It's a light color bun with black sesame seeds on the outside with taro and mochi inside. It was my first time getting this and wow! I am truly blown away by it and will be getting this every time now. I also was specifically looking for red bean mochi, which they had. It was green tea mochi with red bean paste inside. I love getting these from different places and this is honestly the best one I've ever had!! It's $8.50 for a pack of 4 and totally worth it. Truly so delicious. The taro butterfly is as yummy as always too! I also love the ambiance here. They have lots of tables with plenty of outlets and a jug of water to get as you need. I got a taro butterfly pastry as a snack and Vietnamese coffee for my drink. The viet coffee was decent for $5, it's not bitter nor do you taste the strong coffee but I prefer that burst of caffeine. I'd get it again, but ask for no ice because it took me so long to finish my drink anyway. The taro butterfly was good with a real taro paste inside. It wasn't too sweet either or too small. I didn't want something chocolately or savory, so this was a good pick for me (for ~$3). There is free wifi and free parking in the Asian Square. It was really loud sitting by the black tables/chairs because of the music they were playing/blasting. But by the booth/couch area, it was a bit quieter. So sweetheart is a type of spot that you can go shopping for different bakery goods and pastries. They have plenty. You basically kind of grab a tray or a basket as if you would be moving in a cafeteria line. This one isn't as big as another one that I've been to, but they still have plenty of baked goods. The spot itself has free parking and it's in the shopping center. The shopping center is has a lot of stuff there so you could easily go grab some good dinner and then use this for dessert. They have indoor and outdoor seating, even though there's only a few things that are available outdoor. They do have something. But mostly it's indoor. Everything they have just about is wrapped in plastic so it's sealed and it's not just sitting out for everybody cough and sneeze over. So you don't have to worry about all the germs because they package it for you. They'll have all the labels there to help you figure out what you want and so that you know what you're getting. It could go from sweet buns to hot dogs or whatever else they may have on hand. They actually also have a part that has plenty of cakes so you can order whole cakes or slices of cakes to go. If you want food. They have a limited food menu and they have a number of teas like bubble tea and an assortment of flavors. The last time I went I got a cheesecake and some orange green bubble tea and it was all good. If you're not sure what you want, and want to try to shop around, this will be a good spot to go to because you can basically wander around until you figure out what you want and you can eat there or take it to go. read more

This particular location is fairly spacious and has a wide selection of baked goods, pastries and cakes, as well as a variety of hot and cold tea drinks, examples being milk tea with boba, Thai tea, Taro and Strawberry Milk tea,, Lemon, Passionfruit and Mango Green teas. They have your typical bubble tea place toppings too--coffee jelly, aloe, lychee joy, popping boba. Bun and pastry options include Portuguese style egg tarts, various cream and chocolate-filled buns, hokkaido cupcakes, coconut tarts, taro or red bean-filled buns, various types of polo buns, and that's only the sweet options. Savory buns include cheese, pork floss, corn, scallion, hotdog or bacon toppings, bbq chicken and pork fillings, puff pastries filled with curry and/meat. There are also bagged loaves of sliced flavored breads. I recently tried a couple of the buns here--custard-filled sweet bun, and bbq pork puff, curry chicken bun and they were pretty good, the bun texture was soft and pillowy. The employees are pretty friendly and fast. They always have a great selection of items and seem to replenish them often. I love the Boba teas with the pearls and choices of lychee. A lot of places don't have the choices of the jellies that they do. It's always packed and there's a reason for that because the stuff is great! Even if it doesn't taste great on the dessert ends, it looks great. You have to know what to get. I enjoy the custard tarts a lot. A lot of the desserts aren't sweet enough for me. Their bread is good also. I normally don't buy it there, but I did as a gift for someone and they really liked it. The one highlight of getting sweets, here is that they are not as overly-sweet as a lot of American pastries and desserts. The inside décor is rather colorful and lively. The display cases for the pastries are well-lit, though the name tags can be slightly hidden under the top display edges - nothing of consequence though. Shortened version: Sweet Hut hits the basics if you're looking for a treat and their bakery items are good. Some of their beverages are not made with as much love as their bakery items, and they use some powders and extracts that I personally don't prefer over the real thing. This cafe caters to the American palate and is a reliable source of sweets. I have been to plenty of Asian cafes