This was my first time visiting duck donuts. It's an interesting concept because they make each donut fresh to order. The interior is colorful with lots of differing types of merchandise you can purchase. The man and woman operating the store are friendly, and they greeted me as soon as I entered. The woman asked this is my first time and then she went on to explain the concept. With so many donuts, to choose from, I decided to simply try one this time, and I ordered the maple bacon doughnut. It was made relatively quickly, and the woman appeared slightly anxious for me to hurry up and try it. The donut was served hot, but there immediately appeared to be less maple icing than seen in the photos or experienced at other donut shoppes. For example, I have had maple bacon donuts at different places in Georgia, as well as California. There is consistently a thicker amount of maple icing. There was a generous amount of bacon on the donut, but the ratio of bacon to maple icing appeared off. The donut tasted more salty and less sweet based upon the disproportionate amount of bacon versus icing. I thought this might have been impacted by the donut being served hot, so I waited for it to cool down to see if the maple icing would solidify more. This was not the case. And while there was more bacon, the bacon appeared to be less like the chopped bacon shown in the photos and on competitors' donuts and more likely recently fried bacon. Therefore, the bacon tasted more soft and slightly greasy versus hard and crispy or crunchy. So, while I love the concept of donuts made hot and fresh to order, I was disappointed by the results experienced with the maple bacon donut. Nevertheless, I would definitely consider returning to give this location of Duck Donuts another chance and try other donuts, such as the Cinnamon Bun and Fresh Toast donuts. Cheers read more

We went on National Donut Day (June 5, 2020). Due to the coronavirus, there was no line. The owner's daughter said there would usually be a line out the door. Even though there was no line, they had blocked off spaces 6 feet apart for people to wait, so they were still prepared. The owners were so sweet and welcoming. They were giving out free Cinnamon Sugar donuts. We also got the Oreo Dream and the French Toast (both $1.75 each). The donuts themselves are perfect. They're warm and cakey. There was one woman behind the counter, on her phone, who didn't acknowledge me when I came in and didn't look up from her phone for a good bit when taking my order. Kind of offputting, but whatever. She couldn't make cold coffee drinks for whatever reason, so I skipped on coffee, which was disappointing. I ordered the Duck Dozen because it seemed to have a fun variety of flavors. The donuts took forever to come out, but at least they were fresh. While waiting, there is a seating area which feels like a waiting room for donuts. Kind of an odd set-up, but I waited. The store and plaza it was in were pretty quiet for a weekday late morning. I brought the donuts into work and my coworkers agreed that these donuts didn't compare to the place I normally go to, but they were appreciative nonetheless. The cinnamon and fruity donuts were the best. The maple bacon tasted off somehow. Anything chocolatey all tasted the same. It was a little difficult to tell which donut was which when we opened the box, so I'm glad I took a picture of the box contents on the menu beforehand, otherwise it would have been a guessing game. On my way home from the gym (no judgement) I decided to stop by. However while I sat in traffic and browsed their menu, I saw that they allowed online ordering for pick up and delivery; Score! I've heard so much about Duck Donuts, and I finally found the opportunity to pop in and see what all the hoopla was about. I have to say service wasn't very friendly. The guy behind the register didn't even say hi. He kind of half waved his hand and just stared at me. It was awkward. Finally he asked if this was my first time here. The donuts are small, think Da Vinci size if you've been there. I guess I like bigger donuts. I was disappointed in the size, not gonna lie. I took it to go, and got to my car and went to pick it up but it was pretty hot so I let it sit for about fifteen minutes. It was fresh. It's a cake donut, and I like that it wasn't greasy or heavy. But there wasn't enough topping or flavor to this. It looks like there is but the taste was pretty bland. It just kind of seemed like a waste of calories. Maybe I got the wrong donut or expected too much. I will say the service did not help matters. If you like filled donuts, definitely find a different doughnut shop because they do not offer such things as Boston cream. They have a decent selection of stuff to put on top of the donuts, such as Oreos, peanut butter, sprinkles, cinnamon, maple, blueberry icing, powdered sugar, and coconut flakes. Honestly, I was a skeptic. I've been wanting to try Duck's Donuts for a while, found myself in Alpharetta one afternoon, and seized the opportunity to try Duck's since it was nearby. When I arrived in the store, I think I was a little underwhelmed. It felt kind of like your average donut shop, not too over the top with the decor. Just normal. But, these donuts aren't normal. They're crack. Literal fried crack. And I wolfed down 4 of those fried pieces of crack in like five minutes. These are cake donuts, but they're very light. With the perfect amount of sweetness and fried crisp. And they're made fresh for you, so they're warm! We went on a Tuesday afternoon so the parking lot was pretty empty and we were the only customers in the store. We were greeted immediately & offered help on choosing donuts. She made sure to tell us to have my daughter stand on the step to watch the donuts as they cook & my daughter thought that was cool. The process of waiting for the donuts to cook & her preparing them took no more than 10 minutes. The donuts seemed smaller than I'm used to, but it was warm, literally melt in my mouth, & the edges had a slight crisp to die for. Our donuts weren't dry or very oily.
