This was my first time visiting duck donuts. It's an interesting concept because they make each donut fresh to order. The interior is colorful with lots of differing types of merchandise you can purchase. The man and woman operating the store are friendly, and they greeted me as soon as I entered. The woman asked this is my first time and then she went on to explain the concept. With so many donuts, to choose from, I decided to simply try one this time, and I ordered the maple bacon doughnut. It was made relatively quickly, and the woman appeared slightly anxious for me to hurry up and try it. The donut was served hot, but there immediately appeared to be less maple icing than seen in the photos or experienced at other donut shoppes. For example, I have had maple bacon donuts at different places in Georgia, as well as California. There is consistently a thicker amount of maple icing. There was a generous amount of bacon on the donut, but the ratio of bacon to maple icing appeared off. The donut tasted more salty and less sweet based upon the disproportionate amount of bacon versus icing. I thought this might have been impacted by the donut being served hot, so I waited for it to cool down to see if the maple icing would solidify more. This was not the case. And while there was more bacon, the bacon appeared to be less like the chopped bacon shown in the photos and on competitors' donuts and more likely recently fried bacon. Therefore, the bacon tasted more soft and slightly greasy versus hard and crispy or crunchy. So, while I love the concept of donuts made hot and fresh to order, I was disappointed by the results experienced with the maple bacon donut. Nevertheless, I would definitely consider returning to give this location of Duck Donuts another chance and try other donuts, such as the Cinnamon Bun and Fresh Toast donuts. Cheers

I saw this place and almost didn't come. But the kids said yes. And apparently it's great! The donuts were good and the vibe was great as well!

This place is next to where I get my haircut. Who knew?

How cool is this place. DONUTS Hot now. They literally made my donuts to order. Very nice lady, Youn was very friendly. I ended up getting 2 glazed donuts and a black coffee. It is very tasty and has many choices for donuts. I decided to go with plain glazed on my first time here. I will come back.

Restaurant Review: Duck Donuts Duck Donuts is nothing short of magical, and I mean never-fail magical. Every location I've visited consistently delivers perfection, from their everyday donuts to their seasonal delights. If you're not a fan of chocolate donuts, don't get chocolate donuts and then claim this place isn't good--that's on you for not choosing a flavor you like. Now, let's marvel at the true star of the show: the maple bacon donut. Each bite of the maple bacon donut is a delightful, transcendent experience that feels like a journey to Valhalla. The combination of sweet maple glaze and savory bacon creates a flavor story that is truly enchanting. Customer service at Duck Donuts is always met with smiles and a warm welcome. The shop itself is cozy and cute, and the moment you step inside, you're greeted by an incredible aroma that transports you to another universe--what I like to call the donutverse. Please, do yourself a favor and check out Duck Donuts. Enjoy the journey!

Meh, I remembered seeing this chain while in NC and decided to give it a try. Cute merchandise in a clean shop. Guessing the hype is that the small freshly fried cake donuts are decorated to order. Glaze dribbled over the top with the excuse that it could not be fully dipped since it is made to order. Powered sugar and cinnamon sugar options were fully covered though. At $1.99 per donut, not worth it. Confused on how they have remained in business 6 years. Guess the area is desperate for small over priced treats?!

These donuts are tasty because they're made to order and served warm. The owner is super sweet. Told him that it's my first time here, and he explained the process. The base layer is a cake donut that is fried when you place an order. Pick your toppings, and they'll add them on in front of you. They also serve coffee and donut sundaes here. I ordered a strawberry and chocolate coconut donut for $1.99/donut. Devoured them quickly outside.

This place is a favorite in my household! I am very particular about sweet treats, but the fact that you can have a fresh, WARM custom cake donut in just a few minutes can't be matched anywhere else. Youn is extremely friendly and works very efficiently to make sure everybody gets their treats in a timely manner. Every donut we've had has been amazing, and their milkshakes are also really really good. I just love how everything is perfectly sweet!

Ehh...maybe if you eat them warm it makes a difference. I ordered a dozen this morning for the work crew. When I saw them they didn't look much like the picture shown on the menu sheet. Got them to work and totally wasn't impressed. The topping tasted very artificial, and the donut itself was just blah.

