My mom has been visiting this scam artist clinic for the past year. This facility is NOT about your…read morehealth, this place is about how they can charge you more for copayments and avoid providing any type of healthcare. 1. The doctor does not listen to your actual health concerns. My mom has been trying to get her hip pain checked out for almost a year now and instead of addressing her actual CHIEF COMPLAINT, the doctor orders a HIV test and some blood work. Provides no work up of hip pain and states that a HIV test is mandatory per insurance. And then charges a $45 copay for CALLING IN RESULTS on a test that my mom did not even want, this is separate from the initial $45 copay that she paid for the visit. 2. They don't keep track of copayments. The office continued to bill my mom $45 almost monthly to which she did not want to argue and figured she needed to pay. So she paid twice even while NOT interacting with this clinic for months. So on the 3rd random bill, she called the front desk. Sadly this was also an extremely unpleasant experience with extremely rude admin assistants. Upon further investigation, they realized they made a mistake and would NOT RETURN the money. Instead they offered to credit her account... what kind of medical facility is this? Credit to her account for a mistake that THEY made. In order to even investigate this, my mom had to send in her own bank statements because they don't give you receipts (probably on purpose) and then insist that you keep owing them money that you already paid. MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR RECEIPTS HERE, demand one if you have to. 3. Still no care ALL YEAR regarding her hip pain. This place is honestly a glorified med spa trying to act like an actual healthcare facility and is embarrassing from someone else who works in healthcare. To everyone who works here and "Dr." Shin, please do better for your patients. The fact that this is purely a business for you is showing.

Dr. Chumley has an impressive educational background (according to his bio he graduated from UC Riverside and earned his Master's Degree and Medical Doctorate from Georgetown University), plus a lot of experience, having had a private practice in Hawaii for 14 years before returning to the mainland and setting up his practice in Torrance. As impressive as his knowledge, skills, and experience are, we are even more impressed with Dr. Chumley's bedside manner. He takes the time to ask pertinent questions, provide explanations in understandable terms, and actually listens to his patients. He has a great office staff too. A patient's experience with their doctor depends a lot on their interaction with his assistants and staff, with all of the necessary appointments, paperwork, and follow-ups. Their roles are underrated if you ask me. We had a rather urgent matter to discuss with Dr. Chumley so Lucy, one of his assistants, fit us into his already packed schedule (Thank you, Lucy!) and we didn't feel at all rushed during our session. I just have a random feeling Dr. Chumley may have given up his lunch time to see us and we appreciate it very much. Thank you, Dr. Chumley, for doing a great job by helping us maintain and improve our health. You're the best!

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience…read more I came to my appointment prepared to discuss my current health status and recent progress. During the visit, it became apparent that some of the information being used to evaluate my situation was outdated and did not reflect more recent lab test results and developments. When I attempted to provide updated information, I felt that my concerns were dismissed rather than thoughtfully considered. What was particularly frustrating was the implication that the lack of current information was somehow my responsibility, even though patients reasonably expect healthcare providers to have access to the most up-to-date records or, at the very least, be willing to consider information provided during the visit. Instead of feeling listened to, I felt judged. Rather than engaging in a collaborative discussion, I found myself repeatedly having to advocate for myself before my concerns were finally acknowledged. Ironically, after a lengthy conversation, the nurse practitioner ultimately agreed that changes were appropriate. I appreciate that a resolution was eventually reached, but it should not take that much effort for a patient to feel heard. Compassion, active listening, and a willingness to consider current information are fundamental to quality healthcare. I recommend that all the medical assistants and the nurse practitioner I spoke with place greater emphasis on patient communication and partnership. Patients deserve to be treated with respect, not made to feel responsible for shortcomings in the system or dismissed when they try to provide important updates about their own care.

During my first appointment he really took the time to learn about me and my lifestyle and in my return visits he remembered our conversations from previous appointments. It really made me feel valued. He is thorough and I was happy that he was never quick to prescribe unnecessary medications. Unfortunately, I moved away and changed insurance companies so I had to say goodbye to Dr. Chumley. I currently have a terrible doctor and it makes me miss him even more!