and bakeries but have never visited the infamous Atlanta chain, Sweet Hut, out of fear of it being overplayed. It was through a bit of misfortune that I ended up here. 9PM on a Sunday didn't leave a lot of dessert options, and the first small bakery I visited ran out of a lot of the good stuff... particularly tapioca pearls - the most famous feature of most bubble teas. With dismay I walked out into the plaza to be greeted by the bright lights of Sweet Hut shining in the distance. As I figured, they still had a lot of good stuff left (including tapioca pearls) as a larger bakery chain. The Doraville store saved me from a disappointing night. I don't think Sweet Hut will be my first option for bubble or beverages, but it's a good option when everything else nearby is closed or closing. I prefer places that use real ingredients, and Sweet Hut relies on powders and extracts in some of their beverages. The Passionfruit Green Tea was a 5/10 but the lychee topping made it better. The passionfruit was more of an afterthought, and the drink lacked the tanginess I'd normally associate with real passionfruit. I found out after the fact it is made with a sugar/extract mix which I despise. The Taro slush was a solid 6/10, given it is similarly made from powder that has pre-mixed sugar and that's not preferred in my house. Both drinks were gotten with the lowest amount of sugar, as usual. But at other Asian cafes, the flavor of the drink is still very apparent even with 0% sugar, presumably because there's more consideration with the quality of the ingredients. 0% sugar made these beverages muted. If you like sugary drinks, you'll probably like Sweet Hut drinks. But HONEY, they do desserts well. I prefer Asian bakeries because the desserts are lighter and tend to have less sugar. A sh*t ton of sugar usually mutes the flavor profile. The Black Forest cake is beautifully done, and same for the Oreo cheesecake. Not overbearingly sweet, which allows the full profile of the dessert to shine. I got a red velvet cookie and a Mocha Swirl for another time. The cookie was very decadent and consequently had the least unique flavor profile -- it didn't really taste like Red Velvet cake and more like the chocolate cake base. Still yummy if you like chocolate that's been dyed LOL. I'm saving the swirl for a rainier day. The cafe was very lively, but equally as dirty. The floor had sticky stuff on it, the tables were full of crumbs. It was the end of the night so I'm not sure if that contributed to the disheveled environment. Hopefully it doesn't look like that all the time. I get nervous when things are sticky LOL everything was taken to-go for that reason. Ultimately, I think I'd come back for the bakery items, but I'll probably go somewhere else for drinks with more real and flavorful ingredients. read more

Parking can be a bit challenging when it's really busy bc it's in a small shopping plaza. This was the original location before they opened several others so I wanted to see if the quality was still there. I love their selections of different buns and pastries. Sweet, Savory, donuts, cakes, tarts and of course Boba! My go to is a bbq pork bun - they seriously have the best and have mastered this recipe. It is so consistent. Mozzarella bun- to die for! The bun is slightly sweet and that slightly savory and cheesy texture from the mozzarella, it's a match made in heaven for me. Some more amazing buns: corn and ham, hotdog and spring onion (literally addicting) And one of my favorites is the Portuguese egg tart. If you like custard, egg, creme brulee, or flan...you must get this! Go to boba, Thai tea, sweet hut milk tea, Jasmine green tea with lychee! All of this to say this place is awesome and u can certainly rack up a hefty bill adding all these delicious pastries in your little cart! I love all bakeries like Sweet Hut where you can walk in and be welcomed by a large selection of freshly baked buns, savory and sweet! This location goes above and beyond in terms of hygiene; I was impressed by the request to wear a plastic glove prior to placing your buns on a tray lined with a new piece of paper (some would say this is overkill, but i didn't mind). The store itself is kind of dark and dingy... but again, don't mind. I would say the buns we bought did not blow us away but were pretty tasty and we would return for them. Stopped by at 6:30pm on a Saturday to pick up some last minute birthday cakes. I was glad to see that there were still plenty of options available, but I didn't enjoy it that much. There were a lot of staff working, and it was pretty quiet inside. However, there was this lingering smell of BO and gas. It filled the whole store and we smelled it everywhere we went. It was pretty uncomfortable to sit there and wait. They were $32 each and it came with candles and a knife. The handwriting was cute but other than that, the cakes were lackluster. The taro cake was bland and it had chunks of Taro in the sponge that added no flavor. The cream was light but it was pretty standard, I expected a taro explosion, but it just tasted like a regular sponge cake with random chunks throughout. The fruit cake, was also pretty bland. The sponge and cream were light, but for a fruit cake, it was really lacking in fruit. You got an occasional bite of fruit, but it didn't have enough. It wasn't worth it at all, it was really disappointing for the price. Both cakes were also a little dry. In the future, I would probably visit a different bakery to pick up a cake. Their pastries and breads that are individually wrapped are WAY better in my opinion, so I will continue to go to Sweet Hut for those only. read more