We went on National Donut Day (June 5, 2020). Due to the coronavirus, there was no line. The owner's daughter said there would usually be a line out the door. Even though there was no line, they had blocked off spaces 6 feet apart for people to wait, so they were still prepared. The owners were so sweet and welcoming. They were giving out free Cinnamon Sugar donuts. We also got the Oreo Dream and the French Toast (both $1.75 each). The donuts themselves are perfect. They're warm and cakey. They make them fresh to order. The Oreo Dream was just okay. The French Toast was also really good and tasted like actual french toast. The Cinnamon Sugar was AMAAAAAZING. It was simple, but perfect. Highly, highly recommend. Great prices, incredible donuts. We will definitely be back!

    Text message I received

I went to this place because, I signed up online and they texted me to receive a free donut for signing up if I purchase 1 donut. I get there and showed the Asian lady the text I received. She asked me to click on the link and give her the code . After I did all this in front of her . She's gonna say she doesn't have the code I gave her. I asked her , how's the possible when I opened it up in front of her and read the code out to her. She acted like she didn't want to look at my phone or touch it. I asked her if I could show her the code or repeat the code to her again and she said no sorry . What type of bs is that .why have customers sign up if you're not gonna honor the purchase. It literally expires today and she wouldn't allow me to use it . I will never support this business

    Sorry she could wait!

My granddaughter must go here after every swim lesson. It's located in a strip mall, parking can be challenging at times. Donuts are good and friendly service.

Duck Donuts is a cute family-owned donut shop in Alpharetta. They offer a variety of donut flavors and toppings made fresh to order. The owner prepared my donuts and she was very sweet and helpful. I ordered the cinnamon sugar and pink rainbow sprinkle donuts. They were served piping hot and I took a bite, which was melt in your mouth amazing!

    tiny and thin
    Liza K.

Visited this place this morning, and left beyond disappointed with service and the quality of doughnuts. The lady over the counter claimed my order wasn't ready when there was a box with my name sitting on the counter. The doughnuts themselves very very different from the ones I have tried at other Duck Doughnuts locations : very tiny, very thin plus they missed some of the toppings that we asked for. Very over priced for what we received. Will not be coming back to this location.

Unfortunately, our excitement quickly faded before we were even seated. When I walked into the restaurant, I was completely ignored by a young blonde employee named Claudia who was standing behind the counter in the waiting area. She looked directly at me and continued what she was doing without so much as a greeting or an acknowledgment. A simple, "Good morning, someone will be right with you," would have gone a long way. Since no one else was in the lobby and I noticed a clipboard on the counter, I politely asked if there was a waitlist. Claudia responded with an attitude that she "wasn't the hostess." I calmly asked where the hostess was, and she simply replied that she was clearing tables. There was no offer to help, no explanation of the process, and no attempt to assist me. She continued interacting with other staff members while I stood there feeling like an inconvenience. Thankfully, another employee who appeared to be a waiter noticed me. He immediately picked up the same clipboard that had been sitting on the counter, took my name and phone number with a cheerful attitude, and let me know it would be about a 15-minute wait. His professionalism completely contrasted with the poor customer service I had just experienced. Once seated, our waiter was personable, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was also very good. I ordered the Chicken Sausage Scramble with hash browns, and it was delicious. My friend ordered the Catfish and Grits and thoroughly enjoyed her meal as well. The food and our waiter helped redeem the experience, but first impressions matter. Management should ensure that every employee understands that providing basic courtesy and hospitality is everyone's responsibility, not just the hostess's. Even if greeting guests or managing the waitlist wasn't Claudia's primary role, there was no excuse for being dismissive or rude to someone walking through your front door. Alpharetta has no shortage of excellent brunch spots with both great food and outstanding customer service. Sadly, because of the way I was treated before I was even seated, I won't be returning to The Southern Porch. I also won't feel comfortable recommending it to friends or family. It's disappointing because the kitchen and our waiter did their jobs well, but one employee's attitude overshadowed what could have been an otherwise enjoyable brunch.
