were a family member. I've had their strawberry and cream along with their croissant sandwich and pig in a blanket, but the Korean version. It was met with immediate exasperation and I get it; perhaps the tiny Korean elder couldn't be bothered with the English. Fine. But when the second employee didn't even bother to hear me, just kept barking, "You pay, you get. We start at 1.50. Wait!" When it was just me and one other customer... Nah. We went at 10:30 am on a Saturday. They were out of the waffle donut, which we definitely would've tried. Tip: go earlier. However, we were still impressed with how much they had left, considering they had already been open for 5 hours. We got 6 donuts. They were pretty average. Here's what we got, in order of preference: Sunflower (basically a cinnamon bun) ($2.49), Croissant Donut ($3.99), Cinnamon Sugar ($0.99), Cookie Monster ($1.79), Red Velvet ($1.39), Raspberry-Filled Donut ($1.39). The Red Velvet didn't taste like Red Velvet--it tasted like a regular donut that just happened to be red. The raspberry filling was so artificial and gross. Would not recommend. We got a small and large iced coffee. They were both super, super sweet. Tip: get the iced coffee black and add your own sweetener and cream at the counter. The employees were helpful and very patient as we made our decision. They were all wearing masks. We've read that they have the best donuts in the state. Maybe our expectations were too high, but we were disappointed. I think there are better donut places in Georgia for sure. read more

With Sarah Donuts it's right down the street from my house (Norcorss location) and has a completely different assortment then Sublime. All Sarah's Donuts are made fresh daily and the people working there was extremely friendly and welcoming. Bless her heart. This is my second time being treated with donuts from this place. My donut was a Strawberry Cream Donut. This is not just any old store chain creation. This thing was made with love. The donuts here are friggin' delicious. The first donut I ever tried at Sarah Donuts was a red velvet cake donut with icing. As soon as I took that first bite, my eyes lit up with pure delight. The donut pretty much blew me away and I don't say that often about food. Sarah Donuts is a small mom-and-pop donut shop located in a nondescript strip mall on the stretch of Jimmy Carter Boulevard in between I-85 and Buford Highway. This cute little local business opened in 2011. The owners are humble and nice. The older lady owner is sweet. Note: Sarah Donuts is only open in the morning and early afternoon, 5:30am to 2:00pm, and the shop is closed on Sunday. You'll have to go early in the day if you want to get your donut fix. Not only are the donuts delectable, but they're a great deal too. Most donuts are only $0.75 to $0.99 each and you can get a dozen for $8.00 to $8.50. Donut holes are $0.17 each. The only bad thing about Sarah Donuts is having to stop yourself from eating too many. They're that good (at least, to me they are). My favorite donuts at Sarah Donuts are the cake donuts. The yeast donuts are very good too, but they aren't significantly better than the yeast donuts at Krispy Kreme or Sublime Doughnuts (two donut shops I am also a fan of). Like any good donut shop, the staff at Sarah Donuts prepares their donuts fresh each day. They are "handmade" and the freshness and high quality are attributes you can taste. I recommend just about any of the cake donuts, but for reference, here are some of my favorite ones (in order): 1. Red Velvet Cake - be sure to get the version with icing 2. Glazed Twist Cake - essentially a cruller donut 3. Glazed Chocolate Cake - rich, comforting 4. Sour Cream Cake - sounds weird and it's not sour 5. Maple Glaze Cake - nice thick layer of maple frosting 6. Sugar Cake - added texture and sweetness 7. Plain Cake - simple, but very good The cake donuts are ideal. They seem to have the perfect mouthwatering consistency. They aren't too dense nor too airy. They're neatly rounded and almost melt in your mouth. Even the simpler cake donuts, such as the sugar and plain varieties, can be supremely gratifying. What do they put in this stuff? Sarah Donuts officially eclipsed Dutch Monkey Doughnuts in Cumming for my favorite cake donuts in metro Atlanta. As for yeast donuts, I favor the Regular Glaze, Chocolate Glaze, and anything with sprinkles. The Star Donut with Sprinkles is probably my favorite of Sarah Donuts' yeast donuts (of the ones I've tried). Though they're not bad, I'm not a fan of the yeast donuts with chopped nuts or coconut shavings. Yeast donuts with filling are available too. Fillings can include cream, lemon, strawberry, and raspberry. Aside from donuts, there are various other pastries too such as cinnamon sticks, twists, eclairs, cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, and bear claws. Savory pastries include ham & cheese croissants and sausage rolls. I like the chocolate-frosted, cream-filled eclairs. They're light and fluffy yet smooth and creamy. Splendid for a mid-morning snack. Sarah Donuts serves affordable Royal Cup coffee and cappuccino which is usually no more than about a couple bucks a cup. Other beverages are self-serve out of fridges and include milk, Yoo-hoo, various fruit juices, bottled Starbucks drinks, Gatorade, energy drinks, and Coke products. A bottle of water is $1. The store has a simple and clean all-white interior with limited seating. There's one table that can comfortably seat 4-6 customers and a counter against the window that can seat a few more. No Wi-Fi. Most customers grab their orders and go. Service is excellent. A dozen donuts are packaged in a compact box with the donuts lined up next to each other vertically (similar to the Krispy Kreme 12-count boxes you might find at a grocery store). This is opposed to the standard donut box which is flat and wide. The Sarah Donuts box is easier to transport. For those donuts with frosting/toppings, a sheet of bakery tissue paper is placed around them to prevent the frosting/toppings from rubbing off onto adjacent donuts. read more