My friends and I came here after having dinner just a few minutes away. It was considerably busy for being a random Monday night but still plenty of seats for my party of 6 to get comfortable and pass a few more hours together. Even though it was the end of the day, they were depleted on certain options but they did replenish some while we were still there. There are many options to choose from but generally a sweet side and savory side. My go-to is the taro butterfly bun, which was soft and pillowy and only slightly crunchy with thin sliced almonds. The mango bun has a sweet tasting filling, which is hard to stop eating after the first bite. Here are some other buns worth trying: Hong Kong Polo bun (no filling) Brown sugar coconut bun (has filling) Blueberry cheesecake bun (has filling) The buns at Sweet Hut are great, fresh and fun. It's a self service model so go in and grab some treats and head to the counter. Each bun was just under $3, so plan to spend $10-15. The staff is always friendly and prompt. You'll notice there are always people hanging out. I was surprised by the extensive food and drink menu which is behind the counter (see pics). Great place for a date or to hang with family/friends. I think there used to be a large Asian supermarket here next door as well but they seem to be closed. Anyways, the parking lot is huge with plenty of spots! They do get busy, but I am glad to see they always seem to be fully staffed and the checkout is super fast :) ***AMBIANCE*** The wifi works great. The only downside is how busy it is. It's kind of a cafe for working but a little more for eating and socializing. The line gets crowded but also the guests that are seated are mostly there meeting people and talking. I see some working from laptops but it's not a quiet place. If that doesn't bother you, it is great for working. But if you're looking for something more quiet, I wouldn't stay here to work. I personally don't really care if there is noise if I have no calls, so it works for me! There are plenty of outlets around. ***FOOD*** Pastries are all amazing! I love the French pastries! Some are pretty authentic while others have a twist to them but they're all delicious. I'm honestly obsessed with this place. I come every time I'm in Atlanta no matter if I'm only there for a day. I usually just get a ton of pastries but this time I got the salt and pepper nuggets, spring rolls, and some cheese fries to share with my friend. It was all super hot and fresh and came out fast. I've been a sweethut fan for years. This location is closest to where I live and one of my favorites. The boba is always really fresh and soft and they keep a good stock of the pastries. Unacceptable Service by Justin at Sweet Hut I had an extremely disappointing experience at Sweet Hut due to the unprofessional behavior of an employee named Justin. From the moment I interacted with him, he was dismissive, rude, and made it clear that he had no interest in providing decent customer service. His attitude was completely uncalled for, and his lack of professionalism made the entire experience frustrating and uncomfortable. No customer should be treated this way, and it's unacceptable for a business to allow employees to behave like this. I hope management takes this issue seriously and holds their staff accountable. This kind of service reflects poorly on Sweet Hut, your employees need to be taught better, and if nothing changes, I will be taking my business elsewhere even though I've been going to this location for years and this is the first time I've ever seen him there or been treated this poorly at Sweet hut, it's a shame that this location is now losing customers because of a teenager with bad customer service and an even worse attitude towards customer. read more

I let my sister convince us to grab food from here to being back to the hotel to snack on. We got 1 of each tart, some pork floss buns, coconut buns, a taro swirl cake and some other not so notable goods. The tarts are the real stars here. Seriously everything else was forgettable, basic and meh. There was a caramel, chocolate, ube, matcha and basic cheesecake tart. I didn't like that all of them came with this random "caramelized" marshmallow atop. It was nice to look at but didn't go well eith any of the tarts. (And it was hardly caramelized.) My husband and I were visiting from out of town to spend time with family for Christmas and excited to have some dessert before our event. Right before my husband took a bite into his red velvet cake slice, he spotted mold on the corner. Thanks God that he spotted the mold and stopped eating. We went up to the counter and the cashier said they'll let management know without checking the rest of their red velvet cake slices for mold, but continue selling them. There were 1-2 slices left.
